On Sunday, a Lutheran church in New Jersey celebrated the female-to-male transition of a pastor with a renaming ceremony.

Transgender Pastor Rose Beeson of St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoboken was called “Peter” by Lutheran Bishop Tracie Bartholomew to mark the pastor’s gender transition.

“I feel embraced by a cloud of saints,” Beeson told ABC 7.

The church has been overwhelmingly supportive of the transition, says the 31-year-old.

Twenty-one-year-old congregant Mark Singleton said the renaming ceremony was “a wonderful day in the life of this radically inclusive community,” according to NJ.com.

“It’s an opportunity for us to live out our mission to accept everyone, not just talk the talk,” said another congregant, Jen Meusel, 20.

Bishop Bartholomew has been equally supportive of the transition.

“I support Pastor Beeson coming to the realization of who he really is,” she said.

Beeson came out as transgender last summer, which she said was “even more important” due to the recent election of President Donald Trump.

“Both I and this congregation thought it was even more important because of that; to be a bold voice that says, Christians also believe transgender people are good and created in the image of God,” said the pastor.

The name Peter was a purposeful choice for Beeson, telling ABC 7 Biblical, “Peter’s persistence resonated.”

“I am grateful to be in a congregation in part to be a bold witness to God’s mercy and grace,” said Beeson.

About the Author:

All anyone finding this place needs to know about me can be found on these over 400 pages of well over 5,000 posts since March of 2011. Here anyone visiting can find what they need to know as to what I believe and what my priorities are in this life. This place is not about me. Nothing should be about me, or self. The whole point of being a true disciple of Jesus Christ the Lord, of "getting it" and thus attempting to "live it" is to replace self with selflessness --- as was our Lord's constant example brought to fruition by His selflessly going to the cross, being nailed upon it, tortured, mocked and killed taking on the unimaginable pain and suffering of for a time feeling the magnitude of every sin of every sinner from the moments before His death up to the last sin committed of the last person saved before His return. Do you ever ponder and meditate on that fact? I do. That's what you need to know about me. Then, as promised, as was prophesied, as God said and Jesus said, the Lord was resurrected from earthly, fleshly death to conquer death and fulfill the promise of eternal life. All you need to know about me is found on these myriad pages and posts. What is more important and should have time spent on is what do you know about God? What do you know about Jesus? What do you know about the Life, the Truth, the Way, the Light contained in the Holy Scriptures? And...what will you do about all that while God Almighty and merciful is the One making your next breath...your next heartbeat possible. You are not making such possible. Satan surely isn't. Only God and Jesus give Life. Only Jesus is the way to salvation, eternal life, and the Way to the Father. Only Jesus is what each of us needs focus on more and less, oh so much less on self dear ones...
