Ahhh, summertime!

Nothing like it. Except for autumn, and if it’s a good spring. Or a very mild winter. But other than that? Ahhhhh, summertime!

The crack of the bat. All the missed calls by the umpires. The immense, sweaty person seated next to you passing gas since the first inning…the $12.00 hotdogs that cost the concessions .30 each and have been boiled in water to the point they turn green…ahhhhh, summertime!

I don’t watch baseball or go to games. I used to. It has nothing to do with my being a disciple of the LORD Jesus Christ, but due to the state of the game. It’s ridiculous. It’s also due to the front office of the team my wife and I used to follow. Which is a good lesson in life. Don’t follow anything of this world so closely it becomes upsetting when it screws up, because it will. Eventually.

The only part within this life where that doesn’t happen? Faith in God. A life committed, submitted to the LORD Jesus Christ, rather than any sport, team, organization, or thing of or on or in this world. Which is fading away. Which will disappear. Fold up. And be forever forgotten.

What endures and goes on? God. Jesus. The Holy Spirit. Our spirits and souls. Either in heaven or hell, even though sitting through many a ballgame seemed like being in hell. Not even close.
