What we should truly strive for is to be found pleasing and acceptable before God. To realize we’re only sojourners, pilgrims, strangers in ANY land on this earth where we may live. This is but a fleeting, temporal realm and we ought to have our minds, our hearts, our spirits, our focus more, so much more on God, on Jesus, on the word of God — and on spiritual and heavenly things than we do earthly things.

Yes, the United States of America is in dire times. A great darkness has come over this land and terrible persecutions and removing of foundations will continue and increase.

A bold, sincere, humbled strong hold by every person professing to be a Christian on the WHOLE, COMPLETE word of God should be the priority. Much more so than nationalism. This errant burning passion that if we can restore America as it was in the 1950s if only we can get this person, or these people in office all will become well!

Rubbish! Utter rubbish!

If we are to forsake the beaches, barbeques, fireworks, and the lot of what the 4th of July has come to and meant for so many people in America, and to fill the churches instead? As Mark Creech, a pastor writes in the article below? Instead of praying this isn’t our last Independence Day, we ought to confess our sins, repent, and turn back to the word of God if anyone wants this sick, this spiritually sick, and lost nation to find any restoration or preservation.

It isn’t about the border. It isn’t about elections.

It’s about how we think, treat, and allow or don’t allow, obey, or don’t obey God in our lives.

How so many profess they are Christian yet there is not one thread of living a Biblical life, having a Biblical worldview in the fabric of their lives.

We’re losing the Republic because we have turned from God. We’re disobedient. We’re rebellious. We’re mired in sin and corruption and perversity. And I’m only writing of those in professed Christian churches at this point. I haven’t even ventured into writing about those who openly deny God, deny Jesus, blaspheme, and are the minions, ministers, and the overwhelming majority serving Satan while they delude themselves they are in control, there is no God, it’s all and only about them. And what’s here right now they can see and hear in their blindness and deafness to any truth, any light in their lives.

An election? A wall? This or that said or done by a man or men is going to save things? Change things?

Has anyone ever paid attention!?

Really?

It’s about how we allow God or don’t allow God in our lives and how we obey the Lord’s word or we don’t. If we believe it or if we don’t. Or we say we believe and yet we live lying deceiving lives pretending to know and pretending to live Bible-based lives. We treat the word of God as if it were a restaurant menu. Going to, selecting only those few things that appear tasty and what we’ll like and we agree with as if we’re the final arbiters of the God-breathed will of God, His living word! Rather than us humbling ourselves, taking to heart EVERY WORD within the word from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 not adding, not subtracting a word. Not molding the word of God according to our wills, our personal heretical interpretations to make us feel good in this realm, this world, but to mold us by the hands of God through His word for the life to come, should we be blessed with eternal life in heaven.

Don’t believe this? Well, then, it’s certainly time you get your hands on a Bible and read many parts of it pertaining to this very reason as to why things happen, breakdown, bad times come, terrible times come to people — come to God’s people. It’s about disobedience. It’s about following and serving the world rather than following and serving God and Christ! It’s all in the Bible.

Too bad so many professing to be Christian haven’t a clue, are Bible illiterate, truly weak and errant in their grasp and discernment of Scripture due to a failure to make the word of God daily sustenance, daily food, and drink. Failing to ever take the time to truly read, truly study, truly come to know what is in God’s word.

Love God, love the Lord Jesus Christ, love the Holy Spirit, love the word of God, love being a pilgrim and a stranger, a peculiar person more than anything on or of this earth. And you know what? The things you love on this earth would improve. Because our vision, our priorities, our HEARTS and MINDS, and SPIRITS would be changed and turned to the Lord first!

Do not misunderstand or go to a place in your thinking that does not exist. I am grateful, thankful, and pray to the Lord daily in thanks I am in America, I was born in America, and America has been the nation it has been. Do not misunderstand. But we have lost our way. We have turned from God, an ever-increasing amount of churches and denominations have nothing in common with what is in the word of God. To call them “Christian” is to blaspheme the name of Christ! We are blind, foolish, following lies and what makes us feel good, wallowing in sin and allowing the darkness in where it is declared the Light has been found and the Way is known and seen, and it is the Truth and leading our Life! We lie that we lie according to the word of God. We live according to our wills, our words, the ways, and the dictates of this world. And this is why things have become as they have become. We refuse to confront and address sin and evil calling it sin and evil. We make excuses. We use euphemisms. We love the world more than we love God, love Jesus, love the Holy Spirit, or love the word of God.

Our actions speak much louder than any of our words or feigned gestures do.

And it is God’s will that will be done on this earth, as in heaven, and His Kingdom to come.

America could revive. It is possible. All things are possible. But it is the beliefs, the faith or lack of, the deeds, the ways people live, talk, act that determine the veracity or calmness in bringing about the end of the world. Which is coming. Jesus Christ the Lord is coming back to this earth one more time. And if you imagine acting a certain way to bring about the end of the world is justified? Is being Christian? Is doing God’s will be and being obedient to God’s will and word? You ought to seriously think again and truly need to spend more time, much more time in the word of God and in fervent, humble prayer!

