As I’ve mentioned in the past, I don’t come up with the article titles here unless it’s a standalone original piece I’ve written. There have been rare occasions when I add to an existing heading, but I don’t write the headings for articles or videos from other people.
Do not be dismayed at the heading here. It could easily fall under the category of clickbait, and unless a person watches the three-minute and thirty-second video, they might imagine the wrong things. Especially in times such as these.
I’m 73. Been a born again believer a while. Years. More than many, less than many others. It isn’t like being in the Scouts and acquiring badges, although most people I have encountered in my life treat it as such. Sad, isn’t it?
ACP will be in existence for 15 years in March. I’ve managed to read the Holy Bible in a year once in my life. That was the year that just passed. It felt unlike any other time reading God’s Word. There is pressure. And it becomes a task rather than what is intended when sitting down with God and hearing Him speak.
And that is what reading, studying, and spending time in the Holy Bible truly is. Sitting across from God, in this realm, and hearing Him speak to us in this dimension, this realm, before every word within the Word becomes fulfilled.
This year I’m listening more intently. Getting back to what I’ve done in the past. Reading slowly, methodically, joyfully, excitingly, being illuminated while trusting the Holy Spirit to lift me closer to the LORD and the spiritual wisdom, discernment I’m measured out to have. DAILY or NIGHTLY, or DAILY & NIGHTLY turning to, opening up, and listening to God speak to me.
Because until of that mindset, that spiritset what’s the point? Just so it can be said you read the Bible in a year? What do you recall? Besides the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus, or the flood, or some event or person you’re drawn to? Let’s go, grow further, deeper. Preparing ourselves. Honoring the LORD.
No pressure. Not a task. Not on the clock. Not a “Terms and Agreement” contract as mentioned below.
It’s sitting down with God! Take the time. Daily. Nightly. Slowly. Deeply.
The only way to truly know God’s will, which I’ve heard so many people desire, yet they do not go to God to hear Him, know Him, listen to and obey Him — the only way to know God’s will is to go to His Word daily. Always.
Tragically, too many ears are itching, being tickled, and the overwhelming majority professing neglect listening to God. Turning from God’s Word to other sources. There isn’t anything — anything — anyone has experienced, can experience, be going through, that is not covered somewhere in the Holy Bible. You are not the only person to ever go through what you are, and Almighty God knows this. It’s why He has included everything needed for every life within His Word. The living, active, infallible, unchangeable, inerrant, and eternal Word of God.
Don’t ever treat God and His Word lightly.
The Holy Bible is not just another book.
Want to know a truth? As this world hurtles towards its end, as it has been known and every word within God’s Word is fulfilled, the Holy Bible becomes MORE RELEVANT, not less relevant. To think, to believe, to speak otherwise is to recite what Satan is instilling, not what God is revealing.
But then, if in His Word daily, this would be known and understood.
I’m including the links to two things mentioned in the very short video below. Making it easy.
The plan mentioned in the video below:
The above IS laid out as a one-year plan, but upon listening to the video below, it is explained how to use that plan for individual reading that can and should take longer than a year.
I’m also including additional resources I found online:
BLB DBRP – 2Y – OT/NT Together
There is no justifiable excuse to not be within God’s Word daily. Praying to the Holy Spirit to guide you according to how He can best open, reveal, and implant God’s Word within you. Daily. Nightly. Eternally.
Please, do it. Don’t get into a cycle like it’s a job, just another task.
Your spirit, your soul, your heart, your mind, your body, and your life will greatly improve.
Watch on…

Why You Should Stop Trying to Read the Bible in a Year

From Alisa Childers Podcast
VERY SHORT THREE & A HALF MINUTE VIDEO
Let’s be honest: Is there any guilt quite like the guilt of falling behind on your Bible reading plan in mid-March?
We tend to treat Scripture like a “Terms and Conditions” agreement—we just want to scroll to the bottom, click “I Accept,” and say we got through it. But the Bible wasn’t written to be skimmed; it was written to be savored. If you are speed-reading through Leviticus just to check a box, you aren’t actually feeding your soul; you’re just winning a staring contest with a calendar.
In this episode, I’m giving you permission to throw out the “one-year” deadline. I’m sharing the specific advice I give to new Christians (and burnt-out older ones!) on how to build a biblical worldview without the burnout.
