So many words are possible to use regarding the state of Christianity in America. Pathetic is just one of them.
Only 20% of Americans believe the Holy Bible is the literal Word of God. To the remaining 80%. It is. It would be better to learn this now rather than later. But it’s even worse than that.
Biblical worldview is down to 4% of the people in America. It’s very clear that the American public education system utterly failed the people of the United States, since the overwhelming majority can’t even do some math, or possess a modicum of logic, ethics, critical thinking, reason and other important attributes, since in poll upon poll, survery after survey about 6 out of 10 Americans claim that they are “Christians,” yet only 4% of the population of America retain a Biblical worldview, while over 60% approve of homosexual “marriage,” 80% don’t believe the Holy Bible is the Word of God — literally, only 11% of the people in America regularly attending a “Christian church” have read the Holy Bible. All of it.
Pathetic.
That’s just my view. I’m a sinner. Still flesh. Still in the process of sanctification after being justified by my unwavering faith in the LORD Jesus Christ. Try to imagine how God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit view matters in America, as so many profess with their lips to know Them, love Them, belong to Them, while with their hearts they are so far away from Them — God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
The overwhelming majority of what is believed among those in America professing to be disciples of Jesus is rubbish. They don’t know what disciple means, what a disciple is. Because rubbish is what is being spoken from most pulpits, as there is now more unsound doctrine, different gospels than THE ONE in God’s inerrant, infallible, unchangeable, eternal, living and active Word, more wolves in sheep’s clothing, more false teachers and false teachings than ever in history.
“For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?”
1 Peter 4:17
The state of the Chruch in America is pathetic. We will be judged. We are being judged currently. Either receiving blessings for our faithfulness, perseverance, holding to the faith, living as light in all the darkness, or not receiving the blessings from God we could have had were we not a diseased body rejecting the Head. Reject, deny, remove, abandon, refute the Head, and all that remains is death.
Without contrition. Awareness. Humility. Repentance, there is no revival which is heard reverberating from sea to sea, where God controls and knows every molecule of every wave rhythmically rolling to shore, along with everything in the oceans — and every hair on every head, every thought in every heart and mind.
Heard but not seen. Not evidenced.
Oh, we’re amazing at using God’s name in vain — and I’m not referencing when individuals utter the name of Jesus as a curse word — at times to suit us for a situation, when we’re in a certain environment, and then we pack that performance away and get back to the true nature of the heart.
For examples of this, if confused or unaware, just watch and listen to politicians, professional athletes, celebrities, talking heads on TV, and many of the people in the church you attend.
Look, I’m not making this stuff up. The condition of the American church is pathetic. Diseased within. Like an individual dying of cancer, or a person with many ailments pretending all is well and actually getting better.
The grand and vainglorious delusion.
Living a pretend existence, a lie, in a very real world with eternal consequences.
It’s pathetic. Only that is an inadequate word to describe what is taking place daily in America regarding Christians, Christianity, and what passes for church.
What to do? Individual inventory. Brutal assessment, objective, no delusions, no excuses, no lies, individual repentance. So many vainly, ignorantly thinking they can somehow fool God, or negotiate with God, ignoring His unchangeable, eternal Word that is spot on, inerrant, and infallible.
Then, as we go, each one, from going through the motions, from being dim and hypocritical, we finally become the light we are to God according to His Word. We become salt, we live out our faith as true disciples of He Who gave everything for us on the cross, and by walking out of the tomb three days later.
When the LORD Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach, was crucified — among the top three most horrific ways to die, though when Jesus was on the cross it was THEE MOST HORRIFIC DEATH in world history, as God had come to earth in the flesh, for this very purpose. To die. To sacrifice Himself as the only acceptable sacrifice for sin — the most horrific, the most important, the most life-giving death in world history, the sky went dark, black, for three hours. There was a massive earthquake. To the feeble human eye, ears, and mind, this may be viewed only in a physical sense. When it all occurred only due to the spiritual nature of what was taking place.
Which was Jesus, that Individual part of the Triune God, sinless, eternal, on that cross, Who was forsaken by the Father and the Holy Spirit. As They can have no part of sin. And the world’s sky was filled with thick, palpable blackness, the earth shook, the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom all for one reason. Jesus had taken upon Himself for those three hours ALL THE SIN of every person who has heard His voice, repented of their sin, and humbled themselves, committing their lives to serve the LORD Jesus Christ, to follow Him, and obey Him. To take up our cross and faithfully follow Him and Him alone.
Yet, so few in America are actually living such lives. Believing. Living out such faith and obedience to the LORD.
Pathetic.
Let judgment and repentance begin with me, and not be mere words, but a cleansing of the heart, mind, spirit, and soul for the sake of my LORD, Friend, Savior, High Priest, and Judge.
Yes, Satan loves it, likely dances and is riotous with excitement when we twist the Scriptures, which he knows every word and could recite them accurately, were he not the foundation of evil, thus his ability to twist Scripture and know when we do.
