Number two in a Series of Articles in the Next 24 Hours

The following articles appearing on A Crooked Path may at first look appear purely political, or purely a current event, but they go deeper and directly to the heart and mind, the continuing decline in the spiritual health of a nation. The moral and spiritual rot and decline accelerating throughout America, the West, and all the world.

While the subject matter of the following articles might seem unfit for a place stating it is a Christian faith-based website, made straight by the Word of God, every act, everything that occurs on this earth — everything — is within the framework of the Biblical times in which we live and goes directly to the lost state of massive populations of people. Of the erosion, corruption, and decline in leadership. Of the rampant and escalating immoralities, lies, and delusions present in our leaders, in our people, in the leaders and people of the world.

A corrupt and fallen world. A corrupt and perverse people. A people in great darkness and falling into greater delusion, greater lies, evil ways. If that is possible. And it is.

Some of the articles that will appear here this night will be upsetting. They ought to be. Some will cause the reader to doubt what they are reading is factual. And it will make many uncomfortable. Many even angry.

Don’t be angered. Be directed and led to use this information for increased spiritual wisdom and understanding. To hone, refine and strengthen your spiritual walk.

Be directed to greater, bolder, deeper larger praying. Leaving yourself out of those prayers accept to ask in faith for God to increase your faith, your spiritual wisdom, and understanding, your knowledge and that His will be done on earth, as in heaven, and that His Kingdom come. Faithfully knowing that we may not understand how what is happening can and will eventually work to good, but it will.

Not the evil being done. Not the awful sin and carnage, lies, immoralities, and every abomination taking place in greater numbers. No! Heaven forbid! Do not misunderstand. But all that is taking place is taking place for a reason. And while we may want to stop the pain, stop the violence, stop the death and destruction, halt the sin, halt all the perceived bad things according to our ways and understanding know there is coming a time when justice, God’s justice will be met out and all will be understood.

We are not the power. It’s not about us.

God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit is the power. It’s all about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. And are we believing? Are we faithful? Are we knowledgeable and growing, becoming mature in the faith? Are we bearing fruit? Are we making God and our salvation and the salvation of others our priority? Are we able to understand what is happening and separate it wisely, in a healthy manner? Understanding the true nature of human beings and not being misled by all the worldly teachings, the false teachings about how good people are and how people can make this world a better place…if only.

The if only…

is missing the competition by everyone along those lines of thinking in that they never bring God, believing and following as a true disciple, the Holy Spirt, or the Bible into the conversation and equation. I write now of every person in the world, and at this place in time the overwhelming majority of professed Christians. Who are misled by vainly believing they can create the kingdom of God on earth. Themselves. If only…

By their power and will. Leaving God out of things.

If only…

They would come out of the darkness, leave the false teachings, and follow the doctrines of the Bible rather than the doctrines of man.

Lastly, do not misunderstand. I am not railing against the government or demeaning government or the offices of our country or any country. God created human government. God ordained the offices. We are to respect the offices. The power behind those, which is God. Not the revolving door of men and women passing through.

Too many are enraptured in politics, in nationalism, in whether they are this label or that one. And in all the noise and distractions they repeatedly fail to see Who and what they ought to be placing their faith in and following. Where and with Who, and how, and what they ought to be placing more of their time and attention.

Are we true disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ? According to the Word of God. Not what we might say or think, or what some modern-day unsound doctrine might say. According to the Word of God are we truly transformed? Born anew? Jesus’ disciples? True children of God and not this worlds?

Pondering those matters.

Rather than all these earthly matters.

As horrific, as troubling as they can be, as awful as they are. And many will be paid out here tonight.

Read the Bible.

There have always been horrific things, awful things, evil people, evil and terrible events.

Why?

Not because of God…

God created perfection and Paradise FOR man, FOR woman.

And who turned that to dung by their will and disobedience?

Did God?

No, but the overwhelming majority, even those that claim they don’t believe in God blame God for everything. “How can a loving God allow…?”

Simple, folks. Because the earth still exists. It’s full of people. All who are sinners and it is our sinful natures, OUR DOING that all this happens. God didn’t make this world as it is now and has been since Adam and Eve disobeyed. We the people, our natures, our rebellion built-in, our sin has made the world as it has been all these thousands of years. Stop blaming God. Stop questioning God. Stop expecting God to fix everything you don’t like. It will not happen with all these people and all our sin and rebellion folks.

