“Jesus Christ did not come to make life easy but rather to make men great.”

~Reverend J.H. Traugott

A Sermonette by Rev. J.H. Traugott

Rev. J.H. Traugott offered us the gift of insight many years ago. As we approach Christmas we should welcome his words and heed them.

We all have some type of accent. We hear different accents as we walk the streets… They may be Italian or German or Swedish or English… In one part of New York there is the Brooklyn accent and in another part of New York there is the Bronx accent. We watch television and we see the English Movies and we have another accent… No matter who we are we have an accent of some sort or another… My accents will be different than yours.

There was a man who lived nineteen hundred years ago and this man also spoke with an accent.

This man not only spoke with an accent, he also lived with an accent. This is what really distinguished him from other…

His accent in life was not what can I get out of Life, but what can I give to life…

His accent was not how comfortable can he be, but rather how comfortable he can make others… His accent was not in helping himself, but in helping others… His accent was not on his own health but on how healthy he can make others…

His accent was on living a full and rich and loving life… He was a man who did what he wanted to do, because he always wanted to do what was the right… He had no inhibitions or frustrations, because what he wanted to do and what he ought to do were exactly the same. His accent was on loving others…

Many people have said that his accent on life will never work… But these are the people who have never tried it… They have chosen the accent of their lives and their minds before giving this one a trial basis. This accent on love won’t make your life any easier. It will get you into trouble because you are going to see things that you can no longer overlook and bypass.

Also, the Galilean accent won’t necessarily give you health and happiness…. You may still have the aching back and the weak heart… but this accent on life will point you to the purpose of life. The meaning of life and the joy of life.

For it has been said that Jesus Christ did not come to make life easy, but rather to make men great…

The Galilean accent can do that for you…
