READER’S NOTE:

This is a bonus poem added to “A Crooked Path” from the book “Wilderness: A Crooked Path to the Promised Land.”

Originally I had intended on only including 5 poems from the book, but after rereading this one I decided to add it as an additional poem. “Allowances” was written on August 10th, 2010.

Allowances

Scripture used is from the King James Version and appears in Italics

As children should not decide

their allowances

nor dictate to their parent’s

neither

should man determine their own allowances

dictating to

the Father.

Yet,

it is so.

There is no love

nor respect

no truth

in children

creating their own allowances

ignoring the Father

and what He will allow.

Too many think the eating

of the forbidden fruit

happened long ago,

unaware

of the daily

constant gorging of almost everyone,

imbibing, with gluttony,

the forbidden fruits

deadly juices

dripping

from their lips.

Woe to the children

of the One True God,

the Father,

determining

what they will allow!

Rather than

turning to God’s Word

to discover what is allowed,

how they should spend

the allowance

generously given

in obedience to

the Word of God.

…and made a covenant

before the Lord,

to walk after the Lord,

and to keep His commandments

and His testimonies

and His statutes with all their heart

and all their soul,

to perform the words

of this covenant

that were written in this Book.

Cause me to hear

thy lovingkindness in the morning;

for in Thee do I trust:

cause me to know the way

wherein I should walk;

for I lift up my soul to Thee.

But if from thence

thou shalt seek the Lord thy God,

thou shalt find Him,

if thou seek Him with all thy heart

and with all thy soul.

When thou art in tribulation,

and all these things are come upon thee,

even in the latter days,

if thou turn

to the Lord thy God,

and shalt be obedient unto His voice.

Woe to them these days

which as children

allow themselves their hearts desire

rather than with all their heart

seeking, turning to God

and His infallible Word!

Seeking their own way

over the way of the Lord.

Listening to their own voice,

or the soothing voice of false teachers

rather than hearing the voice of God

resound, reprove, refine

through His Divine Word!

The more one allows

themselves

the more the Lord

will disavow knowing you.

O perverted

and so misled

heeding the words of man

instead

of turning to the Lord’s Word

in humility

and genuineness of spirit

and heart!