We have wrought what we have by our rebellion and disobedience towards God.

Yes, there most certainly is Divine Providence. A lot of it.

But if you want all the terrible things to end?

Then the world ends.

And it will.

Because not until the Lord’s work is done and not until the last soul that comes to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and they commit their heart, their lives to Jesus, and after that last person does? And there is so much sin, so many terrible things taking place on earth, and it becomes so awful that unless God shortened the days even the elect would be lost?

Then will it all change. According to the Word of God.

And everything that you see and hear that makes you sad, makes you cringe, makes you want to turn the TV off, shut things out, get off this page of A Crooked Path, and you’d just like to have 3 wishes to make the world a better place it’s become so dreadful, violent, immoral, unrighteous and wicked (example — Harvard University just hired an atheist to be the Chaplain at that school. Why? Because more than 40% of young people are not religious and don’t believe, yet this atheist has been hired to be the Chaplain to supposed Christian, Jewish and young people professing various faiths. He’s also the Chaplain to Hindu’s you name it — THIS is the lost, evil state of things on this earth, in this spiritually diseased land. The Lord will be returning — sooner than later, dear ones, sooner than later. So, increase in spiritual faith, knowledge, strength, wisdom, and understanding. Daily. Nightly. Continually) that isn’t going to happen until the Lord Jesus Christ does return.

In the meantime? Until then?

Suit up! Armour up! Wisdom and understanding and knowledge up! Grow up in spiritual maturity and spiritual matters and come to see and understand what is happening and why.

And if you’ve been putting faith in a government? A man, a woman? A political party? A nation? A manmade document? An election?

Well, you’d better get your priorities and life in order. Now. Not later.

And while I may rail against certain men and various actions I respect the authority established and ordained by God. I respect the offices. The government was established. That’s one thing that is so upsetting — because those that are within those offices and governments ordained by God do not truly see God, know God, turn to God — not really — for if they did? While it might not be the Garden of Eden before Adam and Eve listened to the devil rather than God it sure would be a different place and places and people than it is.

And it’s only going to get worse. Not better. Because of the wickedness, the immorality, the rebellion, the false teachings, the false teachers, the liars and their lies, the delusion, the sin will only metastasize and grow. To ever deadly and terrible proportions. The darkness will only increase.

If doubting this, or not liking it?

It’s not according to me. It’s according to the Word of God. Because of the hearts and minds of men and women and many children at this place in world history.

There are answers. All the right ones. There is a truth to be known, found, and discovered that can change everything. For the better, in the long run, as eternally. For an INDIVIDUAL. And that is found, only found, always found in the inerrant infallible living and active Word of God.

Come to understand why the things that are happening are taking place. It can be understood. Increase in knowledge, in wisdom, in understanding. God didn’t create human beings with the large functioning brains in their heads that He did merely as filler. Or to be so preoccupied with what game is on Sunday, what’s on TV tonight, or to not be able to discern the times. Know the signs.

Ask for wisdom, spiritual wisdom, in FAITH, and it will be given. Ask for spiritual blessings and they will be given, when prayed fr faithfully. Not according to our will, but according to God’s will.

Let’s live lives aspiring to heaven rather than continually attempting to lower God to our base level, or not think of Him at all.

Now the articles for this evening and perhaps into the morning…

Harvard University names a devout ATHEIST as its new head chaplain who describes himself as ‘humanist rabbi’: Ivy League school says it’s catering to the 40% of students who are NOT religious or agnostic

  • Greg Epstein will become the head of representatives of the religious community at the Ivy League School
  • Epstein, who has served as Harvard’s ‘humanist chaplain’ since 2005, is a devout atheist and caters to atheists, agnostics and humanists
  • His elevation to the position is meant to be inclusive of larger and larger numbers of Americans who identify as spiritual but not religious
  • ‘There is a rising group of people who no longer identify with any religious tradition but still experience a real need for conversation and support around what it means to be a good human and live an ethical life,’ he said
  • A survey of the school’s class of 2019 showed 21% of the class as agnostic and 17% were atheists; two thirds identified as ‘somewhat or very liberal’
  • The position of chaplain is not necessarily tied to one particular religion, although it has origins in the Christian tradition

Harvard University has chosen a devout atheist and ‘humanist chaplain’ to lead the  Ivy League school founded by Puritans to educate their clergy with the motto ‘Truth for Christ and the Church.’

