Dear _____________,
What if I told you that tens of millions of Americans who currently reject God are actually open to believing in Him—under the right conditions? Would you be surprised to learn that many of them are even sitting in our churches?
What can be done to help doubters find their way to God?
My latest American Worldview Inventory 2025 report, “Millions Admit They Could Be Persuaded That God Exists—Under the Right Conditions,” reveals both a troubling reality and a powerful opportunity. While 6 out of 10 adults claim the God of the Bible does not exist, one-third of those doubters say they would be “completely open” to changing their mind—if a trusted person offered a credible and persuasive explanation. Another 38% say they “might be open.”
That’s more than 50 million Americans who are spiritually restless and open to God—and who are waiting for someone willing to engage.
Shockingly, my research shows that 40% of those who reject God still call themselves Christians. Many even claim their salvation is fully dependent upon Jesus Christ. Others are reading the Bible, attending church, or battling anxiety and addiction—yet still deny the very God who longs to transform their lives.
Digging deeper, the research uncovered that 53% of those who now deny all supernatural powers—including God—once believed. The majority of them (62%) made the decision to reject spiritual authority before age 22. This highlights the urgency of early spiritual formation and the lasting impact of childhood worldview development.
Equally important is what doesn’t cause disbelief. Only a small fraction of doubters attributed their rejection of God to outside influences such as social media (5%), college professors (5%), or entertainment (4%). Instead, most point to personal experiences or internal reflections. That means healing, hope, and honest conversations may be more powerful in bringing doubters back to God.
The most effective catalyst for belief isn’t institutional—it’s relational.
My research confirms that person-to-person conversations and faithful modeling of God’s character and life principles are the most powerful tools for restoring belief. These personal, trust-based connections open doors that sermons and systems alone often cannot.
Thank you for standing with us as we uncover truth and equip believers to bring light into the lives of those who doubt. I encourage you to read the full report (linked below), share it with your church or small group, and pray about how God might use you to walk alongside someone searching for renewed faith.
Blessings,