Know that God is in control. Not us. It’s all about God. Know this continually every single day, every single waking moment, and as you lay your head down on a pillow at night. The things of God are much more important than ANY nation on earth and all that we have? All that we’ve been? All that we are? Has only been by the grace of God, the blessing of God, the will of God.

Not any election. Not a wall. Not a human law. Not because of a certain flag, Constitution, a nation on earth. It’s all and only about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and how each person believes, lives, speaks, acts, writes, what they allow or do not allow, who and what they obey or do not obey.

Period.

A little less, a lot less focus and energy expended on beach time, the barbeques, the amusement parks, the having fun shooting off or being enraptured in a fireworks display, and more time spent in the word of God — DEEPLY IN the world of God — in prayer, with humility and faith? And we would not despair or have anxiety with regard to — will there be another Independence Day, or could this be our last?

Our Republic: Can we keep it? So far, we’re losing it

The story has been told and retold. It’s been said that Benjamin Franklin had just walked outside of Independence Hall after the Constitutional Convention in 1787 when someone inquired, “Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?” Franklin is said to have responded: “A republic, if you can keep it.”

Historians say the quote actually doesn’t appear in Franklin’s writings, nor was it ever recorded as such in newspaper accounts of his day. According to the Washington Post, it first appeared in 1906 in the American Historical Review. “The Review was publishing for the first time the notes of James McHenry, a Maryland Delegate to the Constitutional Convention. The notes are both more and less specific than the legend,” claims the Post.

The story is intriguing, and I see no reason to doubt its historicity or render it as a legend. It also appears in numerous other works. What seems most important is the question believed to have been attributed to Franklin. It asks every generation of Americans: Can we keep this great Republic?

In a speech by Mark Steyn at Hillsdale College, Steyn laments, “Our increasingly unrecognizable civilization.” He mourns three essential things our Republic has lost: equality before the law, border control, and honest elections.

He notes how a policeman shot a young woman threatening the life of another woman with a knife. Unfortunately, the officer’s identity was released to the public for vilification. Yet another policeman shot an unarmed woman in the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, and his identity is protected.

America currently has no southern border, says Steyn, and no plan to get one.

Moreover, “dare I bring up the fact that it is a real question whether we can go back to agreeing to have open and honest elections,” he asks. “If we don’t have open and honest elections, control of our borders, and equality before the law, then we don’t have the conditions for politics or free government.”

Steyn speaks the truth; hard truth! But he didn’t stop there. He went on to talk about much more. He seemed especially concerned about “the escalation of so-called wokeness,” as he put it.

Here’s what he said about that issue:

“If you look at one of the most startling manifestations of this, transgender fanaticism – which involves, after all, the abolition of biological sex and, I’m sorry to have to say it, the physical mutilation of children – one notices that America is farther down this road than any other country in the Western world. In other words, at this moment of crisis for Western Civilization, or for what we used to call Christendom, the leading country of the free world is pulling the wrong way.

“Think of it. Your daughter has been training since she was a little girl to run in school sports. Now at 17, she’s in the state high school track championships, and you are forbidden even to notice that she’s competing against a woman who is 6’2 with thighs like tugboats, a great touch of five-o’clock shadow on her face, and the most muscular bosom you’ve ever seen. You’re not supposed to notice the craziness of this, and the craziness is at its craziest right here in America.

“We traditionally think of France as being a bit screwy, but today there are French intellectuals who regard themselves as hardcore leftists and yet who think America has gone bonkers on this transgender issue. President Macron himself has said that American wokeness is an existential threat to the French Republic, and he even found bureaucrats in France’s education bureaucracy who agreed. There is not a single bureaucrat in the Department of Education in Washington, D.C. who would agree, but there are apparently a few in Paris.”

Steyn adds that other countries further east in Europe: Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic fear the exportation of America’s foolish wokeness.

“But again, even most of our conservative leaders and institutions seem oblivious,” Steyn concludes.

He is absolutely right. Never have I read anyone who speaks with more clarity about the danger this nation is facing.

This year in the North Carolina General Assembly, lawmakers were unwilling to seriously take up the Save Women’s Sports Act, legislation that would have prohibited male students that attend public schools from participating in sports designated for females. The leadership wouldn’t even allow a vote on the bill in committee. But they are taking-up, and even voting on a measure for so-called medicinal marijuana—a proposal which, if it passes, will undoubtedly give our youth the impression there is something good about the harmful drug, and ultimately lead to the passage of recreational marijuana. Surely, that’s what we need to focus on—opening Pandora’s box for another ruinous legal intoxicant.

I think this kind of prioritizing by our leaders, this failure to discern between good and evil, what’s urgent and what isn’t, begs the question of whether we really can keep this Republic.

Perhaps what we ought to do this July 4 is to skip the barbecues, the beaches, that trip to our favorite vacation spot, and even the fireworks. America is in terrible trouble! Instead, we should fill our churches to pray this isn’t our last Independence Day.

We should strive, with everything we have, to never to lose this Republic.
