Reads like something from a Carnac routine, doesn’t it?

“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

Jesus Christ — Yeshua Hamashiach, John 7:24

Old enough to recall the character Carnac that Johnny Carson pulled out on occasion, on the old Tonight Show, when real comedy still existed in America? If you do remember, you’re old. If not, look up a clip on YouTube.

This isn’t about any of that.

This is about King Saul, President Trump, social media, and times such as these. And people. How we really are, not how we imagine ourselves.

Oh, and this: Why bother with the Old Testament.

How did the idea for this ever come about? Well, early on Sunday morning, I was doing some of my daily Scripture reading in the book of Samuel, I read numerous news articles, and in the mix, I received an email that someone had posted on a Facebook page that I follow. I follow very few.

Now, I’m not a social media person. I am only on Facebook because of A Crooked Path. Same with being on X.

I get on Facebook about once a month to clear out notifications. And only click on a page of someone or something I’m following, and I’ve received an email that someone has posted a comment, and do I want to view it? Most of those I just delete and don’t proceed. Other times, I’m led to see what is posted.

There are no coincidences, and the LORD works in small, quiet ways most often to individuals, I believe. If we’re paying attention.

Familiar with Saul, who became Israel’s first king? Saul was the tallest Israelite there was at the time. And the most handsome. He began humble. He began acknowledging that God was working in his life, God had plans for him. Scripture acknowledges all these details for us. Discover, or rediscover Saul in the Book of Samuel, which should be one book, as it is one book, but for some reason it has been divided into two.

Familiar with how events unfolded in King Saul’s life and how things transitioned? How he was once richly and greatly blessed by God, he turned from God, and those rich blessings and life were removed from him.

King Saul’s history, biography, and life told to us is not merely a story. Some ancient tale. It is clear, easy to understand, enthralling, riveting history of a man who God richly blessed and made king, and how he then turned and his great fall.

Made king because the wicked, lost, people desiring to be like every other nation demanded of Samuel that they, too, have a king. Samuel was likely one of the very first, perhaps the first person to say in effect, “Be careful what you ask for,” as he explained clearly to the people what having a king would mean. The people didn’t care to hear the truth, that they were wicked and had a King in God, which they had no interest in. The people wanted what others had, and they demanded it. Ignoring the warnings of Samuel. Samuel did this as a prophet of God. That means he was 100% spot on, never failing, never in error, never proclaiming something that did not happen. God was directly working and speaking to the prophet Samuel. Unlike today, where far too many people either make predictions and are perceived to be prophets, or weak people decide to think and treat people they admire, listen to, voted for, follow on social media as prophets, even as their god though they will not be so bold and honest to acknowledge they do this very thing.

Okay, let’s move forward to social media, shall we, and what was the trigger pulled that brought this piece to reality.

Okay, I read, I read some more, I then read some comments from a group of folks on a Facebook page I follow. I’m not trying to maintain an air of mystery, I just don’t want to name the page because I love the dear, sweet, wonderful, God-fearing people who began it during COVID and maintain it on a weekly basis. It’s a beautiful, glorious, faithful, Bible-believing, Jesus-Yeshua serving thing they do. How’s that?

Beautiful souls loving the LORD, and it shows each week in what they do.

Okay, there is a lot going on recently with President Trump and his pending trip to the Middle East, wherein he and his administration have made it very clear they will all bypass Israel on this trip. They’ll all be right next door, but refusing to visit Mr. Netanyahu and Israeli leaders. What a waste of jet fuel, eh? But then, that big $400,000,000 jet given for future favors to Islam, I mean gifted jet from some of the main supporters and one of the main financiers of Islamic terrorism in the world, from one of the evilest nations on earth, Qatar, probably comes with one year free jet fuel, I imagine.

New ad campaign to follow… Fly Bribery Air will be replacing the Fly Qatar Air…they had originally been pitched “We bought an American president with a fancy airplane,” but thought it a bit long even though it would finally be truth in advertising…

What did President Trump do when asked by a reporter if the jet was a bribe? He berated and mocked her. Discredited her.

Prior to acknowledging the bribery jet, when news of it was released by various news outlets, it was deemed FAKE NEWS.

Well, how about instead of the blind faith in President Trump and a political party, a person — how about being objective, watchful, and waiting for the truth to be revealed. As it always will be. Eventually. Even though you might not like it one bit.

And you’d think, with a brand new big jet fueled up, you’d want to go visit a friend in the neighborhood, wouldn’t you?  I mean, if such good friends with Mr. Netanyahu and Israel, and in the neighborhood, wouldn’t you stop by for a friendly visit?

