Dear Professed Christian,

Ever take hold of the Holy Bible, daily, and not only read its words but study, meditate — think deeply on what has been read?

Didn’t think so.

How can I write such things? Evidence. Easily gleaned through basic observation and a working knowledge of history in my lifetime of 70 years. Fifty, even 40 years ago professed Christians spoke and wrote, and pastors even preached of sin, evil, Satan, and the world as being the Enemy!

It is glaringly clear the level of Bible ignorance, lack of Bible literacy, and absence of Bible fluency AMONG PROFESSED Christians today because now, and for far too many years professed Christians speak, write, think and pastors preach of liberal, leftist American political ideologies as the Enemy!

Clearly on the wrong path. The wrong walk. Priorities askew. Placing America first, this life and world first in their hearts and minds.

Don’t deny this. The evidence proves otherwise.

In speech. In what is written. In what is thought, discussed, and even preached. What dominates among professed Christians today.

First out of the gate, across the keyboards, from the pulpits, from the minds and tongues of those professing to be disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ are the words left, leftist, progressive, politics, Democrats, and the like while the words sin, evil, and Satan have all but vanished from the Christian lexicon.

Just read. Just listen. Just look around.

First thing EVERY professed Christian writer of note and acclaim, especially in America, does today is write about and point blame for every ill at the feet of the left, those leftists, progressives, liberals, Democrats, and so on. Nary a word ever written or spoken about sin or evil. Or Satan. Or the escalating spiritual war.

Ever come across in reading the Holy Bible where the great struggle, the reason everything happens that happens, the foundation of every wrong and terrible thing that occurred within and around every person mentioned in the Bible was due to leftist politics? Left-leaning ideologies? America? American elections? American politicians? Progressive political ideologies? Socialism? Communism?

Ever come across that at any place in God’s Word?

But I do imagine, if bold enough to actually pick up a Bible and really read it, asking for wisdom to understand it, asking faithfully, and even if a pagan, the chief among unbelievers — ever come across at any place in the  Bible the reasons everything is as it is is due to leftist political ideologies? Politics period?

Or, has it been, always been, and is about the raging war between God and Satan, and God’s people, God’s righteousness and Satan’s people and Satan’s evil?

Or has it all been about, is all about the inherent evil and sin within man, within woman?

But who wants to write or speak of that reality? Writing or speaking of such things as sin, evil, and the spiritual war as the root cause of every ill doesn’t garner a following. Readers. Getting paid for writing and or speaking it’s all about leftist politics and election outcomes, and politicians. to write or speak the truth? It’s all about sin, evil, and the rebellion of EVERY PERSON towards God. The inherently evil nature of man, woman, and yes, even child?

Why that doesn’t attract readership or secure speaking engagements or land radio-syndicated programs now, does it? So, let’s lie and add to the delusion at this precarious time in world history by making Satan and every minion and minster of Satan happy by our being so sidetracked and distracted, so ignorant, or is it merely fearful of speaking and writing the truth of why everything is as it is?

This tact while the situation of the people in America, the people of the world need the true gospel, the truth of the whole Word of God spoken in conversation, written as to the how, what, and why everything is as it is — and it isn’t about America, leftist ideologies, or elections — words need said, written, thought, discussed, and preached of the spiritual war. Of sin. Of evil. Of Satan. Of hell. Of judgment coming. Of redemption possible. Of salvation possible. As the road walking with Christ towards God and eternal life the only solution and cure for what ails this nation and the world.

Not more deluded articles, commentaries, videos, discussions, and sermons about how it’s the left that is destroying America. And the world.

No, dear professed Christian, it is only sin, evil. Satan and those doing the bidding of the devil that are destroying America and the world. And surprise, surprise! Among that throng exists those who identify and profess to be conservatives, even Republicans! Can you believe it!?

And do you imagine that in heaven there is discussion, thought of American political ideologies? The left? The right? Or just who and what is righteous in God’s sight and what is sinful and evil in His sight?

When lying prone trembling before God in judgment do you think it’ll matter at all that you were an American, an American registered voter, a registered Republican, a conservative? Really?

Or will none of that matter and everything else matter?

So, why then, dear Christian, do you submit to the indoctrination of the world, yes, indoctrination of the world as almost every Christian writer, speaker, and many a preacher who begins and ends their articles, their commentaries, the discussion with American politics, with fleeting worldly political ideologies prioritizing leftist political ideologies as the root problem? Rather than always going to the root cause, the source, the truth — it’s all about, only about sin, evil, and the spiritual war.

How about the devout American conservative Republicans finally become true children of God, making Christ preeminent in their lives and cease beginning and ending discussions, what is written placing political ideologies at the center, at the core of what ails this nation and this world?

