“And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”

Matthew 24:22 — King James Version

I realize that the Lord Jesus Christ speaking to His 12 disciples on the Mount of Olives, after leaving the temple was telling them of the coming last days, the Great Tribulation, and certain events that would take place prior to His Second Return, and what the Lord said to His disciples then, and to us, as His disciples now is not related to the information below how the earth is spinning faster than usual and has been for a number of decades since man has had the ability to record such things.

Unrelated yet ironic. Wouldn’t you say? Something to make us ponder deeper and spend more time in prayer, in the Word, in going to God and trusting in the Lord? Seeking Divine wisdom and understanding in these times, these last of the last days in which we all live.

Other translations of Matthew 24:22, clearly reveal the Lord was speaking of the swiftly coming Great Tribulation and how if God does not cut those terrible days short…“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be” [Matthew 24:21] the likes of which the world had never witnessed and never would again due to the horror of them every living thing would be lost.

“And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.”

Matthew 24:22 — English Standard Version

“And if those days [of tribulation] had not been cut short, no human life would be saved; but for the sake of the elect (God’s chosen ones) those days will be shortened.”

Amplified Bible

“If those days are not cut short no one would live, but because of the chosen ones, those days will be cut short.”

Read all of Matthew 24

The physical earth, a living creation of God, is going through many changes. Many signs and wonders before us. Tragically, foolish men and women make it about politics, agendas they are drawn to and adhere to like fusing metal in the welding process. Be they of what is called liberal or conservative cloth. Both in error in making it carnal, of the world, of man’s philosophies and teachings rather than the teaching of God and His Word.

Just look to the foolishness, the stupidity, and it is stupidity in being so short-sighted, so stiff-necked, and unyielding as the contentious sides in the endless word war waged regarding climate change. The deniers and those lost think they can do things, material things, physical things, to “save the earth!” But the deniers as well as those believing it is all about them and their power and ability are both in error.

The earth’s climates are changing. Whether refusing to believe this or thinking it is the most pressing issue and somehow if we cease how everything operates on this planet we can somehow “save the earth!”

Foolishness, utter blindness, arrogance, and stupidity on both sides of this. Too blind and bonded to their errant beliefs as metals bonded under intense heat to see.

While the earth’s climates may be altered by our waste, our consumption, and how we have come to live in the world in these current days the earth’s climates are being altered evermore and greater by the increased sin and evil of man. The turning from God and His Word and ways. Universal worldwide men and women in earthly carnal pursuits rather than the pursuit of God. The heathen, the pagan, as well as the ones professing to be Christian yet living as if they have never opened and read or understood what is contained in the Holy Bible, the inerrant and infallible Word of God.

So consumed and swept up and away in the political, the worldly as to be removed from the truth. Not just seeing through a glass dimly but spray painting over the glass with the toxins in their souls revealing their love of the world more than their love of God, their love of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of the Holy Spirit that makes life in Christ possible yet is never mentioned by them. Imagine that.

Creation, all of creation, the whole living earth has been groaning since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, the whole of God’s Creation writhing, groaning under the duress of man and woman’s sin. And yet it is this sinful and inherently evil in our hearts men and women who vainly, foolishly believe they have the power to “save the earth!” while others, those believing themselves holy, righteous, and such engage in their foolish, banal, inane and worldly contests of verbal folly rather than turning to the Lord.

Imagine that. Aren’t we so wise and advanced these days? So much different than any of the people of the past!?

NOT!

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.

Romans 8:18-22 — English Standard Version

Interesting, very, very interesting…

Okay, now continue on to read how the earth has sped up by a wee bit more than a millisecond and since the 1970s a couple of handfuls of seconds and what to do, oh what to do about it all!?

I find the Word of God a lot more interesting than anything regarding space, science, what man thinks is so important, what the banal and inane banter about endlessly, foolishly, politically, and worldly that holds their time and keeps their attention — away from God, away from Christ, away from the Holy Spirit, away from the Word of God which are the words of life and true understanding and enlightenment!

