“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”
Revelation 2:7

I would love to be able to travel to Israel and stand on the Mount of Olives. My wife and I would love to be able to do that, to travel to Israel and spend time there. We’re not at the level of financial ability to do that, though. It’s okay. We’ll make it one day.

I hear often, pastors, others speak of the many times they’ve been to Israel and “you really need to go.”

Nice for them. Happy for them. Just not possible for many who would like to go. It’s okay, though. We’ll make it there one day, and our stay will last a long, long time.

I had an amazing dream one night many years ago. I’m not good with dates, but it had to have been at least seven, eight years ago that I had this dream. I was on the Mount of Olives. Overlooking Jerusalem. I was bowing. I was actually on my knees, bent forward, my hands on the brown earth of the Mount of Olives, and there were sandaled feet and the bottom of a robe standing to my immediate right. All I could see when I turned my head was His feet, clad in sandals, and the bottom part of a robe. And I heard His voice, I knew that He Who was standing had spoken, but I do not remember the words spoken because within seconds of His speaking, the dream ended.

I so desired it to go on all that night and discover more.

But I’m thankful for the brief bit I had. I knew where I was — overlooking Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, it was in color [I dream in color], I remember I could feel the breeze, the sounds, it was so very real. For the brief moments it occurred inside my mind while I was sleeping. I also knew Who it was Who was standing in sandals and I was bowed next to…

And while my wife and I may not make it to Israel, physically, in this life, I’m glad so many are able to go there and experience it.

But, we know this — there is coming a time, a moment, wherein we will be transformed in the twinkling of an eye. Gathered to our LORD, Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach, and be with Him. To return with Him among the mighty group riding on horseback behind our King as He comes to defeat the Antichrist, his false prophet, and all the nations — ALL the nations [realize what the word “all” means?] who have turned against Israel and vainly imagined they could remove Israel and God’s people from the face of the earth.

It will be amazing. And so much better than a two-week trip in this life, or however long we could go in this life — because we will then be there during our LORD’S Millennial reign in Jerusalem on the throne of David. With all nations submitting to and coming to the LORD in praise and worship.

Then, even more incredible, we will be there, and in the New Jerusalem, that if familiar, and if not familiar, why haven’t you gotten your hands and eyes and spirit, and mind in the Word of God to learn about the New Jerusalem!? — to know, or learn what it will be like. We’re only told enough, only told what we need to know. I believe God our Father, our LORD Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit have only told us what They have in order to see our amazing reaction upon entering and seeing and BEING in the New Jerusalem.

Beyond our finite, very feeble, incomprehensible minds as to what the New Heaven, New Earth, and New Jerusalem will be like.

Think how our Triune God created the heavens and the earth, Perfection, Paradise, Eden — before we messed everything all up all these years.

Yes, we’ll get to Israel and Jerusalem one day. And then our stay will last a long, long, long,  ∞ … time.

Eternity is DEVOID OF THE KNOWLEDGE, THE AWARENESS OF TIME. There is no beginning, middle, or end to eternity, and no awareness of time. Every moment spent in eternity will be IN THAT MOMENT. No awareness of time.

The Mount Of Olives Is The Best Place To Stand To Get A Bird’s-Eye View Of Bible Prophecy

The Mount of Olives is the best place to stand in Israel to get a bird’s-eye view of Bible prophecy. Perched “on the mountain, which is on the east side of the city” (Ezek. 11:23), all of Jerusalem is visible—from the City of David to the Old City to the Temple Mount, which is separated from the Mount of Olives by the Kidron Valley.

Here Jesus taught His disciples about Jerusalem’s prophetic fate and His glorious Second Coming (Mt. 24—25), described by the prophet Zechariah: “In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley” (Zech. 14:4).

After riding down the Mount of Olives en route to Jerusalem on a donkey in fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9 (Mt. 21:1–11), Jesus later walked from the upper room in Jerusalem to the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount’s eastern slope. There He cried out to His Father in agony, “Not My will, but Yours, be done” (Lk. 22:42).

More than a month after His crucifixion, the disciples stood on the Mount with the resurrected, glorified Messiah and asked, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6). The question was timely, relevant, and suitable to where their feet were planted. The resurrected Lord had just spent 40 days with them, teaching them about the Kingdom. So, their thoughts probably ventured to Zechariah’s vision of the Messiah’s feet touching down on the Mount in the last days.

That day, they had front-row seats to the prophetic drama of God’s plan for the ages. But Jesus had work for them to do, though He never denied that Kingdom restoration will one day occur as the prophets foretold. Jesus gave His disciples the consequential task of being witnesses for Him throughout the world—the same task He has given us (v. 8).

Moments later, right before their eyes, the risen Lord ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father (Heb. 8:1). An angel then appeared and told the bewildered men, “This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11)—a promise of Messiah’s return to the Mount of Olives, when He will usher in an era of true shalom (peace).
