The Reformed Church in America General Synod discusses a plan to restructure the denomination in response to an ongoing debate over homosexuality and scripture interpretation in October of 2021. | Maria Orr
Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 — English Standard Version
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 — King James Version
We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:8-13 — English Standard Version
But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse. For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you. And I believe it in part, for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized.
1 Corinthians 11:17-19 — English Standard Version
A Tree and Its Fruit
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.”
Matthew 7:15-20 — English Standard Version
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,
1 Timothy 4:1 — English Standard Version
God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,g in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
Romans 1:18-32 — English Standard Version
Any of these ARE NOT Christians, dear ones. Let none of us be deceived and think what constitutes world love and tolerance is Christian love and obeying the Word of God. Woe to any so confused or lost!
If more people professing to be Christian were truly Christian the diseased and apostate state of the Church would not be where it is, and on a continual downward spiral due to the constant erosion and desiring to serve the world rather than obeying and serving God.
If more people professing to be Christian were truly in the Word of God, living the Word, believing the Word, OBEYING the Word we would not have these divisions. We would not have so-called “Christian churches” splitting over the sexual immoralities which are very easily found and clearly defined in the Word of God. There would be NO DEBATE if more who profess to be Christian actually knew, read, prayed over, studied, believed, and obeyed the inerrant infallible unchangeable living and active Word of God!
An ongoing debate over homosexuality and how that is interpreted in Scripture? Really? Are you kidding? How blind, how corrupted, how ensnared in the lies and mired in darkness are these so-called “Christians” that they cannot find and understand God’s CLEAR instruction pertaining to homosexuality, sexual immoralities, marriage, and what is to be obeyed!?
What regarding human sexuality and the immorality and perversion of homosexual/lesbian practices is open to interpretation in the Bible? Ask the Holy Spirit to remove the scales from your eyes and heart! Go get that Book with all the dust on it off the shelf and try reading it sometime rather than imagining what it says. Sin is sin. immorality is immorality. This being given over to unrighteous minds and following Relativistic doctrines rather than Scriptural doctrines only leads to the second death. Not eternal life with the Lord.
Woe to all who are double-minded. Who speak lies in saying they are Christian and they bear no fruit. Branches to be cut, severed from the Tree, and cast into the fire. Not my words or according to me, or what someone said or wrote — it’s in the Bible. Find it. Read it. Believe it. Obey it.
In truth, these in their perpetual debating and appeasing the ways of the world are in darkness and there is no light in them. They are in servitude to the world and not the Lord. If told they need to submit and obey most get a rigid back, their eyes intensify, their blood pressure rises and they proclaim they do not need to submit! Yet they are submissive, subservient, enslaved to the lies, doctrines, darkness, and death of this world vainly imagining themselves doing “the Lord’s work, it’s all about love, love, love is all you need!” [Yes, love as defined in the Bible, not in an old Beatles song, which is the kind of love, worldly love being followed. And it isn’t even love. That word is misused and just further lying].
If this were not so we would not be reading about, hearing, or debating placing homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, or transgender people in positions within the church. Allowing them to continue on in their sexual deviances, their sexual immoralities.
Far too many are casting aside the Word of God and vainly imagining they know better than God. That they can speak for God.
God speaks through His Word.
Available to all. Clear to know and understand by all.
Especially when it comes to sexual immoralities, male and female, and what is marriage.
What is permitted and what is not.
There is no gray area. It is all black and white.
It isn’t what a person wills or wants.
It’s what God wills and commands.
Believe, serve, bear fruit, obey or perish.
We’re all at war. And tragically more and more of weak and unsound doctrines, feeble beginnings, errant beginnings where the seed never fell on fertile ground are falling away and lading millions astray with them.
A person is either of the light, of God, of the Lord Jesus Christ, indwelt of the Holy Spirit, believing ALL of the Word of God — every word of the Word or…
…they are of the darkness. The lies and delusions of this corrupt and perverse fallen world. Satan’s domain for a season. There is more of Satan than God in more and more so-called “Christian churches” in these last of the last days!
Woe is U.S.
Woe is any who are kept in the darkness and the lies, given over to reprobate, wicked, unrighteous minds appeasing sin and evil while proclaiming they are His. Proclaiming they are children of God when in truth they are the worlds and children of disobedience.

Reformed Church in America creates task force to develop restructuring plan amid lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, and transgender debate

The Reformed Church in America, one of the oldest denominations in the United States, will create a team aimed at working on a possible restructuring plan for the denomination to end its debates related to lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, and transgender ordination and same-sex marriages as churches are expected to depart.
The RCA General Synod voted on Saturday afternoon to create the task force that will consider proposals to move the approximately 186,000-member denomination forward.
RCA spokeswoman Christina Tazelaar told The Christian Post that the proposal came because the denomination is “deeply divided around sexuality, interpretation of Scripture and governance.”
These issues led to the creation of the “Vision 2020 Team” in 2018, which performed “extensive research and discernment over the last three years.”
“That team recommended a restructure because it anticipates a significant departure of churches as a result of this division,” Tazelaar explained. “The team felt a restructure would help the denomination thrive in the future and be better poised to handle conflict differently.”
With the task force approved, the next step will involve the General Synod Council — the executive board for RCA — appointing members within the next couple of months.
Tazelaar told CP that the team will “be representative of the diversity in the RCA” and “will include several executive RCA staff members and representatives from around the RCA.”
Recommendations for restructuring the RCA are expected to be submitted and put to a vote by the General Synod in June of 2024.
Still, there is hope for the future of the denomination. Tazelaar provided CP with a quote from a report to the synod by RCA General Secretary Eddy Alemán given last Thursday.
“God is inviting us to create a new future for the Reformed Church in America; a future full of hope and great potential,” stated Alemán.
“A future focused on what’s really important. God is doing something new among us and is allowing this disruptive moment to do something new among us.”
In a report from July, the Vision 2020 Team recommended a “restructuring” of the RCA. At the time, the team said its members believed that the debate over sexual ethics was only the most recent example of a broader trend of division within the denomination.
“There have been numerous points, especially in the last 70 years, where the RCA has been at an impasse. Points of disagreement and tension have included differences of views on things like ecumenical partnerships, social justice/political involvement, merging with another denomination, communism, internal restructuring,” the report stated.
“This means we currently face something we have previously weathered, but it also means that we are likely to be here again if we do not find a way to handle conflict differently.”
The Vision 2020 Team recommended creating a new mission agency to house the denomination’s global missions work. The team also encouraged the RCA to create “a generous exit path for those churches which decide to leave and by inviting those churches to also act generously.”
“Given that we are entering a period when there will likely be more petitions being put forth than has been typical, we believe it is the right time to provide more guidance for this process so that generosity is prescribed rather than simply permitted,” explained the report.
While the newly approved restructuring team will consider the report from the Vision 2020 Team, it is not required to follow the report’s guidance.
