Notes by Ken Pullen —

All Scripture from the King James Version

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Matthew 12:36-37

When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Ezekiel 33:8

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Romans 14:12

My brethren, be not many masters [teachers], knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

James 3:1

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

James 1:19

When I received and read “God’s Two Poems,” by Pastor Stam it brought again to mind how so many dishonor God our Father, God the Creator, and they do it so casually caught in the snare of the world, the snare of Satan. And they fluff it off. They don’t even think — and that is the problem. No regard. No thought. But ignorance is not bliss and ignorance is not an excuse. Even the most ignorant among us know of God and that God is credited with creation. God and Jesus made all things. Everything.

Yet universally, and among most professed “Christians” they use the words “mother nature” every time they speak of some part of creation, be it flora, fauna, or the weather — every aspect of creation is referenced in the pagan, matriarchal “mother nature.”

We have become very lax and nonchalant in our behaviors, in our speech. And this is wrong. Not according to me — according to the inerrant Word of God.

This is not some innocent or benign thing. Do not make light or shrug such off, as this goes directly to the ability of slow and constant erosion, slow and constant removing oneself from the Word and ways and instructions of God to become so influenced by the world, by the father of lies, Satan, that one sees no harm in their words or beliefs, and they never think on the truth they will be held accountable for every word. Every word. And when a person utters the words, “mother nature,” they are directly, openly, blatantly DISHONORING and DISRESPECTING and DENYING God the Father as God the Creator of all things and giving honor to the devil. Make no mistake.

Guard your words. Think before speaking. Be more as King David advised his son, Solomon upon transferring kingship to Solomon, and more as king Solomon — seeking and asking for wisdom, and to keep charge of the Lord thy God;

Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, “I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:”

1 Kings 2:1-3

In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, “Ask what I shall give thee.”

Solomon’s Prayer for Wisdom

(2 Chronicles 1:7-13)

And Solomon said, “Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?”

And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, “Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.”

1 Kings 3:5-14

May the first thought and request of all of us be to ask God our Father for spiritual wisdom and understanding. Nothing for ourselves other than God’s wisdom and understanding, and all else will be provided.

And let us begin living wisdom by not so easily being ensnared in this world. Cease this day and all your days referring to God’s great poem, God’s creation as “mother nature” dishonoring the Lord our God!

Look, see the awe and wonder. Fall down prone in reverence. Give thanks to God the Creator and push away worldly influence and words of which we all will be held accountable.

And may this apply and start first and most with me.

I never use the worldly dishonoring words, “mother nature,” but I need to think before speaking, measure my words, and only speak that which is pleasing and acceptable before the Lord our God and not be idle or ignorant in my speech, as I know and believe all of God’s inerrant Word, and I know and believe I will be held accountable to EVERY word, and I have much to repent of, thereof…and as one who teaches I will be held even more accountable (see James 3:1).

May we all mediate upon these words of Scripture this day and carry these words of Scripture in our hearts longer than a mere day.

Begin by being aware and never dishonoring the Lord our God again by uttering the words “mother nature,” and give all honor, glory, and praise to God the Creator, God our Father. For every word does matter, every word does have weight and accountability — let us not allow our words to be a millstone around our necks dragging us down to the pit!

God’s Two Poems

by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

In Romans 1:18-20 the Apostle Paul declares that ungodly men are “without excuse” because they are surrounded by the evidences of the Creator’s “eternal power and Godhead.”

Our Authorized Version calls the creation, in this passage, “the things that are made,” but in the Greek it is called literally “the poyeema,” from which we get our word poem. The Apostle refers, of course, to the harmony of God’s creation, and is it not indeed amazing how billions of heavenly bodies can continually revolve in the vastness of space and never collide! And are not the flowers, the seasons, the sunsets all part of a harmonious creation, which God alone could have conceived and set to music?

But very interestingly, this word poyeema is used just once more in Scripture. We find it in Ephesians 2:10, where it is translated “workmanship.” Let us consider this passage in its context:

“For by grace are ye saved, through faith, and that not of your- selves; it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

For we are His workmanship [Gr., poyeema], created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Romans speaks of the poem of creation, Ephesians of the poem of redemption, and the latter is the more wonderful. An old hymn says: “‘Twas great to speak a world from naught; ’tis greater to redeem.”

In this poem of redemption which God has composed, we believers too often want to change some word or phrase. We would like this or that in our circumstances to be different. Ah, but this would destroy the meter and meaning of God’s new creation.

Thank God, when we believers go to be with Christ, we will see the beauty and glory of the poem of redemption. Then we will rejoice that He did indeed “work all things together for good” for us.