Greg Epstein, 44, who was raised in a reformed Jewish household in Queens, New York, was named president of the chaplains for the religious community at the school after serving as Harvard’s ‘humanist chaplain’ since 2005.

He is a self-avowed devout atheist who wants to serve fellow nonreligious believers as well as agnostics and humanists at the Cambridge, Massachusetts, school.

That’s a far departure for a school founded by Puritans in 1636 and named for pastor John Harvard. The university did not even have a president who wasn’t a clergyman for its first 70 years.

But Epstein said his elevation to the position is meant to be inclusive of larger and larger numbers of Americans and especially progressive Harvard students who identify as spiritual but not religious.

‘There is a rising group of people who no longer identify with any religious tradition but still experience a real need for conversation and support around what it means to be a good human and live an ethical life,’ he told the New York Times.

The Harvard Crimson did a survey of the school’s class of 2019 and found that there are indeed increasing numbers of students without a designated faith.

The survey showed 21% of the class as agnostic and 17% were atheists. This compared to 17% Catholics, 10% Jewish and 3% of Hindus and Muslims.

This isn’t just a trend at Harvard: a Pew Research Center poll found 20% of Americans identify as atheist, agnostic or non-religious.

That same poll found two thirds of surveyed freshmen identified as ‘somewhat or very liberal’; only 12% of the class said they were at least ‘somewhat conservative.’

Epstein himself served as the national chair of the organization ‘Humanists for Biden/Harris’ during the 2020 election.

The university is known for often taken progressive views on social issues and outrage at more conservative faculty.

Recently, a professor faced serious backlash for refusing to use the term ‘pregnant people’  and insisting on using the terms male and female.

The university also removed Donald Trump-supporter US Rep Elise Stefanik from a panel for perpetuating claims of voter fraud

Students have also filed a petition to ban Trump administration alums from speaking or teaching at the school.

The position of chaplain is not necessarily tied to one particular religion, although it has origins in the Christian tradition.

The Harvard Chaplains describe themselves as: ‘a professional community of more than 30 chaplains, representing many of the world’s religious, spiritual, and ethical traditions, who share a collective commitment to serving the spiritual needs of the students, faculty, and staff of Harvard University.

These chaplains cover every mainstream faith that you can think of: everyone from Catholics, Jews and Muslims to Hindus, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Mormons and Sikhs.

Epstein has served as the ‘humanist chaplain’ at Harvard since 2005 and now also serves at MIT.

Epstein was the unanimous choice as chief chaplain by a nominating committee that includes members who are Lutheran, Christian Scientist, evangelical Christian and Bahá’í.

Margit Hammerstrom, the Christian Science chaplain at Harvard, said that Epstein’s elevation displays how people of different faiths can communicate together and serve at a progressive university.

‘Maybe in a more conservative university climate there might be a question like ‘What the heck are they doing at Harvard, having a humanist be the president of the chaplains?’ she said. ‘But in this environment it works. Greg is known for wanting to keep lines of communication open between different faiths.’

From Puritans to Atheists, who are the Harvard chaplains?

Though it may be known as a bastion of the Ivy League elite today, Harvard University and it’s chaplains have a distinctly Puritan origin.

The Puritans who colonized New England in the 1630s wanted to be sure that their clergy were well-educated, which is what led to the founding of Harvard.

The Cambridge school was initially founded to educate the ministry. Their original motto was ‘Truth for Christ and the Church.’

The school was named after the pastor John Harvard and did not have a president who was not a clergyman for over 70 years after its founding.

Nearly four centuries later, Harvard’s organization of chaplains has elected as its next president an atheist named Greg Epstein, who takes on the job this week. Epstein has served the chaplains since 2005.

The first ‘humanist’ chaplain, who served atheists and agnostics at Harvard, came to the school in 1974. Thomas Ferrick is believed to be America’s first Atheist chaplain, according to Epstein.

