Why are we here?

ACP — A Crooked Path Made Straight By the Word of God

We are made for God. God is not made for us.

Children ask continually. Philosophers through the ages have pondered and written about the matter. Almost every person throughout history I imagine at some point in their life asked aloud or silently, “Why are we here?”

Most likely not why “we,” but why “I” or “me” because almost everyone first and foremost thinks of self above all else. Let’s be honest. Direct, objective honesty may be a novel and new idea to many in this world, but let’s finally be honest and objective.

Because the first and greatest idol worshipped almost universally in this lost world peers back from a mirror.

For the professed believer in the Lord Jesus Christ? This is a great sin. On many levels.

For the unbeliever? It is eternal death and alienation from God unless the unbeliever recognizes his or her sin, confesses that sin, repents of that sin, and commits to make Jesus their Saviour and Lord of their life.

Please take this in the spirit it is written in. In kindness, in consideration, in quiet observation and consultation. In gentle reproof and admonishment. In hope. In prayer. In agape love as we are instructed to have and to hold onto.

We’re all sinners. Even the appearing most saintly, devout among us. Even the most gifted and blessed of preachers and servants of the Lord are still sinners. Still in this war of flesh versus spirit.

It ought to be so clear to those born anew, regenerated, and transformed into a new creature by the power of the Spirit of God through their faith, repentance, confessing of sin, and openly committing their lives to be servants, disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, but being flesh and with this world all around us and pushing in as it attempts to distract and pull us away from the straight path leading the narrow gate to the changes life we are to exhibit to others, being the light of the world so others do not honor us or even say wonderful things about us — but by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in us, by our walk, our talk, the lives we live according to our Bible-centered lives those who see us, no matter who, see the Father in us and GLORY Him.

The answer to everyone’s question who have asked “Why are we here?” or “Why am I here?” is TO GLORIFY GOD.

Period. That’s the first step. The only right step in the right direction in any life.

I believe every word in the Holy Bible. Every God-breathed word within the Scriptures for a God’s reason. Even the but’s, therefore’s, then’s and every word. None without purpose.

Many, most literal, but many also poetic, prophetic, illustrative, and historical. For our purpose to understand more clearly. The Holy Bible is the only book on earth — ever — to be 100% true and unbiased. For God is not biased and does not think as men and women do. His ways are not our ways. Also, the Holy Bible is the ONLY 100% accurate history book that presents past, present, and FUTURE history.

The world rejects this and prefers to listen to the seductive words of the devil as those are pleasing to individuals as they worship self rather than God their Creator, Jesus their Saviour and Lord if only they would believe, repent, and confess their sin to become His living daily disciple.

I believe Genesis literally. You may not, but I do. And even if you do not believe the beginning as established by the Word of God it is irrefutable that what God created, the heavens and the earth and everything therein and thereupon was GOOD. Not only good. Perfect. God along with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the Godhead together and as individual Person’s within the Triune God created all there is that is known. And this Creation was perfect. Greater and more perfect than any Utopia or Shangrlas conceived of man through the ages.

As such man and woman literally communed with God. God spoke to them and they spoke with God. Man and woman were created to not only tend to all that is on this earth created by God but to have a direct relationship with God. Fellowship directly with God. In perfection. In the Creation God made and man by his nature destroyed by preferring the lie over the truth and confusion and deception over clear reality and the truth.

Why are you here? Why am I here? Why has every person who has ever been born and is yet to be born here?

To glorify God.

Those three words are the whole purpose of man and of woman.

The words used in Scripture to glorify God mean on the one hand to shine. To demonstrate, manifest the divine in our lives. To shine with the Lord’s presence within us.

Additionally, to glorify God as in Scripture is to reflect. To reveal, to show forth by our walk, our talk, our everything we do we express a change in our character that character trait that of itself is not manifested. What is manifested within our character comes from God and changes us. From within. To be seen without. And this should in all things always by all of us who are His.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31 — English Standard Version

There is one theme to the whole of the Word of God — To glorify God and within that is to then know, believe upon, and live as a disciple of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The whole of the Word of God from Genesis 1 through Revelation 21 is — Glorify God in faith and obedience to God and His Son, Jesus, and live lives accordingly. As a light unto the world. As salt.

Salt and Light

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:13-16 — English Standard Version

With far too many of us adding another condiment, pepper to the table, to the mix, and that is of our doing. Being disobedient as Eve and Adam were from the beginning, and their natures are our natures. Sinful natures. Rebelling against God and the truth.

Self has no place in the glorifying of God. Our own desires, our egos, our way is not God’s way yet much of our time is spent going our own way while among the most sincere of us coming around on Sunday’s then imagining ourselves coming to praise and honor God while we only return to our own ways the majority of our time, our succeeding breaths, and beats of our hearts the Lord blesses us with.

