All Scripture used from the King James Holy Bible

The Creation of Man

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:4-7

All Scripture is God-Breathed

But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 3:10-17

This is a very personal column. In correspondence with a dear sister in Christ I have known for many years I mentioned how I pray. Some of the thoughts in my heart as I pray as I go about the course of my day in my waking hours.

I don’t even know what led me to writing to her what I did, but I told her I think daily upon and give thanks daily to God Almighty, and Jesus Christ the Lord, for my every breath, my every heartbeat, my every step and everything I have. My very life. Every breath. Every heartbeat. She replied that she is continually aware that were it not for the grace and will of God she would die and she continually thinks on how God provides for her, provides everything for her.

If not for God’s will, God’s love, God’s mercy, I would not have one more breath. One more heartbeat. One more step. None of us would. Yet how many think on these things in the course of their day?

I believe every single word in the Holy Bible. As the inerrant God-breathed words of God given to us for instruction, reproof, chastisement, growth, life itself.

I believe we are created of dust and God took the dust of the earth, which he had created and willed just by saying, “Let there be…” and then at the right time in creation God formed man and literally breathed life into man. Gave man his heartbeats, his breath, his physical being — while at the same instance of physical life God breathed a spirit and soul into man. The spiritual part of man. The most important part of man.

I am nothing, I have nothing, I can do nothing without the will of God. Without God granting me more heartbeats, more breaths, more steps, more time in this physical realm.

And I give thanks daily, continually for His mercy, grace, love and will to keep me.

I think about each heartbeat and breath God provides for me. For every person alive in the flesh.

And I give thanks daily.

What really matters though, what I am more thankful for is the breath of grace, the life of salvation Jesus Christ breathed into me to save me from a life of sin and from eternal damnation which would result in eternal separation from God and Christ the Lord.

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

(Luke 24:36-43; 1 John 1:1-4)

Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

John 20:19-23

I know it is only through the death, shed blood of, and resurrection of Jesus, along with repentance and faith that the grace of God is bestowed on individuals to be saved, forgiven, and made a chosen person of God — but it is the breath of Jesus, the breath of the life of the Holy Spirit which must be acknowledged and inhaled. Allowed to give new life to a new man, a new creature, born anew to serve the Lord.

With this I give thanks daily in all things. Everything. From whatever food I am blessed with, my shelter, everything the Lord provides including my every heartbeat and every breath.

In my prayers; spontaneously in my waking moments thoughts.

Most of all I give thanks — literally feeling peace, joy, comfort within my spirit and soul — a feeling which words fail to God daily for His word, His Son, His grace, mercy, love, and for allowing a sinner such as me to feel His presence able to acknowledge His breath and to have not only my physical life but my spiritual life, and the hope of eternal life with Him and Jesus Christ the Lord along with all the heavenly hosts.

The average adults heart beats between 60 and 100 times a minute.

The average adult breaths 12 times a minute.

If cremated and returned to the dust from which we were created the average adult weighs in around 5 pounds.

God provides every heartbeat, every breath, and the life from the dust which we are made. Yes, I’m redundant, as redundant as God allowing my heart to beat I will proclaim my thanks unto the Lord for His mercy and  grace to a sinner such as me!

God also provides life beyond death of the physical. God provides life beyond the temporary which is this earth and all it is and has been.

We never know when God’s will stops our hearts, provide the last exhalation. We need to give thanks now and continually but of far, far greater value and importance we need to turn to and heed God’s breathed living word of reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness — the way of the Lord, and to turn to the God breathed living word to know sound doctrine which leads to life — eternal life.

Feel your heartbeat?

Breath in and out.

That is God’s will, God’s power, God’s plan keeping you in this life.

Now turn to the heartbeat, the breath providing life — Jesus Christ and serve the Lord thankful in all things.

It is truly the only way to life / live. Truly.

It took me about 55 years of ignorance, suffering, belligerent self-will walking in darkness before I learned this, before I was able to inhale the breath of life provided by the Holy Spirit of God.

I pray none of you reading this walk in darkness so long as I, and that each of us gives thanks continually for every heartbeat, every breath for if not for God we would surely die — and more importantly none of you go without receiving the beating heart, the breath of life provided by God’s Word, God’s mercy, God’s grace, and the salvation provided by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That you turn to God, turn to Christ, fall on our knees, may we fall prone in thanks committing our lives as dutiful disciples and servants unto the Lord our God and Christ our Saviour making Him Lord of our lives!

God breathed…and I now live in Christ and Christ in me.

Thank the Lord!
