Links of the day…

An incredible thing happened here on ACP a couple of weeks ago, or just about a couple of weeks ago. Nothing of my doing. It’s God’s doing, it’s the world’s doing, it’s folks seeking sources of information, truth in news and events, which are all woven into a place in the Holy Bible. For the Word of God is the only book ever written, or that will be ever written, containing past, present, and future history.

The wacky, amazing, ridiculous thing? Even most of the folks proclaiming they are Christians don’t seem to know this, or care to know this. Just keep handwriting those signs that read John 3:16, and turn up in the endzone of football games — on SUNDAYS. Or finding satisfaction in reading a daily devotion, a verse, perhaps two in the devotion, and imagining oneself fed and full. Nourished. Growing.

Wow.

I want to be able to stand close to the throne of judgment when the LORD talks to the line of guys that figured that was what they had to do, on Sunday afternoons, when the TV camera was on them. Think there will be a pop quiz? Maybe we all should study deeply, daily, nightly, and be ready. Be ready now to give a defense of why we have the faith we do.

Know the Scriptures.

Especially this generation in a time such as this.

Have a foundation in Eschatology (/ˌɛskəˈtɒlədʒi/; from Ancient Greek ἔσχατος (éskhatos) ‘last‘ and -logy) concerns expectations of the end of the present age, human history, or the world itself. The end of the world or end times.

Yes, I copied that from Wikipedia. A place I rarely go to. I find it sorely lacking. About as reliable an umbrella made out of Swiss cheese in a thunderstorm.

Yes, having a foundation in eschatology…

It’s easy if we try. Apply ourselves. Have the Word of God and as best an understanding of God’s Word as we possibly can while we’re here.

Too bad so few pastors in so many churches in America refuse to do so.

People Get Ready*. More than some words from a popular song in the 1960s. Words given to His followers by Jesus. By the apostles. Especially this generation, in such a time as this.

As I set up this page with a heading, a photo, the date, and such, I had a germ of an idea of what to write. It was nothing like the words that have appeared here. That’s how it goes, what happens a lot of the time.

The words above are better than what I thought would appear here.
