Holy Scriptures from the KJV are in Italics
Woe unto them who
call evil,
good,
and good,
evil;
who put darkness for light,
and light for darkness;
who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Evil waits impatiently at the bar
where the masses gather
day and night
ignoring truth
kept far from their blurred sight
bartenders tending
to all
refusing to see
refusing to hear “last call!”
apostasy
apostasy
apostasy
delusion
illusion
infusion of lies
woven into their attracting wardrobes
as far as the eye can see
stripped of their two-dimensional
fleeting covering
evil always
always
always
around
within
near them
hovering
apostasy wrapped around this world
like an equator
illusion
banal pathetic excuse laden
thick
delusion
abounds
the sound found
’round and ’round
while the eyes of every I
refuses to see
For the time will come
when they will not endure
sound doctrine
but,
after their own lusts,
shall they heap to themselves teachers,
having itching ears;
and they shall
turn away
their ears from the truth, and shall be turned
unto fables.
None calleth for justice,
nor any pleadeth for truth;
they trust in vanity,
and speak lies;
they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
And justice is turned away
backward,
and righteousness standeth afar off;
for truth is fallen in the street,
and equity cannot enter.
Thy Word O Lord
they continually refuse the truth of Thee
Increasing din
rising sin
dim the lights
dim the view
dim the minds
and spirits too
the bar grows ever crowded
in darkened shroud
huddled
arrogant
boisterous
evil no longer shrouded within the growing crowd
each patron has their favorite drink to quell
their constant thirst
never sated
they guzzle, spill, seeking perpetual thrill
while their evil drunkenness only makes them more ill
beverage of choice
keeping them in the dark
all have their favorites
be it drink
or bartender
from Jack, their shot of minister
an ever smiling wolf
who lives to slaughter ignorant sleeping sheep
in their walking while lacking discernment sleep
all raising a glass in unison
trained
imitators
constant refrain
the professed claiming they are on the same team
celebrating
they are not what they seem
gathered close around separate tables along walls in the bar
appearances are deceiving
they make sure of that
they may come in wearing a slightly different hat
use a different weighted bat
but the truth
in truth
they have left
striking out
not up to finishing every inning
they merely mouthed
“I believe” at the beginning
convinced once-and-done
would score them runs
win the game
And thou shalt grope at noonday,
as the blind gropeth in darkness,
and thou shalt not prosper
in thy ways;
and thou shalt be only oppressed
and spoiled evermore,
and no man shall save thee.
I
also
will choose their delusions,
and will bring their fears upon them,
because when I called,
none did answer;
when I spoke,
they did not hear;
but they did evil before mine eyes,
and chose that in which
I
delighted not.
And they shall look
unto the earth,
and behold trouble
and darkness,
dimness of anguish;
and they shall be driven to darkness.
O Lord instruct convict them of their shame!
All mingle
cluster
amble about
the evil owner
his grin
widening
with every sin
drunk on lies patron falling down
more and more
entering
while the truth they are leaving
so many entering the bar
malnourished
dying, dead, ahhh, remember…
those appearances are deceiving
for they appear alive and vital
yet
if
they
should
ingest
any truth along the way
they puke it up and out
heaving
upon the stench soaked into the floorboards from all patrons past
for their spirit guiding them
their favorite bartender
delusion
illusion
lender
keeps them in constant confusion
finding truth
such an intrusion
This team of players
truth slayers
Slewfoot’s obeyers
all playing their part
committing error upon error
while in drunkenness claiming victory
hoisting their frothy brew
their shot of burning lies
prematurely
for as Yogi Berra even said,
“It ain’t over till it’s over”
yet
in drunken power
they continue to weave
and fall
cramming the bar
demanding more, more, more
guzzling down the lies
keeping the veil of darkness over their blank dying eyes
more souls spilled upon the bar
for the drunkenness of evil
truly is never far
off
they scoff
defile
blaspheme
defame
taking His name in vain
while elevating their name
perching the evil owner of the bar on their shoulders
shouting in mass frenzy
so nothing can truly be heard
they lift themselves
the evil owner
their rancid brews
above the One
the Son
Run to and fro
through the streets of Jerusalem,
and see now,
and know,
and seek its broad places,
if ye can find a man,
if there be any that executeth justice,
that seeketh the truth…
But thou shalt say unto them,
This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the Lord,
their God,
nor receiveth correction;
truth is prished,
and is cut off from their mouth.
And they will deceive
every one his neighbor,
and will not speak the truth;
they have taught their tongue
to speak lies,
and weary themselves
to commit iniquity.
“I’ll take another delusion on the rocks!”
they bellow
from the pews
something said near them
they can’t retain
why should they, it’s almost always the same dead refrain
sitting near widescreens
hypnotized by what passes
for news
in classrooms
at work
all their days
as the darkest of night
all their passing gadgets
toys
ploys
noise
momentarily to amuse
while an ounce of truth poured into them they always refuse…
I,
the Lord,
have said,
I will surely do it unto
all this evil congregation,
who are gathered together
against me:
in this wilderness they shall be consumed,
and there they shall die.
Thine own wickedness shall correct thee,
and they backslidings shall reprove thee;
know,
therefore,
and see
that it is an evil thing
and bitter,
that thou hast forsaken the Lord,
thy God,
and that my fear
is not in thee,
saith the Lord God of hosts.
I have hated the congregation
of evildoers,
and will not sit with the wicked.
If
we say
that we have fellowship with Him,
and walk in darkness,
we lie,
and do not the truth;
But if we walk in the Light,
as He is the Light,
we have fellowship
one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ,
His Son,
cleanseth us from all sin.
Who is among you
that feareth the Lord,
that obeyeth the voice of his servant,
that walketh in darkness,
and hath no light?
Let him
trust in the name of the Lord,
and stay upon his God.
