Spiritual Renewal: God Renews

If able to take a vacation, one in which driving to an airport and getting on a plane to reach the destination would you drive to the airport and then go no further than the terminal and think that you’ve arrived?

This is exactly what everyone does — everyone — who looks to a political solution and goes no further. Then wondering why things never change, or the only change is further erosion and decline.

We may be programmed to believe a political solution, a certain politician, or a certain election will be the remedy and make things better, set things right. Only it never really comes to fruition, does it? No matter who no matter what election no matter when.

You finally have the right person for you to enter your life. Someone you’re more keen about than anyone else. Ever. You’re careful and take your time. Making sure as best as a person can this is the one! After what is the proper timeframe for you, marriage enters the picture. Ahh, this step will really set things and be perfect. And if not perfect so, so much better than what has transpired.

The day arrives. You dress. Really sharp. This is it. The day.

You drive to the church. And get out of the car. And stand at the entrance to the church but do not go through the doors and down the aisle.

Why do that? And that is exactly what anyone who categorizes everything as political, leftists versus conservatives does. Refusing to move on and open the door and discover it isn’t about who is political but who possesses a Biblical worldview and understands it’s all spiritual. Political is just a place along the way but not the destination where solutions are found. Not even in the Republican party, or in Mr. Donald Trump. Sure, it would be a refreshing change and appear as a solution but that is only an illusion.

It’s all spiritual [of God, of the Lord Jesus Christ, of the Holy Spirit, and of the whole Holy Bible], and until and unless arriving there a person is really nowhere.

The overwhelming majority of people in America are really nowhere, at the wrong destination in their minds, in their hearts every single hour of every single day. Whether they think of themselves as political or not.

They do not take the walk to the destination that is required.

It’s all spiritual. You’ve heard everything is political, it’s all political?

No, not nearly as much as it’s all spiritual.

Continue on. Further. To arrive at the destination.

That destination is the clear understanding it’s all spiritual and until and unless arriving at the destination realizing this everything else will be in vain. Everything else will be in vain.

America is a mess. That means the American people are a mess. An utter mess. Enough of the pretending and delusion already.

Take the time to read what George Barna and the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University have learned with the American Worldview Inventory 2024 — Report #1.

Here’s something to get you started;

  • Of the 170,000,000 adults who self-identified as Christian, 92% are Syncretists.
  • Fewer than one out of 10 who attend a Protestant church have a biblical worldview (9%), while 88% qualify as Syncretists.

After reading through the latest and very tragic discoveries of the Geroge Barna group, arguably the most reliable and accurate survey and polling organization in America, be sure to click on the link to read the full report. Links are provided in this preface and at the very end of Mr. George Barna’s Highlights information.

If idle, if stuck at the it’s all political destination it’s time to fuel up get fed get back in whatever the mode of transport, and continue on to the destination of real discovery, truth, reality, and the place where everyone needs to go in order to know what is really needed in every individual’s life and for the people of America — a nation in great spiritual decline. A spiritual dearth. Following what they ought not to follow and refusing to follow that which they should.

For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

Jude 1:4

And my people upon whom my name is called shall be broken, and they will pray and they will beg from before me and they will return from their evil ways, also I shall hear from Heaven and I shall forgive their sins and I shall heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

George Barna: Highlights from American Worldview Inventory 2024: Report #1: America Needs Spiritual Renewal More than a Political Majority

New research from AWVI 2024 highlights the extensive degree of fragmentation rocking American society.

The clearest indicator of this fragmentation is the finding that the overwhelming majority of American adults—92%—embrace a worldview known as Syncretism—a fusion of disparate ideologies, beliefs, behaviors, and principles culled from a variety of competing worldviews into a customized blend. Only 4% of American adults possess a biblical worldview.

Rather than developing a coherent, cohesive life philosophy, Americans instead are embracing defining beliefs and behaviors from an average of more than 10 different worldviews.

Syncretism seems to be rampant throughout the Christian church.

  • Of the 170 million adults who self-identified as Christian, 92% are Syncretists.
  • Fewer than one out of 10 who attend a Protestant church has a biblical worldview (9%), while 88% qualify as Syncretists.
  • One-quarter of all self-professed Christians (25%) are associated with the Catholic church. Among Catholics, 1% have a biblical worldview and 98% are Syncretists.
  • One out of six self-labeled Christians (16%) do not identify with either Protestant or Catholic churches. Of those adults, 4% have a biblical worldview and 96% are Syncretists.

Paralleling the rise of Syncretism, most adults share similar perspectives on fewer than one-third of the 53 worldview indicators measured in the AWVI 2024. And only nine items garnering majority support are actually beneficial in fostering national unity and progress, including:

  • Never worshipping a supernatural authority other than the God of Israel
  • Believing the Bible is an authoritative and trustworthy guidebook for life
  • Deeming Jesus Christ to be an important guide for your life
  • Contending that hatred and aggression are not necessary for personal survival
  • Choosing to repay any money that you borrow from someone else
  • Rejecting the philosophy that you can do whatever you want to do as long as it does not harm other people
  • Choosing not to personally participate in an abortion, regardless of their belief about the permissibility of other people having an abortion
  • Not attempting to cast a spell on other people
  • Taking time to thank, praise, and worship God at least once during the week

The AWVI 2024 also found significant disagreement on a number of worldview perspectives, underscoring the challenge of trying to unite Americans these days, including:

  • Basis of truth
  • Whether other people deserve to be respected
  • Importance of the God of Israel as an authority source/guide for life
  • Belief about the value of human life
  • Acceptance of the existence of absolute moral truths
  • Existence of Satan
  • Means to happiness in life
  • Morality of intentionally deceiving other people
  • Morality of consensual pre-marital sexual relations
  • Personal commitment to discerning and doing God’s will
  • Appropriate relationship to/treatment of animals

Sadly, people have become so self-focused and their beliefs so self-serving that no politician elected in 2024 can reasonably be expected to restore common purpose and shared vision to the nation without a serious reshaping of people’s worldviews.

Our future hinges on spiritual renewal. The only true hope for America at this point is a period of spiritual awakening that restores a widespread understanding and basis of truth, individual purpose, and personal responsibility within a community context.

The first release from this year’s American Worldview Inventory 2024, “America Needs Spiritual Renewal More than a Political Majority,” is available here.
