All the lonely people, where do they all come from?
A love of the world. Alienation from God, from Jesus, Yeshua. Professing faith in Christ while they haven’t a clue regarding the Holy Spirit. Or the actual factual contents of God’s inerrant, infallible, unchangeable, eternal, living, and active Word. From having itching ears. From thinking it’s all about pleasure and happiness, as the world defines things.
What’s this all about, and why am I here now, as well as you?
I’ve heard, I hear, I’ve read, I read how people are bored. Don’t know what to do on the weekends when they aren’t tied to their jobs, on the hamster wheel, chasing other rats.
“There’s nothing on TV!”
“I’m bored!”
“What am I to do, I’m all alone!?”
This is from those professing to be disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
O, man, O, woman, you are without excuse!
Are you so filled with God’s Word, so equipped for times such as this, so aware, so knowledgeable, so keen, so…
…that you don’t need anything other than perhaps your one Sunday morning church service, with a questionable pastor and a questionable message that may not be nourishing with the meat needed, not even with whole milk if needed. Watered down, mild, bland, soft, unchallenging, appeasing, pleasing the ears, making those facing the front feel good with the words spoken, but going backwards or remaining stagnant.
Now I’m going to let you know what my lovely wife and I did this Friday night.
Which I’m sure many finding themselves here will think, or say, “Are you kidding!? HOW BORING! Get a life!”
We have one.
An eternal one. In our faith in Jesus Christ, the Risen from the grave Son of God.
We’re old. So we ate a light dinner.
We always watch House of Worship on Tuesdays and Fridays, when Marty and Jennifer Goetz present HOW, which is almost every Tuesday and Friday evening if their schedule permits.
HOW comes on @ 8:00 p.m., in our time zone.
We finished up our dinner, cleaned up, had a good conversation in the kitchen while cleaning up, made a pot of coffee, and had over an hour before HOW came on.
What to do?
Well, get on YouTube on our TV.
We found the latest Behold Israel with Amir Tsarfati, which is an hour and seven minutes in length.
Perfect. Let’s watch that. And we’ll still have time to go to the bathroom, get some more coffee, and be ready when Marty and House of Worship come on.
Which is what we did.
Excellent, edifying hour with Amir, who is a much better, meaty, in the times preacher than most pastors who have graduated from a seminary, with a master’s or Ph.D. degree! A wonderful CHRISTIAN message from a Messianic Jew! Oy Vey! Someone tell Amir he isn’t supposed to be so effective unless he attends a seminary! Oh, but then Peter, James [the Lord’s half-brother], John, Luke, Matthew, and the rest didn’t attend a seminary either; oh, they also were all Jews. ARE Jews in heaven with the Lord.
Imagine that.
Good fresh coffee steaming in the cup.
Been to the bathroom.
Time for House of Worship.

WOW! What a wonderful, blessed hour or so that is — EVERY TIME! Love Marty and Jennifer. Pray for Marty and Jennifer.
And people, those professing to be disciples of Jesus, would prefer to watch America’s Got Talent, or any other banal load of dung produced on American television, or have to be constantly busy? Go bowling? GOTTA DO SOMETHING! Because they can’t ponder, listen, watch, and learn, let the joy in? Be still and know Who is God?
Okay. Now it’s a little after 9:00.
How about another cup of coffee? Sure.
Oh, I see that Allie Beth Stuckey is with Frank Turek in the most recent CrossExamined. Let’s watch that and listen…
Edifying. Beneficial. In the fellowship of believers discussing righteous, holy, Scriptural matters in such a time as this.
Okay.
10:30.
Time to turn the fireplace off. Turn the lights off. Empty the dishwasher. Check that all the doors are secured and locked.
Go upstairs.
My lovely wife to bed, me here now…
…until I get this published, then I’m off to bed myself.
Here’s an idea.
Instead of working so hard looking for something to stimulate, excite, bring pleasure, take up time, DOING SOMETHING…
Instead of scrolling through 200-plus channels of crap and finding nothing but dung. Darkness. Distractions. Disaster of an evening?
Why not give the following a try?

Fill an evening with worship, the Word, praise, growth, in the Word, in the Spirit, in times such as these.
What does the world, anyone you know who isn’t a born anew in Christ believer, have to offer that the above can’t fulfill or satisfy?
Why so restless? Why needing constant movement, stimulation, what is perceived as excitement and interesting?
There is nothing more interesting than living a life on earth in the flesh in these times for, with, and by Jesus Christ.
Good night.
Oh, tell a friend. Tell a foe. Tell someone. It’s why we’re here. Really, it is.
Oh, and we do live a wonderful, blessed, fun, exciting, fulfilling, healthy, joyous life. Even in times of trouble, pain, suffering, and the daily things this world throws our way.
Jesus, God our Father, the Holy Spirit, FAITH in Them, the Word of God, BELIEF — make all the difference, my friends, all the difference from the ho hum, I’m bored, I need, I want, I must have! to contentment in Christ.
We’re heavenbound! Eventually. Are you? How then, can you be BORED!? In these, the most interesting historical times in world history?
You really think, or have time for the banal rubbish on American TV instead of being plugged in, active, aware, alive as a true believer in these times?
