Yesterday & Today — Jeremiah 7

I am well aware Jeremiah chapter 7 is the God-breathed, Holy Spirit given words to the prophet Jeremiah for the people of Israel around the year 612 B.C.

But let it be known — Hear the word of the Lord, all ye of America, that enter into its gates to profess worshipping of the Lord our God.

For to the aware true believer the exact words of the prophet Jeremiah can be laid over the nation of America like a pattern cutter would lay a pattern to cut cloth, for we are cut of the same cloth as those in that time, and we err in our time, as did those in theirs!

Substitute the words “Israel,” and all ye of “Judah,” and “Shiloh,”‘ and “Jerusalem” and replace them with “God’s chosen people,” and “America.”

I do not write this to anger or make the people of America on equal footing with the people of Israel, of Judah. I write this because Jeremiah chapter 7 is a perfect fit, a perfect pattern laid upon this current sinful,, dying, perverse, lost its way nation. America is one of the most idolatrous nations on earth at present — and increasing daily in our idolatry. We have become the center of murdering children, murdering the unborn — and we call it the sanitized “abortion.”  We have our own valley of slaughter in which we murder and burn our children which surpasses the one in Jeremiah chapter 7. And we turn our eyes, avert our conscience, become otherwise occupied — in diverse idolatries so we don’t have to feel within our spirits the depths of our diseased spirits, the depths of our iniquity before the throne and eyes of our living God and His Son, Jesus the Lord, Saviour, and Messiah!

We were once a great people, a great nation, divinely blessed of the Lord. Created by Divine Providence, blessed greatly — beyond measure by the Lord our God.

And we are now Jeremiah chapter 7.

And the desolation will come.

The disease, the rot, the corruption, the liars and their lies, the thieves and murderers, the idolaters; this nation, America, present day has lost its way and it will never find its way again because it follows and craves fables and seduction with its itching ears leading it to destruction!

I write this in the hope those reading it will fervently pray for our nation, our people, that we do repent and heed the ways and will of the Lord our God, that we turn from our perversions, our corruptions, our lies and iniquity and place our feet once again on the path towards God our Father.

I believe with all my heart, all my soul, all my spirit, all my being in the power of prayer and the infinite power of the Almighty God our Father. Nothing is impossible with Him.

But the remnant, true believers must pray for this nation and its people. In faith our prayers reach the heart of God and He knows our petitions unto Him! We cannot remain silent turning our backs on what is taking place and thusly turning our backs on the power of God to heal and restore.

Pray for our disgraceful and arrogant and in grave error leaders. Pray that the people of our nation see their disgrace, their iniquity, their error and they repent of their iniquities and turn to the Lord.

Am I an idealistic dreamer? No. I know where we are and what is taking place and why. I know there will not be this grand, visible, palpable revival and turnaround from the errors of our ways and our sin — but I also know if we each pray for our leaders that they be pricked in their hearts, in their spirits, and made to feel the power of God to turn to His word and ways, and we pray the same for our people that God will hear and it will not go without something occurring. If we pray in such a manner there will not be the same status quo, the same polluted waters without a new ripple felt upon them — even if ever so small, even if only felt and seen in a mere handful scattered across this nation — a dozen becoming aware is worth the effort than doing nothing and turning from God and His ways and allowing many thousands to fall further, fall deeper into the abyss!

Jeremiah 7 — King James Version

Jeremiah’s Message at the Temple Gate

1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2Stand in the gate of the LORD’S house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.

3Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

4Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.

5For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;

6If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

7Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.

8Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.

9Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;

10And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?

11Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.

12But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.

13And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not;

14Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

15And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.

Judah’s Idolatry Persists

16Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.

17Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

18The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

19Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?

20Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

21Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.

22For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

23But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

24But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

25Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:

26Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.

27Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.

28But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

29Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

The Valley of Slaughter

30For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.

31And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.

32Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.

33And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away.

34Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

Jeremiah 7 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

This word came to Yirmeyahu [Jeremiah]from Adonai [the Lord our God]:

“Stand at the gate of the house of Adonai and proclaim this word: ‘Listen to the word of Adonai, all you from Y’hudah who enter these gates to worship Adonai!