It can cause one to begin to wonder what’s going on.

Contrary to what people want to believe is going on.

Okay, on this Facebook page I received an email notifying me there were comments made I might want to read, when I clicked and was taken to the page I found a thread from a gaggle of women all commenting regarding something that was said by the wife on the weekly YouTube, Instagram and social media platform broadcast from Friday. Thinking that they needed to explain what was said, and in the thread were comments about how President Trump would never, Mike Huckabee will never let President Trump, and blah, blah, blah, as if they all were West Wing insiders and knew what is actually going on.

Okay, here’s the thing — I saw the broadcast, as my wife and I watch weekly, and have for a long time. The woman was clear in her words, and there was no need for a gaggle of women to get online and think they needed to clarify what the wife said. If it was misunderstood, that’s on the hearer. Not the person who spoke the words. Not when the words spoken were clear, concise, and easily understood. With no explanation needed by a group of women on a social media thread.

But these are the times in which we live, aren’t they? All this so-called greatest, mostest, bestest, amazinest communication. While the reality is that communication and understanding by people — logic, objectivity, critical thinking, rational thought, listening, discerning, and knowing how to truly communicate are at all-time lows. More misunderstanding than understanding going on. Everywhere. More tension, anxiety, fear, thin-skinned people, and taking offense than I can ever recall in my 72-plus years of life.

Such are times as these.

It all ties in, for the woman on the broadcast mentioned something about President Trump and Israel, and what has been in the news from various outlets, that President Trump appears to be turning from his earlier position regarding Israel. And she was hoping this was all just fake news, and she prayed for wisdom for President Trump.

There were a group of women commenting on the Facebook page established for this weekly wonderful blessing this married couple do out of the kindness of their hearts as if all these women had access to the Oval Office, to President Trump, the cabinet, and knew the hearts of everyone in the Trump administration, and horrible things could never come from it!

Seriously? Was there any pondering, contemplation, or real thought behind their statements? As if Mike Huckabee knows everything President Trump is thinking, planning, and about to do. Do you think he does? I do not. He’s an ambassador across a mighty ocean. Not inside President Trump’s head or sitting on his shoulder whispering in his ear, the one that got shot, and now President Trump claims he is doing God’s work after God spared his life — which God did — for God’s reasons, according to God’s plans.

Why is it that people of faith in God only want to think those plans involve sugar, spice, and everything nice? Or worse, they believe there is an Old Testament God and a New Testament God in their ignorance, forfeiting from their hearts and minds that God is Immutable.

The times are not going to get better. Not if a person is truly born from above, aware of what is in God’s Word, and they are even modestly aware, paying attention and observant.

Placing faith in any politician is foolishness. Dead wrong. By any person, let alone a true child of God, a born from above individual saved by the free gift of grace from God — for faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach. Who is the only Person we should put faith in. Period.

Not making this our home. We’re strangers here. Sojourners. America is not Israel. America will not go on. Just the facts. According to the Holy Bible.

King Saul started out great. He turned from God. To his own ways. His EGO, his PRIDE, his using God’s name in his blatant disobedience did not end well for Saul.

King Donald, I mean, President Donald Trump is not a man to place faith in. Beware of being naive and gullible, as he, or no one in his administration, has shown any real knowledge of Islam or the Middle East, and reveals a total lack of awareness and understanding of God’s Word.

Lastly, social media is a blight, a stain, a vehicle for nonsense unless possessing sense, rational thought, critical thinking, objectivity, and the ability to discern well and rightly. And that is only possible not of ourselves, but of being indwelt of the Holy Spirit and allowing the Holy Spirit to work within us. No matter where that leads us. As He will only lead us to what is true. Whether we like it or not.

Do not act shocked, surprised, or taken aback when news comes out of the Middle East, of news sources of events taking place by President Trump, you never imagined him doing. Do not gasp or act shocked by anything that the Trump administration does regarding Hamas, Gaza, establishing a Palestinian state, or shunning Israel. All nations turn from God’s people, God’s land, and God’s city Jerusalem.

It is the times in which we live. The last of the last Biblical times on earth.

Pray God’s will be done on this earth as in heaven, and be prepared for that will — because it might not be anywhere close to your will being done, or even King Donald’s, I mean President Trump’s.

Very tragic, sad events are taking place. Do not let them cause fear. May they draw you closer to the bosom, the heart of the LORD.
