Even with the decline, while it would appear by taking the percentage of 8 out of 10 people in America who believe in God that we’re in good shape, nothing could be further from the truth.

How’s that, you may ask?

Because the majority who profess to believe in God do not believe in the God of the Holy Bible. They have a God of convenience, a God which they have formed in their image fitting their beliefs, feelings, and what as individuals they state is truth according to them. Totally ignoring, totally deploring the One True God of the Holy Bible.

The overwhelming majority of those in America stating they are Christians do not possess or live their lives based upon having a Biblical worldview, but rather an affirming of the world behaviour and view.

This is not being judgmental or self-righteous. This is merely observing, listening, and discerning well and wisely according to what God’s Word says is how an individual who truly believes in Him lives. If that individual truly believes, lives to please the Lord, and does so according to the Word of God.

Without worldly variation woven into the fabric of that individual’s life thus making the garment they clothe themselves in weak, flimsy, and nothing resembling the full armour of God [see Ephesians 6 verses 10-20.

Even that Old Dragon, the devil, Satan who has been cast down believes in God. Belief in God does not mean or assure one of living a godly life, or living changed in heart, mind, and spirit and thus daily words and deeds.

Do you truly believe in the God of the whole Bible? Understanding there is no Old Testament God and a New Testament God, two different personalities. God is immutable. Without beginning without end and never changing for one second throughout.

Or do you believe in a God created in your mind, in your image so that you can go about daily oblivious, clueless, feeling wonderful about your awesome outstanding self? Refusing to learn, refusing to submit, refusing to obey, refusing to humble oneself contritely before the Lord to honour, serve, and obey Him and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, repenting truly thus permitting the Holy Spirit to indwell your being changing you as only faith and obedience in the One True God of the Holy Bible can?

Otherwise? All your words, and how you answer a poll or survey if asked are in vain.

It’s the whole real God of the Holy Bible.

Or a false god.

A god created in the mind of a person to suit them, and make them feel good is not the God of the Bible. And is only a false god.

No in-between. No accommodation. No appeasement. Period.

All or nothing.

Light or darkness.

Truth or the lie.

Period.

Not because a sinner such as I say so, but because the Word of God says so. And it is only the Word of God we ought to go to, believe in, and behave in our daily lives accordingly.

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles [the unbelieving world] honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

1 Peter 2:11-12 — English Standard Version

There are only two kinds of people on earth. True Christians, are truly those who believe and live to please and obey the God of the Holy Bible. And then everyone else. Only those two kinds of people.

While terms such as “liberal church,” “liberal Christians,” “Christian nationalism,” “Homosexual Christian,” and such are bantered about? Those are distracting and only further eroding the syntax of the English language. Perverting more and more words and meanings.

There are only true, born anew, transformed by the Supernatural power of the Spirit of God Bible-believing [all of it every word] real disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, thus real Christians.

And everyone else.

Period.

No accommodation. No adjusting the Bible to suit the perverse and dark age we now live in wherein to be a TRUE Christian is to be hated, reviled, America is no longer neutral or accepting of true Bible-believing, Bible-speaking disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

There are no part-time soldiers in this war. This spiritual war.

As the senior pastor of the church, my wife and I are members of spoke this morning, “There are no chocolate soldiers in this war. No chocolate soldiers that will melt from the heat. Time to put on the full armour of God.”

If you are the kind that will melt in the present persecution and the persecution to come which will be unlike anything the earth has ever witnessed or ever will [see Matthew 24 ]it’s time to temper and harden yourself in the loving merciful light and truth of the Word and discern well and wisely, ask for increased faith and wisdom, and keep the full armour of God on always ready.

Nationwide Belief in God at an All-time Low

A survey by Gallup recently revealed that 81% of American adults believe in God, the lowest percentage since 1944. Between the early 1940s — when Gallup first started conducting the survey — and 2011 more than 90% of adults believed in God.

Although a vast majority of Americans still do believe in God, 17% do not, a number that David Closson, Family Research Council’s director of Family Research Council’s Center for Biblical Worldview, thinks is linked to the cultural, political, and spiritual state of the country.

“The latest Gallup poll is not surprising to me,” Closson explained. “Research has shown us that the ‘no’s’ — those who don’t know or don’t care about what they believe — has steadily been rising. While it’s sad that less Americans believe in God, it’s nonetheless predictable.”

Surveyors asked American adults to respond to the question: “Do you believe in God?” with “yes,” “no,” or “no opinion” as the possible answers The responses were not meant to signify whether or not the person is a committed Christian but rather shows that they believe in a higher power regardless of religion or practice.

There are multiple factors to consider when assessing the 6% drop in adults who believe in God over the last five years. Gallup’s data shows that belief in God has fallen the most among young adults and people on the Left side of the political spectrum.

Between 2013-2017, 84% of the respondents who identified as Democrats said they believed in God. But this year, that number has declined by 12 points to 72%. Alternatively, in 2013-2017, 95% of the respondents who align with the Republican party said they believe in God. In 2022, that number has dropped by three points to 92%.

“Over the last 30 years, the two main political parties in this country have diverged on almost every issue,” said Closson. “Increasingly, Democrats are less religious and less tethered to the principles of God’s Word. As a result, it isn’t surprising that less Democrats believe in God today as in previous years.”

Interestingly, more people of color said they believe in God than non-Hispanic white people. Of all the Black, Hispanic, Asian, Arab, or Biracial respondents between 2013 to 2017, 92% claimed to believe in God. The subgroup now stands lower at 88%. For non-Hispanic whites, 85% claimed belief in God in the same five-year timeframe, compared to 79% who claim belief now.

In 2021, Family Research Council’s Center for Biblical Worldview conducted a survey that revealed how different generations subscribe to a biblical worldview. Compared to simply proclaiming that one believes in God, this survey tested how engaged participants are in their faith and how it aligns with Scripture. In the 64-question survey created by Dr. George Barna of Arizona Christian University, respondents had to get a score of 80% to be classified as Christians that ascribe to a biblical worldview.

“Studies show that 8% of Baby Boomers have a biblical worldview compared to 6% of Gen-X and 4% of millennials,” said Closson. “For Gen-Z, that number is even lower. As less people have a biblical worldview, we can expect less people to hold the tenets of a biblical worldview (such as belief in a triune God).”

Closson predicts that the number of people who believe in God will continue to drop.

“These numbers ought to motivate Christians to do what Jesus told us to do which is share the gospel, discipline our children, attend faithful churches, read Scripture, and seek to be light and salt (Mat. 5:13-16),” Closson advised. “Jesus warned us that we would experience persecution (see John 15-16), so we shouldn’t be surprised when we find ourselves in the minority. Rather than be discouraged, we should seek to honor the Lord in every way we can.”
