We Are What We Eat

Scripture used appears in Italics & is from the King James Version
I awakened in the night
hungry
yearning
spirit churning
soul making groaning noises
knowing nourishment was what I needed
literal craving
hunger
thirst
for
the
Word of God
We are what we eat
be it the refuse this world regurgitates
most digest
or
we sup on the truth
of God’s Holy Word
We are what we eat…
most filled with additives
chemicals imbalanced
spirits dead
misled
under fed
over fed
the heating winds of deception
filling most heads
hearts
mouths
Walking the path
I’d seen
see
strewn bodies
busy
writhing
wrangling
spirits choking
malnourished gluttony
abounding
false teachings
unsound doctrine
resounding
echoing through the dead canyons of the hearts
it beat within
so much sin
so much gorging
eating
devouring
lying, dying words
the vanity of man
Thus saith the Lord God:
An evil, an only evil,
behold is come.
An end is come, the end is come;
it watcheth for thee;
behold it is come.
I sit in dimly lit room
allowing the Holy Spirit
to illuminate me
through His
Word
His sacred, holy, righteous Word
eating of the spiritual meat
within
hunger pangs abate
nourishment of the soul
abounds
at the sounds
of the Living Word
fed to my beating heart
The morning
is come unto thee,
O thou that dwellest in the land;
the time is come,
the day of trouble is near,
and not the joyful shouting upon the mountains.
Now
will I
shortly pour out my fury
upon thee;
and I will judge thee
according to thy ways,
and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.
And mine eye shall not spare,
neither will I have pity;
I will recompense thee
according to thy ways
and thine abominations
that are in the midst of thee;
and ye shall know that
I am
the Lord who smiteth…
They shall cast their silver in the streets,
and their gold shall be removed;
their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them
in the day of wrath
of the Lord; they shall not satisfy their souls,
neither fill their [stomachs],
because it is the stumbling block
of their iniquity.
I look out
upon the vastness of the table
of this world
set before me to witness
watching the vapid death
scurrying, worrying
gossiping, lying
further dying
ravished for the meat of truth
they dine, no, consume
in disgusting gluttony
every lie set on the table before them
while air remains under the plate
the steaming lies
false teachings
are served upon
Slothfulness
casteth into a deep sleep,
and an idle soul
shall suffer hunger.
I duck, dodge
the flying sludge
of the perpetual food fight
served up by the world
blue plate specials available in most churches every Sunday morning
to take my bread
in solace
feasting upon
the nourishing
life-giving
Word of God
in those times
ahungered
thirsting
always turning in thankful prayer
for all the Lord provides
upon the table of my soul
I live
by the will of the Lord
I seek
to attain
loving the Lord my God
with all my heart,
with all my soul,
with all my being,
serving Him
not sitting
nor being served at the table of this world
instead
daily
filled by the food,
the meat,
of Jehovah Elyon’s
nourishing
life-giving
Word!
My doctrine shall drop as the rain,
my speech shall distill as the dew,
as the small rain upon the tender herb,
and as the showers upon the grass…
Therefore, thou shalt love the Lord,
thy God,
and keep his charge, and his statutes,
and his [ordinances],
and his commandments,
always…
And it shall come to pass,
if ye shall hearken
diligently
unto my commandments
which I command you this day,
to love the Lord your God,
and to serve him
with all your heart,
and with all your soul,
That I will give you the rain of your land in due season,
the first rain
and the latter rain,
that thou mayest gather in thy [grain],
and thy wine,
and thine oil.
And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle,
that thou mayest eat and be full.
Take heed to yourselves,
that your heart be not deceived,
and ye turn aside,
and serve other gods, and worship them;
And then the Lord’s wrath
be kindled against you,
and he shut up the heaven,
that there be no rain,
and that the land yield not her fruit;
and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land
which the Lord giveth you.
Stomachs churn
insides ache
groan
around this decaying world can be heard the moan
of spirits walking in darkness
misled
by all the malnourishment
lies
deception
they are fed
I awakened
once among those forsaking the meat of truth
the life-giving sustenance
the Lord our God sets upon a holy table
now
no pangs within
forgiven of sin
in the shed blood of the Lamb
I lie prone in reverence
living to attain the prize
serving God Almighty
The Son
growing through the ingesting of spiritual food
from the Word of God
to
hear the Lord say,
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant;
thou hast been faithful over a few things,
I will make thee ruler over many things.
Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
We are what we eat
either sound doctrine
edifying
nourishing
pleasing and acceptable unto the Lord
or we eat of Slewfoot’s deception
for the heart of men is nothing but deceitful
if they do not place their faith
complete trust
hope
love
life
in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ
and the Spirit of God
And Jesus said
unto them,
I am the bread of life;
he that cometh to me shall never hunger,
and he that believeth on me
shall never thirst.
I am the living bread
that came down from heaven;
if any man eat of this bread,
he shall live forever;
and the bread that I will give is my flesh,
which I will give
for the life of the world.