Stop wrapping the blood-stained cross of Christ in the American flag. In American political ideologies. In making the things of this world the priority rather than the ways of God the priority.

Stop wrapping the Word of God in the American flag and making it on par, equal to, and preeminent, and try actually opening the Holy Bible, praying to the Holy Spirit for increased spiritual wisdom and discernment, and coming to see, to know, and understand what ought to be preeminent and the priority.

And it ain’t anything to do with America or leftist political ideologies or conservative political ideologies.

Try that sometime.

It isn’t the American left trying to remove the word of God.

It’s evil working to remove the Word of God. It’s the minions and ministers of Satan. And their nationality, their political leanings have little or nothing to do with their constant work for their master, Satan.

Until and unless we get this straight, get this right every written word, every spoken word otherwise is in vain. For it is not to spread the gospel and be a light unto the world, is it? As it’s merely to perpetuate the left vs. right endless debate that achieves nothing and takes no one anywhere they ought to really be.

This should be clear now. It’ll be crystal clear in the days to come. It’ll not even be remembered or thought about in the eternity to come. At least not in heaven…

Trying to Hide Our Heritage

An interesting event occurred last month without receiving much attention. An Arizona state representative was caught on video swiping Bibles in a House-members-only lounge and hiding them, presumably so that others could not read them.

A local TV reporter approached her and asked her why she had been taking the Bibles. But she walked away with no response.

She did this on more than one occasion, hiding the Scriptures under seats and in a refrigerator. An irony to this story is that the thieving legislator is supposedly an ordained Presbyterian minister – obviously a very liberal branch of Presbyterians.

Through the centuries, to our present time, efforts have been made to slam the Bible shut, barring potential exposure. This is the book that the Communists won’t let their people read.

But if the thieving lawmaker knew more about our nation’s heritage, she would not want to see that book hidden.

Many of our greatest presidents, including Washington and Lincoln, were regular readers of the Bible. In a book I co-wrote with Dr. Peter Lillback, George Washington’s Sacred Fire, we document how our first president used biblical phraseology and allusions over and over. It is as if had you cut the man, he would have bled Scripture.

As to our 16th president, on September 7, 1864, he received a gift – a beautiful copy of the Holy Bible. At last check, it is on display at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.

Lincoln said upon receiving it:

“In regard to this great book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to men. All the good the Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it we could not know right from wrong.”

While Thomas Jefferson had some privately-held unorthodox views about Christianity, he nonetheless had a high view of the morality of Jesus.

Our third president said that Jesus gave humanity “the most sublime and benevolent code of morals which has been offered to man.”

But many on the left today gnash their teeth at the Bible – like the woman who hid it to prevent it from being read.

A few decades ago, two of our then-most prominent magazines, TIME and Newsweek, recognized the positive impact of the Bible on our nation’s history.

For example, on the eve of the International Year of the Bible in 1983, Newsweek did a cover story on the role of the Bible and the founding of America.

Newsweek noted,

“for centuries [the Bible] has exerted an unrivaled influence on American culture, politics and social life. Now historians are discovering that the Bible, perhaps even more than the Constitution, is our founding document: the source of the powerful myth of the United States as a special, sacred nation, a people called by God to establish a model society, a beacon to the world.”

A few years later, TIME had an article entitled “Looking to Its Roots,” which said this:

“Ours is the only country deliberately founded on a good idea. That good idea combines a commitment to man’s inalienable rights with the Calvinist belief in an ultimate moral right and sinful man’s obligation to do good. These articles of faith, embodied in the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution, literally govern our lives today.”

In the mid-19th century, Robert C. Winthrop served in Congress. At one point he was the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Winthrop had a distinguished ancestral background. He was a direct descendant of Rev. John Winthrop, the founder of Boston in 1630, who famously said, “For we shall be as a city upon a hill.”

In 1852, Congressman Winthrop commented on the social impact of the Scriptures. He said,

“Diffuse the knowledge of the Bible, and the hungry will be fed, and the naked clothed. Diffuse the knowledge of the Bible and the stranger will be sheltered and the prisoner visited and the sick ministered unto. Diffuse the knowledge of the Bible and temperance will rest upon a surer basis than any mere private pledge or public statute. Diffuse the knowledge of the Bible and the peace of the world will be secured.”

Dr. D. James Kennedy commented on that quote:

“The Bible has done more to lift mankind than any other book. And it’s very interesting to note that throughout the world, wherever the knowledge of Scripture has gone, education has been lifted, and with education also the wealth of the nations has increased, the standard of living has gone up, and wherever knowledge of the Scripture is absent, there follows poverty, crime, immorality of every kind.”

The Bible is not a book to be stashed away under sofas or hidden in refrigerators. It is a book to be widely read for the good of all.
