As the heart
panteth after the water
brooks,
so panteth my soul
after thee,
O God.
My soul thirsteth
for God,
for the living God:
when shall I come
and appear before God?
Heart ablaze
to glory
seeking God’s glory
desiring to be upon
the currents guiding living waters
with heart on fire
to know the Person
of the Living God!
O God,
thou art my God:
early will I seek thee:
for my soul thirsteth for thee
my flesh longeth for thee
in a dry and thirsty land,
where no water is.
I seek thee
with heart on fire
from the Light of your True
Living Word
in pathways
hewn by Moses
I fall before thee
asking
to know thee better
Now therefore,
I pray thee,
if I have found grace
in thy sight,
shew me now thy way,
that I may know thee,
that I might find grace
in thy sight…
I beseech thee,
shew my thy glory.
Being drawn
submitting
humbling
receiving thy salvation
is not the end of the story
though
in these universally dark times
the burning hearts
do battle
as legions of evil sabers rattle
mouths brattle
wooden windup professors
follow their “programs”
well rehearsed “sermons”
worry about their “organizations”
in this age
of Christian complexity
obscuring the simplicity
of Jesus Christ the Lord
all chanting different chords
a cacophony
of noise
confusion
discord
all these nervous activities
of those professing belief
bringing no relief
void in their souls
of true love for God,
true thirsty longing ablaze love
within their hearts
their souls
for the Lord
most not ever thinking He is a
Person
so busy
so busy
so busy
growing shallower
shallower
in inner experience
hollowness of worship
servile imitation of the world
tied in knots
concerned with “promotions”
their “calendar of events”
devoid
of any fire within
no different
than if they were doing what they do
working for
IBM
The hungry sheep look up,
and are not fed
visions of bake sales
car washes
the children of God sit at the table
starving
not being fed
under siege with this “program”
or that “program”
instead dance within their head
while they scurry about…
dead
no flame
no burning heart
no thirst sated
malnourishment
they are fated
to know God
without desire
love burning within their soul
their confusion of faith
mixed with world taking its deadly toll
their professed belief
while just another cog, another part
in the rusted machinery
of their world driven lives
turning what should be the pursuit of God
into just more worldly pursuit
“Honey, where’s my Sunday suit?”
all the focus
is placed upon “accepting”
then it ends
treating what they’ve done
as just another task
refusing to ask
I beseech thee,
show me thy glory
They accept the coldness
the woodenness
the rote
the “program”
as end of story
hidden from the Light of Living
Glory
That I may know Him…
But what things
were gain to me,
those I counted loss for
Christ.
That I may know Him…
Yea doubtless,
and I count all things but
loss
for the excellency
of the knowledge of
Christ Jesus my Lord:
for whom I suffered loss
of all things,
and do count them but dung,
that I may win Christ,
That I may know Him…
And be found in him,
not having mine own
righteousness,
which is of the law,
but that which is through the faith of
Christ,
the righteousness
which is of God
by faith:
That I may know him,
and the power of his resurrection
and the fellowship of his
sufferings,
being made conformable
unto his death;
That I may know Him…
Sound doctrine
sound Scripture exposition
so imperative
in the Church of the Living God
yet
in the narrative
as well rehearsed
as wooden
lifeless
loveless
devoid of true spiritual nourishment
whatever
it leaves
the hearers
starved
parched
thirsty
and dying
their souls crying
for mere words
no sermons said
nourish the soul
for it is God Himself
that provides
true life giving nourishment
ignites the soul
sets the heart ablaze
towards glory
and unless
the hearers
personally find God
within their own souls
within their own hearts
setting their souls panting
for God the Person
ignite their hearts ablaze
with love for God
desiring more
more
more
more!
no words spoken
from a pulpit
will impart
into their heart
the delight in His Presence
tasting the nourishing truth
the sweetness
of the very God Himself
within the core of their hearts
And this is life eternal,
that they might know thee
the only true God,
and Jesus Christ,
whom thou hast sent.
The doctrine
of justification by faith
that Biblical truth
that relief
from sterile suffocating unattainable legalism
and unavailing self-effort
in our time
has fallen
into evil company
interpreted by many
in ways that actually keep men
and women
from the knowledge of God
the entire “transaction”
of modern day conversion
made mechanical
spiritless
faith now exercised
without jarring the moral life
without embarrassing
the Adamic ego
just tonight
I read of a woman professing boldly
of being a Christian
claiming her beliefs
have kept her
from securing certain jobs
extolling about how her opposition to abortion
right-wing views
meant lost parts
lost wages
while she goes on to praise homosexuality
stating
she has no problem
with homosexual or lesbian marriage
Yeshua,
Jesus Christ the Lord
may now be “received”
by this mass of wooden
worldly
devoid of truth and light
windup dolls
without any special love for Him
in the heart
soul
of the “receiver”
these modern day
professed believers
part and parcel with the great deceiver!
Where are the hearts
ablaze
aflame
burning with desire
to know God,
to know Yeshua,
Christ the Son?
Where are the burning hearts
ablaze for glory
among all this darkness?
God is a Person
a Living Real Person
within the everlasting
to everlasting
in His
Omnipresent
Omnipotent
Being
He feels
He thinks
He wills
He enjoys
He suffers pain
He experiences joy
He loves
He becomes angry
He becomes jealous
He forgives
He loves…
He is Living
He is feeling
He is real
He has personality
He walked and talked with Adam in the cool of the afternoon
in the Garden…
because He created us for companions
with our main purpose
to worship Him
to glorify His name
for all He is
which is everything
for all He provides…
Faith is not a club
a social hub
the intercourse
between God and each soul
is known
through
personal conscious awareness
ah, there’s the rub!
Personal conscious awareness
in all fairness
is foreign to most
while they bicker
over who will play host
to the upcoming church weenie roast
who will oversee the next “program”
get angry when Velma’s spaghetti
outsells
Betty’s!
Intercourse with God
is personal
it does not come communally
collectively
through the body of believers
it becomes known
to the individual
conscious
aware
with heart aflame
because they care
more for the seeking of God
than anything here on earth
Is not my word like a fire?
Saith the Lord…
If we are truly quickened by the Spirit
and are regenerated
our entire being
should spring alive with its kinship
towards God
seeking
thirsting
with heart burning
aflame
to glorify His name
our spirits should leap with joyous
recognition!
O taste
and see
that the Lord is good:
blessed is the man that trusteth
in him
All thy garments smell of myrrh,
and aloes,
and cassia,
out of the ivory palaces. whereby they have made thee glad.
I will praise thee,
O Lord,
with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
Stand in awe…
I seek
I desire
I thirst
with heart
and soul aflame
amid the universal darkness
encompassing about
for those
other
hearts
souls
set afire
burning
to know God
give their all for the One True Living God
I look
across blackened horizons
for the fellowship of the burning hearts…
for God
yet
I do not need them
for I heed the voice
of my Lord
and walk beside Him
yet
such companionship
finding another heart ablaze
to glorify the One True God
and Jesus Christ the Son
such fellowship
such sweet reward!
Further ignites
the fire within my soul
blessings the good Lord
does afford
when we are truly faithful
walking in accord
with the true, living
Word of the Lord
