Judges 21:25
“…everyone did whatever he wanted.”
There was a time when there was no king in Israel, and everyone did whatever they wanted, whatever they determined was right.
Do you really believe anything changes as time passes when it comes to the human heart, human nature, what people are made of, and what people do?
There may be no king in America, or in most Western nations, in many nations of the world…but everyone does whatever they want. Taking what was going on in Israel over 3,000 years ago when the Book of Judges was written [no one knows the exact date or the authorship of the Book of Judges] I am confident in writing no matter the degree of sin and turning from God taking place in Israel then would not compare to the degree of sin, corruption of language, perversion of human sexuality, and degree of delusion and being in utter darkness wherein everyone does whatever they want.
Including the majority of those professing to be disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, thus Christians.
Including many pastors.
Including many professed Christian writers.
And especially the remaining population of America, and of most of the world. I am acutely aware that in many places, such as Afghanistan, Communist China, North Korea, Burma [now called Myanmar], and even within more and more established democracies in the West people cannot do whatever they want, whatever they think is right in their own eyes, but there are billions of individual souls on this small sphere traveling through the heavens created by God that do everything and anything they want and deem as right every day, every night, all the time.
Godless or creating a god of their liking and pleasure.
Excusing every sin under the sun.
Having been given over to their wicked, unrighteous, filled with darkness and delusion minds. Due to their turning from God and God knowing the condition of their hearts to be dead cold, godless, selfish, and consumed in and by the lies of the world [Satan].
How is this… everyone doing whatever they want all the time, no matter if under a king, a ruler, or an elected official going for the world?
Progress? Overcoming human nature? Evolution at work? Getting better all the time?
Or revealing the eroding, the rot, the corruption, the lusts and lies of people, places, and things — all the nouns really making noise and revealing the truth of everything among and within the web of lies and darkness that pervades and attempts to consume everything.
Yes, the people do whatever is right in their own eyes, and their own minds because they either refuse and deny the King, the Lord Jesus Christ, or they completely turn from God in their pursuit of fleeting pleasure.
