The apostasy, the heresies, and the massive amount of false teachers preaching their unsound doctrines are not the exclusive to the United Kingdom, or the Church of England.

Decades ago in researching in-depth what the beliefs were of men exiting seminaries, Bible colleges, and theology schools in America it revealed that on average 6 out of 10 did not believe in the virgin birth, in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the miracles in the Bible, the raising of the dead, the healing of the sick, restoring sight to the blind, that Jesus is God Incarnate and was fully truly a man while also fully truly God, and that what may have applied when the Bible was written no longer applies.

This was all knowledge to be had decades ago to anyone willing to undertake the research.

I know a pastor, who’s in his middle seventies and has been a pastor for over 30 years, and he openly will say that when he attended seminary, well over 35 years ago, they rarely read the Bible, rarely studied the Bible. The Word of God was not their central theme. Debating and dissecting and the Word of God was. Outside sources. Theology discussions and debates. But not spending much time in reading, studying, and meditating on the Scriptures.

Imagine that.

Yet these receive their degrees, go out into the world to serve in churches and are given the responsibility of guiding, and shepherding flocks of professed believers, and the unbelieving who walk through the doors of the church where they are hired and paid.

And over the past number of decades, legions of wolves have entered in wearing sheep’s clothing.

Liars, deceivers, and ministers of Satan rather than of God. Preaching the doctrines of the world, not the Word of God.

For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

There’s little dispute that people, more and more, in the modern world are moving away from the biblical teachings on homosexuality (a sin), premarital sex (also a sin), and same-sex “marriages,” (yes, also a sin).

Now the United Kingdom-base Christian Concern has cited the recent Times poll results of responses from pastors which found 53% say the Church of England should allow priests to conduct same-sex “weddings,” 62% said the church should drop its opposition to premarital sex, and 64.5% said the church should abandon the biblical teachings that homosexual practice is “incompatible with Scripture.”

And 63.3% said priests should be allowed to enter same-sex civil partnerships.

The report said the poll approached 5,000 priests at random, and got back 1,436 responses.

“To survive and thrive the Church of England needs leadership that believes the Bible and puts it into practice. The Christian gospel has always offered a radically distinct, challenging and life-giving vision to society. Simply aping the current values of the culture around us is the road to extinction for the Church of England. Church leaders that have lost confidence in the Bible and the beauty of God’s ethical teaching should resign or be removed,” charged Andrea Williams, chief of Christian Concern.