The Harvard Chaplains are a professional community of over 30 chaplains, who they say represent many of the world’s religious, spiritual, and ethical traditions, who share a collective commitment to serving the spiritual needs of the school’s students, faculty, and staff.

“Maybe in a more conservative university climate there might be a question like ‘What the heck are they doing at Harvard, having a humanist be the president of the chaplains?’ one chaplain said. ‘But in this environment, it works. Greg is known for wanting to keep lines of communication open between different faiths.”

Epstein’s biography describes himself as a ‘professionally trained member of the clergy who supports the ethical and communal lives of nonreligious people.’

Epstein previously held a congregation of humanists and atheists in the Boston area who met in Harvard Square for weekly services. He also serves as a chaplain at MIT.

What does his work involve? According to the Times, he ‘frequently meets individually with students who are struggling with issues both personal and theological, counseling them on managing anxiety about summer jobs, family feuds, the pressures of social media and the turbulence endemic to college life.’

Epstein authored a book in 2010 called Good Without God: What A Billion Nonreligious People Do Believe.

Epstein has been a speaker and organizer for universities, community and state colleges, urban public and expensive private high schools, at the Democratic National Convention, the United States Congress and Senate, megachurches, synagogues and Islamic centers, hospitals and prisons, and interfaith and civic institutions of many other kinds.

He also authored a book in 2010 called Good Without God: What A Billion Nonreligious People Do Believe.

In 2005, Epstein received ordination as a Humanist Rabbi from the International Institute for Secular Humanistic Judaism. He holds a B.A. (Religion and Chinese) and an M.A. (Judaic Studies) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Masters of Theological Studies from the Harvard Divinity School, and he completed a year-long graduate fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

And this from a professed Christian, who by his words demonstrates he is not a true Bible-believing Chrisitan but another sad, lost by-product of unsound doctrines, heresies, false teachers, modern-day psychology, philosophies, and New Age (pagan) doctrines — NOT Biblically sound true doctrine…and as always, as you’ll see in reading the following using Scripture to twist and pervert to meet a wrong understanding, Scripture used to further a lie and unsound doctrine as Satan and those belonging to him, the father of lies and hater of God, hater of Christ, hater of the Holy Spirit, hater of the Word of God, hater of praying to God and hater of true believers hater of the truth always do… (KP@ACP)

Harvard Hires Atheist To Fill Chief Chaplain Position

August 26, 2021

Reprinted from Christians Who Curse Sometimes

When Harvard was established, it was built under the slogan “Truth For Christ and For The Church”, and was named after a pastor, John Harvard. The school has had presidents that do not identify with the Christian faith, however, they have made a move that is shocking people of faith in the University.

Harvard’s organization of chaplains has named their new president: an atheist named Greg Epstein.

The Chief Chaplain is not only in charge of the Christian campus communities, but coordinates the activities of more than 40 university chaplains, who lead the Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist and other religious communities on campus. Many students are in support of the decision, stating the influence Epstein has had on their lives (and faith)

There is a rising group of people who no longer identify with any religious tradition but still experience a real need for conversation and support around what it means to be a good human and live an ethical life

Greg Epstein

For those who may be surprised that a group of leaders from all faiths chose Epstein to lead their team, the choice was unanimous by all faith leadership, stating that the decision was “obvious”

…in this environment [Harvard] it works. Greg is known for wanting to keep lines of communication open between different faiths.

Margit Hammerstom, Christian Science Chaplain

The move has been described as a push to have someone who is unattached to any of the religions take the lead to better connect everyone in an unbiased and fair way.

We’re presenting to the university a vision of how the world could work when diverse traditions focus on how to be good humans and neighbors.”

Rev. Kathleen Reed, Lutheran Chaplain

Epstein has also been supporting of the agnostic/atheist community on Harvard’s campus, offering them sermons and community without the aspect of God.

While I understand that this move will definitely make some waves and cause a lot of controversy, I think there are some beautiful lessons to be learned here.

Do I think Christians need to be better at being in community with those of different beliefs? Absolutely. One of our goals as believers is to love all as Christ loves us, and that shouldn’t be selective of what someone claims to believe, or if they have no beliefs at all.

Christ’s love is best spread through action, not words.

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