When the whole purpose of EVERY man and EVERY woman EVER is…

To glorify God.

Glorifying God is mentioned over 275 times in the Bible. With the writing of the importance of glorifying God appearing over 50 times in the Psalms.

King David may not have understood completely, he may have only seen things through a glass darkly of what God’s prophets instructed him as God spoke the His prophets, but King David knew and wrote that the most important thing a man could do is glorify God and serve the Lord. King David was instructed by God’s prophets his kingdom would go on forever and One was coming greater than all from his lineage.

And David glorified the Lord. Continually. Even as he was rising and falling in sin. And David in all his being loved of God as he was, was a sinner. Plotting a murder so he could bed the man’s wife, who David saw and lusted after.

As history shows us, and we all ought to be deeply dedicated and devoted students of history — we can actually count in the Bible the number of people who lived to glorify God. And all of those stumbled, failed, fell at times. Every single one.

What has come before is not antiquated or out of fashion. It’s merely changed either by technology and advanced by human knowledge or else it is considered out of fashion, antiquated, and no longer applicable due to our gravitating to lies, to confusion, to the words and ways of the world rather than the Word of God.

There is no new thing under the sun. Except for more confusion, accelerating technology, and the lies and deceptions of men and women.

Let each of us daily live to increase with God and His Word, His ways, to try be that light of the world, the salt of the earth, seasoning our words and ways with the Word of God, the gospel which is Jesus Christ the Lord.

Let each of us uplift and comfort each other in Biblical agape love and understand that meaning, and take to heart the commandment given by the Lord Jesus Christ to love one another.

Let each of us then in our closer, purer, truer daily and nightly walk with the Lord, as God originally created it ought to be, as it was in the Garden, that we glorify God greater and greater as our faith increases, as we conform less and less to this world.

For the times dictate this.

We no longer can coast. Turn the cruise control on and imagine we’re on the proper course at the correct speed.

These days and time grow darker, eviler and more are falling away daily. More unsound teachings and teachers rise up. More and more rebel against Bible-centered, Bible-preaching churches, pastors, and elders. More and more are leading many astray with itching ears and turning to fables — lies.

Do not be among that number.

Be among that number that John could not count as Jesus revealed a bit of heaven in the future to John.

For those were the ones, are the ones who walked upright. Were the salt of the earth and the light of the world. And lived knowing the main purpose in our life is to glorify God.

If any are weak? Troubled? Wavering? Questioning? Enticed by the seductive words of the world? Confused?

Let each of us humble ourselves. Humble ourselves. God came to earth fully man and fully God and humbled Himself beyond any person’s ability to humble themselves, and if we profess to be a true disciple of His? If we proclaim and confess Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected? Then looking to Jesus, looking to Stephen (see The Acts of the Apostles), looking to the apostles, looking to example after example within the Holy Bible? We refuse to humble ourselves?

How does that reflection in the mirror look then? Idol worship? Or living to glorify God?

If each of us here reading this altered our ways, changed our ways due to our professed love, our gratitude, our thankfulness to God for having mercy upon sinners such as us? if we profess to live with the awareness of what Jesus did for us? If each of us changed our ways to increase one hour from our waking hours in the glorification of God imagine if you will not only how much more abundant our individual lives would be, but how the spiritual health of our families, our relationships, our work, our churches would become?

We focus upon too much of what the world shows us and pulls us into its gravitational pull. I present articles and pieces of current events and what is taking place in our nation and around the world to help show in one place the times in which we live. People ask for signs and instead of seeing them get swept up in politics, siding with this worldly thing or that. Nationalism, political parties, elections, the laws of man, the current events will all become vapor. Never to be remembered in eternity. I put them here on ACP for two reasons. One, I have attempted in the past to remove myself from adding these article, but subscribers and visitors have told me they come to this place to learn what’s going on as their pastors aren’t telling them these things, and it takes too long searching various media to find these things. Secondly, as mentioned above. To reveal the times in which we live. Which are Romans 1 and more.

No one knows the hour, the Day of the Lord — not even the Lord Jesus Christ knows the hour. Only the Father knows. But know this for certain — we are much closer to that Day than when the apostle Paul and the other apostles were preaching and increasing the Church. We are a lot closer to that Day than we were last year or yesterday. So we ought to acknowledge that in our every present moment and live accordingly.

None of us are beyond or above humbling ourselves even more so. Taking reproof when necessary. Taking admonishment if needed. Uplifting others. Being a community of believers of one mind, one accord praying and meditating upon the Word and being there for the weak, the strong, for all…

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

Revelation 4:11 — English Standard Version

With our purpose.

Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!

Psalm 115:1 — English Standard Version

Why we are here.

I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.

Psalm 86:12 — English Standard Version

To glorify God.