Why can’t we, won’t we, dedicate ourselves to live in the Word of God, daily, nightly? Without fail. If God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and our profession of faith truly mean to us what we claim with our tongues?
To come to know, cherish, and love the Word of God and carry it within our hearts. Which only comes from time with, time in the Word of God. Faithfully. Always praying for discernment to be given by the Holy Spirit.
Doing it. Serve God truly above all else.
And all things would certainly come together in the individual life as a result. And in the nation.
Imagine that.
Possible? Certainly. Probable? Very unlikely. Not being pessimistic. Just seeing, hearing, and knowing — discerning human nature from experience upon being blessed to live almost 73 years [in January] on this corrupted world, and the time spent in the Word of God. That’s all. But isn’t that also so much?
Everything, in the end, really.
We are living Romans 1, when Isaiah 5:20 is the way it has become, the disorder of the day. Our reality. But then, these are the very last of the last days on earth, has this world has been known. The most interesting of times. Difficult to catch your breath and keep up with all that is occurring, isn’t it? As the birth pangs increase greatly in their intensity and frequency. The birthing of the biggest thing to happen in about 2,000 years imminent.
Imagine if there were a true awakening, a spiritual awareness of the One True God and His Son, Their Word igniting in individuals? It was evidenced to be the most real thing happening in the nation among the people. No hype. No exploitation and irrational ecstasy, which has been happening.
The evidence, the fruit, must be borne, and the sincere awareness lived out, sparking something with all that light and bold truth on fire for the LORD and the Word taking place.
Imagine that.

The devil loves it when you twist Scripture
By Jason Smedley
Reprinted from The Christian Post
Biblical literacy is at an all-time low in America, with only 20% of Americans claiming to believe the Bible is the literal Word of God. As if that weren’t bad enough, only 11% of churchgoers in the U.S. have read the scriptures from front to back — creating the perfect condition for false teaching to spread like wildfire.
Add to that the fact that many immoral preachers have crept into the Church, weaseling their way behind pulpits and teaching that anyone who believes the Bible too strongly has a “religious spirit.” I’ve seen people stand on stage, read 1 verse, then close their Bible and say, “There, now it’s legal” and go on to preach whatever they want without opening the Bible again — as if teaching from the Scripture is some kind of legalistic burden they have to carry in order to have a job as a public speaker.
In fact, most people who are fed a steady diet of modern preaching will end up having a negative view of what the Bible actually says about God. By selling a false version of God to the church, the devil is attempting to make us reject the true version when He appears. This isn’t a new strategy of his, he’s been twisting how humans perceive reality about God from the very beginning, going all the way back to the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 3:1 says: “Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”
Most of us have probably heard someone teach about how the enemy tries to get us to doubt God’s word, which he is obviously doing in the passage above; but if you look closer, he’s actually doing much more — he’s misquoting what God said in order to make Him seem unreasonably controlling in a way that isn’t true. Notice how he didn’t ask if God told them not to eat from the tree of knowledge, but he exaggerated the command and asked her if God had banned them from eating from all the trees in the garden.
By intentionally misquoting what God said, he tricked Eve into clarifying the command so that she would engage in conversation, giving him a chance to manipulate her into eating from the tree. So his first order of attack was to present a false version of God that seemed overbearing and harsh, and even though Eve explained that God had only told them not to eat from 1 tree, the mindset had already taken root and Eve became convinced that God was withholding something good from her; so she and Adam reached out and ate, subjecting the entire planet to the Devil’s rule.
He’s still using the same strategy today with messages like the prosperity gospel but in reverse: he’s presenting a God of toxic positivity that only blesses, has no wrath, and never brings judgment so that we reject any expression of Him that actually holds the world — and as a byproduct, the devil himself — accountable for their deeds. If the Church believes that God will never bring judgment to the earth, then the devil might be successful on the day when angels appear in the sky to judge the rebellious nations. The sad part of it all is that it looks like the Devil’s strategy is working.
With a generation of Christians whose knowledge of the Bible is less than an inch deep, who don’t even believe that all Scripture is true, we’re in greater danger than ever of the great apostasy that the Bible warned us about.
Can we hold back his plans a little bit longer to save as many as possible before the end comes? I have hope that it’s possible, but it has to start with a renewed commitment to teaching God’s Word with honesty and not twisting it. We need to approach the text with an awareness of its sacredness and have a holy fear of offending God with our sloppy homilies and inaccurate analysis.
Our God is an all-powerful King, whose heart burns with a fire of overwhelming love and passion for His children and a righteous vengeance towards all those who would seek to bring them harm. We can no longer present Him as some kind of jolly Santa Claus in the sky who only exists to give us gifts and whatever else we want. Preaching isn’t a creative exercise in ripping Bible verses out of their context and twisting them to fit into sermons that we think will attract more people into our churches.
The Church can no longer be a theater; it’s time to once again become a temple.
