For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
Romans 7:15-20
I would love to be perfect, without sin, to no longer do some things I know I do not want to do yet do them. It’s called sanctification after justification after being born again by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Sanctification is a PROCESS. Not something completed when it is begun. A process. Every single day in the life of a believer.
We are only perfected, no longer doing those things we hate and not doing those things we know we ought to be doing when we are no longer in our fleshly bodies which are fallen, corrupted by sin.
Yes, we’re all hypocrites. As Frank Turek says, “You’re right!”
Who among us is without sin, who among us lives up to the standards we set for ourselves let alone the standards of God? Which for believers is to be faithful disciples of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and to keep from allowing the world to interfere with our walk in Christ. Trusting in the Lord in all things. In this we falter, and fail at times — at least numerous times every day as we attempt to do things for ourselves, our way, even the world’s way at times — and when we are truly saved, truly His, we know this and we humble ourselves and go to the Lord for our strength and direction.
No Christ follower is perfect nor will they be until removed from this fleshly realm and found in the spiritual realm of heaven with the Lord. Then, and only then will the process of sanctification be completed and we will be like Him. Like Jesus.
There’s a book that clearly explains this so that a child can understand it. More folks ought to pick it up, open it, ask for help and guidance in reading it, meditate on what is read ponder it, and then put it into practice [until we get sidetracked by daily life and can be hypocritical at times — we’re not perfect, not yet], and believing and living daily to implement what is read.
Failing, faltering, and falling at times along the way.
Always getting back up, eyes, heart, mind, spirit, soul, and life on Jesus.
It’s what us Christ following Christ believing Bible believing hypocritical at times people do…
Oh, the video below with Frank Turek is very short. And very good.