Here is what AdonaiTzva’ot, the God of Isra’el, says: “Improve your ways and actions, and I will let you stay in this place.

Don’t rely on that deceitful slogan, ‘The temple of Adonai, the temple of Adonai these [buildings] are the temple of Adonai.’

No, but if you really improve your ways and actions; if you really administer justice between people;

if you stop oppressing foreigners, orphans and widows; if you stop shedding innocent blood in this place; and if you stop following other gods, to your own harm;

then I will let you stay in this place, in the land I gave to your ancestors forever and ever.

Look! You are relying on deceitful words that can’t do you any good.

First you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, offer to Ba‘al and go after other gods that you haven’t known.

10 Then you come and stand before me in this house that bears my name and say, ‘We are saved’ — so that you can go on doing these abominations!

11 Do you regard this house, which bears my name, as a cave for bandits? I can see for myself what’s going on,” says Adonai.

12 “Go to the place in Shiloh that used to be mine, that used to bear my name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Isra’el.

13 I spoke to you again and again, but you wouldn’t listen. I called you, but you wouldn’t answer. Now,” says Adonai, “because you have done all these things,

14 I will do to the house that bears my name, on which you rely, and to the place I gave you and your ancestors, what I did to Shiloh;

15 and I will drive you out of my presence, just as I drove out all your kinsmen, all the descendants of Efrayim.”’

16 “So you, [Yirmeyahu,] don’t pray for this people! Don’t cry, pray or intercede on their behalf with me; because I won’t listen to you.

17 Don’t you see what they are doing in the cities of Y’hudah and in the streets of Yerushalayim?

18 The children gather the wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and, just to provoke me, they pour out drink offerings to other gods!

19 Are they really provoking me,” asks Adonai, “or are they provoking themselves, to their own ruin?”

20 Therefore, here is what Adonai Elohim says: “My anger and fury will be poured out on this place, on men, animals, trees in the fields and produce growing from the ground; and it will burn without being quenched.”

21 Thus says AdonaiTzva’ot, the God of Isra’el: “You may as well eat the meat of your burnt offerings along with that of your sacrifices.

22 For I didn’t speak to your ancestors or give them orders concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices when I brought them out of the land of Egypt.

23 Rather, what I did order them was this: ‘Pay attention to what I say. Then I will be your God, and you will be my people. In everything, live according to the way that I order you, so that things will go well for you.’

24 But they neither listened nor paid attention, but lived according to their own plans, in the stubbornness of their evil hearts, thus going backward and not forward.

25 You have done this from the day your ancestors came out of Egypt until today. Even though I sent you all my servants the prophets, sending them time after time,

26 they would not listen or pay attention to me, but stiffened their necks; they did worse than their ancestors.

27 So tell them all this; but they won’t listen to you; likewise, call to them; but they won’t answer you.

28 Therefore, say to them,

‘This is the nation that has not listened
to the voice of Adonai their God.
They won’t take correction; faithfulness has perished;
it has vanished from their mouths.

29 Cut off your hair, and throw it away,
take up a lament on the bare hills,
for Adonai has rejected and abandoned
the generation that rouses his anger.’

30 “For the people of Y’hudah have done what is evil from my perspective,” says Adonai; “they have set up their detestable things in the house which bears my name, to defile it.

31 They have built the high places of Tofet in the Ben-Hinnom Valley, to burn their sons and daughters in the fire, something I never ordered; in fact, such a thing never even entered my mind!

32 Therefore, the days are coming,” says Adonai, “when it will no longer be called either Tofet or the Ben-Hinnom Valley, but the Valley of Slaughter — they will put the dead in Tofet, because there will be no space left [anywhere else].

33 The corpses of this people will become food for the birds in the air and the wild animals; no one will frighten them away.

34 Then in the cities of Y’hudah and the streets of Yerushalayim I will silence the sounds of joy and gladness and the voices of bridegroom and bride; because the land will be reduced to ruins.
