Violence, Silencing, Covering-Up: God Is the Only Answer

When did we reach a point in America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, that her citizens would refrain from outwardly expressing their support of a political candidate out of fear of retaliation and even violence?

Think about this. If you, or others, are being silenced for fear of violence being initiated against you, why would you even consider voting for the party that encourages such behavior? Will a day come when the elites at the top are just as willing to organize and initiate violence against you?

Yet, this is the direction in which we have moved. A recent poll found nearly one-fifth (18%) of college students believe violence is an acceptable means of shutting down offensive free speech.

The survey was conducted by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, Real Clear Education, and College Pulse. It included 20,000 students from 55 colleges.

Students identifying as extremely liberal were twice as likely as extremely conservative students to say that employing violence to block a speech or event from happening on campus was “always” or “sometimes” acceptable (13% versus 6%). This may seem like a small number to some, but let’s consider an example:

Say a student expresses her views on the sanctity of life by taking part in a pro-life demonstration, or another wears a t-shirt or ball cap revealing his support for a conservative political candidate, or another reads the Bible publicly.

Of 100 fellow students passing by, 13 or more will find it completely acceptable to commit an act of violence against them.

That is unacceptable…and deeply concerning. Also concerning is that 6% on the opposite end of the spectrum hold the same view. Extremely conservative students think violence is ok? How did we get here?

In addition, over 60% of extreme liberals said it is “always” or “sometimes” acceptable to shout down a speaker, compared to 15% of extreme conservatives.

Freedom of speech and the right to peaceably assemble were of such great consequence to the founders of our great nation that these items were placed first on the agenda! Number one – the First Amendment to the Constitution. It’s right there with freedom of religious expression, press, and the right to petition the government.

Yet, here we are.

Violent riots continue to ravage our cities. And not one word of condemnation was uttered during the Democratic National Convention in August. They called them “peaceful protests.” That didn’t go over so well, so they later attempted to confuse the public by fabricating a new perception concerning the make-up of the rioters.

Still, the rage continues. And the robotic media sycophant and its social media cohorts continue to do their servile jobs – either chattering in one accord to twist the truth or burying the news altogether.

Can you imagine if one of President Trump’s sons were caught leaving behind a laptop riddled with evidence prompting an investigation by Senate Homeland Security – not to mention the other “compromising” emails and items?

Instead, what we have seen for days on the part of the mainstream media machine is crickets, nada, and complete silence. Then allegations of rightwing conspiracy theories began to surface, with no questions, no investigation, no interest in finding the truth at all. Yet, they offer no denial of the specific allegations. They just ignore it or claim it’s all one big, evil, and nonsensical plot!

Tucker Carlson of Fox News likened it to Communist China where the government controls the messages heard by the masses.

This swamp is abysmal and slimier than we can imagine.

There is only one way out of this abyss. God must help us. We must realize He is our only hope.

That is why Evangelist Franklin Graham is urging Christians to take part in a day of fasting and prayer Sunday, October 25. For more information, click here.

My husband and I recently attended the Washington Prayer March on September 26, and we were moved beyond words by the outpouring of worship, prayer, and repentance. It was amazing to see hundreds of thousands crying out in one accord.

He saw everyone there, and He saw countless others across our nation and world crying out in unison. He heard our prayers. His view is not limited to one screen or one city. He looks upon the whole earth!

The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him (2 Chronicles 16:9).

Let’s pray that He will find us faithful this Sunday and have mercy on us.
