ACP — A Crooked Path

Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.

1 Corinthians 14:20 — New International Version

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 19-14 — English Standard Version

Prior to coming to know the love of the Lord Jesus Christ in my heart and spirit, before being renewed of mind and spirit by the power of the Spirit of God I had a different website. This was about 12, 13 years ago or so. I’m not as good with specific dates as my wife is. That website was 100% political. Until it began to change into a place that published current events and political information that also began writing of God, of Jesus, of what is contained in the Holy Bible relating to every event taking place.

That place started with zero folks dropping by and built up during its lifespan to having a lot of people come over to visit every single day. It became a popular place. I have always been interested in history, the foundations of America, and our founding documents and have always been keen on what is taking place not only in America but the constant thread of history around the world. Just how I was put together.

For a long time, everything within me was devoid of God, of Jesus, and the Holy Spirit certainly was not dwelling within me. I grew up in a very austere, legalistic church. A sect really. You would have had to actually experience it to understand it as my words are inadequate to paint the required picture. All that needs to be known is that I was darkness in the darkness [see Ephesians 5 for scriptural reference].

As the prior website moved from one hundred percent political and current events to the writing of how everything that was happening daily had the hand of God upon it, the words of the Bible were living and at work, all those who had come to that place regularly vanished. Like a sleight-of-hand magician making something disappear before an audience’s eyes and saying, “Whala!” as he looked down from the stage and smiled at the audience.

I had a person that lived in Philidelphia, a person I’d never met, but we emailed each other almost daily and had fantastic conversations for about a two-year period. She told me if I didn’t stop writing about God, about Jesus, and what is in the Bible she could no longer read what was on the website I was then operating and she was done with me.

She stopped visiting the place and she was done with me.

I did not stop, except to end that website and shortly thereafter start A Crooked Path.

Recently, I published a column here writing I didn’t know if ACP would carry on after August of this year when all the annual fees, renewal of certificates, and so on come into play. Along with other considerations in the decision to carry on or end things.

I had a lot going on externally and internally. Have a lot going on externally and internally daily, as do so many folks. While I have been advised in the past that people don’t want to know about my health, or something that occurs personally and it comes off like complaining or whining I include some of that information from time to time to explain. If it sounds like complaining or whining in your mind upon reading what is written know it never had that tenor or intent when I put fingers to the keyboard. I only have done so as a courtesy. It’s how I was raised. I realize that isn’t the way people are these days, courtesy, consideration, manners, and such have been tossed aside and it’s just hard edge in your face intensity today, dog eats dog, and stop wasting time with consideration, manners, courtesy, and such. If it isn’t brief, if it isn’t devoid of consideration and actually communicating, or too much for most people’s almost nil attention span they don’t want anything to do with anything.

Too bad. I won’t abandon consideration and courtesy another foundation of being human in a civil society that has eroded and now is almost extinct. The masses of people who act as if they were raised by wild animals, or raised themselves without the guidance of adult parents, then too many do raise themselves with only one parent in these times.

Hopefully, you saw and read the follow-up posting where I wrote ACP will carry on, Lord willing, I am given a new day after a new day to do so.

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

Philippians 3:20-21 — English Standard Version

Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God…

Hebrews 6:1 — English Standard Version

There are two vital reasons why I wrote this piece you’re reading now.

Priorities.

The first and most important is my life as a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, in knowing and growing closer to God, and always moving forward upstream in the river of spiritual maturity, growth, and wisdom.

There cannot be any stagnation. No lukewarmness. No thinking oneself comfortable and having arrived. No setting up camp and going no further. No sense that enough is known and done therefore nothing more needs to be known or being done.

Spiritual maturity increased spiritual wisdom, and knowledge in the Word, about God, and about Jesus is the most important activity and place to set one’s heart in this fleeting life. Especially in these times dear ones.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Romans 12:2 — King James Version

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1 Peter 1:13-16 — King James Version

I love Jesus. I love God my Father. I love the Holy Spirit. I love the Word of God.

Not mere feelings as the only understanding and definition the world ascribes to the word, but deep heart and soul love. Agape love. Thankful love. Serving love. Rejoicing love, Reverential love, Awestruck love.

until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Ephesians 4:13-16 — English Standard Version

Were it not for God and Jesus never abandoning me in this life, though I abandoned them, and worse, were it not for Their love for me in keeping me alive to finally cease being darkness, in darkness and pause to finally see, hear and come to know and believe in the Sacrificial Lamb, the fully truly God came to earth named Jesus, that was also fully truly Man. What He did, what God did for a piece of ______________ as me!

The reverence, the awe, the thankfulness cannot ever become idle or thought is enough. How much do I truly give to God, to prayer, to diving deeply into the life-giving waters of the Holy Bible to be refreshed and grow as I ought to rather than how the world views growth, knowledge, wisdom, and love!?

Never enough!

This place is going to change just as the previous website did. Only ACP isn’t going anywhere, Lord willing. This place is going to become more about the Lord, about God, about the Holy Spirit, about the Bible, and what that Book of books contains. I am led to do this. I need to do this. I am led to believe this is needed much more at this time than are myriad articles about culture, political maneuvering, and the current events of the world, which have dominated the space in this place.

About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

Hebrews 5:11-14 — English Standard Version

Some major remodeling and reconstruction are underway.

Some of those latter mentioned things will still appear here but less and less as more and more will appear about the Lord Jesus Christ, Him crucified and resurrected for eternal life to those who come to know and love the Son, believe upon Him, and commit their lives to make Jesus Lord of their lives as they are disciples of His walking alongside Him. Always towards the Father. With the Holy Spirit within to shed the light and instruction needed daily.

The second priority is my personal life. My health. My life with my wife. My physical well-being and health. Which I need to make radical changes in order to try and improve the daily quality of my physical life. I have multiple ever-present health matters to better attend to if I am at all-wise.

I am aware I will lose folks coming here. As administrator of this little place, I’m keenly aware the political in their nature items published here garner the most viewing.

So it goes. As will perhaps some subscribers, I hope not many, as well as perhaps many of the casual visitors.

I’m not taking a cavalier attitude here. Not a cold I don’t care attitude. Nothing lofty going on here as I am lowly and always need more of the Word, more of the Lord. I must make the Lord my priority in this place, as a pilgrim here, as a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Which means something. Which means everything. Everything eternally. Tragically it doesn’t mean enough to many.

But as I was radically, eternally changed in one night by the Supernatural power of the Holy Spirit this little place is changing to reflect that. Spiritual growth. Spiritual maturity is as required for us as air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat. I am going to breathe in the Word of God, drink it in, and eat of it feasting daily.

I pray the fruit of this will be evidenced here in my feeble way.

Relevant things that happen will also appear here, but always and only when also relating to Scripture as well.

I also pray this is seen as the right and proper steps moving upstream ever forward.

If I fail in this do not hesitate to let me know as comments are now working.

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 1:17-23 — English Standard Version

I cannot be led by people as to what to include in this space. I cannot be more concerned about the number of subscribers and viewers than about the quality of the content. I hope and pray you find this something to be glad about and encouraged by rather than being upset to read these words.

Thank you, longtime friends and subscribers, and thank you folks who occasionally drop by. Always welcome and I hope these changes will, in fact, bring you here for longer stays and when done here you reach for a Bible, a good concordance, enter into prayer and ingesting, delving deeply into the Word of God which reveals the will of God.

The times demand such of all of us.

Eternity for each individual requires such an action.