I would strongly urge one and all here now after reading this to remove themselves and to immerse themselves deeply into the Word of God rather than the feeble, fleeting words of men and women…for the words of God in His Word are eternal. No contention. No politics. No conjecture. Not tainted by the sin of man. Oh, the ongoing story of the inherent sin of man and man’s need for salvation, for redemption, and the only source of that —- the Lord Jesus Christ. The Scriptures are just the pure words of truth and life. Everlasting life to those who understand, believe, and obey…and the days are growing shorter, really, and all of creation is groaning under the weight of man’s sin much more than it is the internal combustion engine or plastic straws. I wouldn’t waste any further time since none of us knows how much we may have remaining.

Earth Is Spinning Faster Than Usual, Giving Us the Shortest Day EVER Recorded

  • On June 29, Earth experienced its shortest-ever day—1.59 milliseconds less than 24 hours.
  • The apparent speed-up of Earth’s rotation could be attributed to the “Chandler Wobble.”
  • This minuscule change in time could introduce the need for a negative leap second.

If it seems like the world is moving fast, know that it truly is.

On June 29, the National Physical Laboratory in England recorded the shortest day in history: 1.59 milliseconds less than 24 hours. And Earth’s quick-spinning day earlier this summer isn’t a one-off fluke, either.

Using data from the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Servicetimeanddate.com says 2020 boasted 28 of the world’s shortest days on record since the introduction of the atomic clock in the 1960s made the measurement more scientifically accurate. Earth’s hastened rotation has continued to speed up compared to the average in 2021, leading to 2022’s record for the shortest-ever day recorded. (July 26 nearly eclipsed the record, too.)

If Earth’s rotational speed trend continues, scientists may want to introduce a negative leap second, which could help compensate for the shorter days we experience as a result. But that could lead to technological issues, according to a July 25 Meta post.

“The impact of a negative leap second has never been tested on a large scale; it could have a devastating effect on the software relying on timers or schedulers,” Meta engineers Oleg Obleukhov and Ahmad Byagowi note in the post. “In any case, every leap second is a major source of pain for people who manage hardware infrastructures.”

But what’s with Earth’s quick-moving spin in the first place? Some blame the “Chandler Wobble.” First discovered in the late 1800s, the concept basically states Earth’s spin on its axis isn’t exacting. There’s a natural wobble in the measurement, whether because the Earth isn’t perfectly spherical, because tides change, because winds move water, or even the fact that earthquakes cause blips. Others blame the constant melting and refreezing of ice caps and other climate change factors. Scientists simply aren’t sure.

Whatever the exact reason for the Chandler Wobble (discovered by American astronomer Seth Carlo Chandler, hence the name), it only really impacts astronomers and pinpoint Global Positioning System navigation.

But to keep time marching on, a long-term slowdown of Earth’s spin decades ago led to the introduction of the leap second in 1972. Since then, 27 leap seconds have been added to keep the Coordinated Universal Time updated. But if Earth’s rotation really is speeding up, not only does that make the addition of a leap second obsolete, but poses the potential for a negative leap second to keep Earth’s dance in step with time.

That’s why Meta wants to abolish the positive leap second and avoid both it and any discussion of a negative leap second.

“The leap second and the offset it creates cause issues all over the industry,” the engineers write. “Leap second events have caused issues across the industry and continue to present many risks. As an industry, we bump into problems whenever a leap second is introduced. And because it’s such a rare event, it devastates the community every time it happens. With a growing demand for clock precision across all industries, the leap second is now causing more damage than good, resulting in disturbances and outages.”

While engineers clamor for the abolition of the leap second, period, scientists are still trying to figure out just why Earth’s rotational speed is changing. Of course, Earth could slow back to a more average speed and the worry subsides. Or, in a more extreme scenario, the world begins spinning even more quickly.
