Christ is not a product, good, service or wonder drug

Jesus Christ the Lord, Son of God, is NOT a product, good, service or wonder drug and should NOT be treated as one. That sentence seems obvious enough to some but not to most who profess being ‘Christian,’ including an ever growing number of professed evangelicals and evangelical pastors, ministers and preachers. In today’s Christianity far too many are under the erroneous impression that all one needs to do is ‘accept Christ,’ profess you ‘believe in Jesus,’ and then everything in life will suddenly go right, everything will be fine and dandy and you’ve punched your ticket on the train to heaven. Accepting Jesus is like taking a pill to alter ones perception and reality. No bumps, hills and valley’s or tests along the way. No suffering. No problem.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The true Christian life is a BATTLE. We are engaged in a constant spiritual war. When an individual truly knows, accepts, follows and diligently gives their life here on earth to Jesus Christ and God the Father that is when things get REAL. Being a Christian, a true believer, a true disciple of Jesus Christ takes daily diligent effort in the spiritual war which goes on 24/7/365 all around us. And it does not take leap year off either. It takes diligent daily prayer and Bible study. It takes seeking and asking for increased faith, increased spiritual discernment and wisdom to be measured out to us. It is this daily battle and overcoming which makes the Christian life rewarding.

And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

2 Timothy 2:26

Formally we were taken captive by Satan. We were in truth enslaved to the devil and serving him. We were of this world and walking in darkness. Not saved. Destined for eternal damnation. But in the renewing of our mind and spirit and becoming one of His and having Christ dwell in us and we live our lives as disciples of His we live this way, or should;

The Full Armor of God

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Ephesians 6:10-17

Does the above make it sound as if accepting Christ and considering oneself a Christian is passive? Means going to a church on Sunday mornings where the pastor is more concerned with making you ‘feel good’ and ‘accepted’ refusing to preach on sin? Never any instruction on suffering, sacrifice, being separate from the world? Incorporates psychology, jokes, illustration after illustration and concerns themselves more with being entertaining and putting backsides in the pews than preaching in the Holy Spirit the complete word of God with the intent to make it when you leave the building you’re feeling good about yourself? You got your ‘gold attendance star for showing in in the morning,’  and now you can go on living in the world the remaining six and a half days?

Or, does the above Scripture inform the true believer they are in a battle, in a war and need to equip themselves accordingly as good, diligent soldiers if they want to survive the battles and win the war?

Far too many professed Christians and those standing on pulpits treat and think of Jesus Christ the Lord as a product. Like some advertised wonder drug or inanimate thing sold on TV to finally fulfill and make your life easier. Imagining they can buy into Christ according to the size, shape, color and style of ‘product’ they want to buy rather than truly knowing and having the understanding of what becoming a born anew true believer entails. Or worse yet, treat the Lord like popping a pill to make everything feel better.

Being a true believer is not taking the road to delusion and illusion. Quite the contrary. Being a true believer is finally SEEING, finally KNOWING, finally being able to discern REALITY. Not of our own power because we’re so special, smart or better. No, heaven forbid we would think or boast in such a manner. We only come to truly see, know, understand and have the ability to discern reality through the indwelling and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Period. It is not of our doing but through the power of the Spirit of God.

When we are true believers we come under greater constant attack from the Adversary, that old dragon the devil than do those he already has in his snare and enslaved. He doesn’t need to work his wiles and lies and deceptions on those unbelieving walking in darkness. They are his and he knows it. Satan and the fallen angels, and the minions of Satan focus their attention on those professing to be Christian.

They befall and capture many who built their faith upon the sand, or they heard the word on fallow ground, in thorns and weeds and whatever light and hope of growth there might have been has been chocked out. Washed away in the first storm of life. I can’t count the number of people I personally know who blame God for their consequences acting as if we’re all puppets on strings without choice in our actions, choice in the path we walk devoid of free will. Or, when adversity hits, or they don’t get their way they lose whatever little faith they had. Which was not true faith or it would not be so easily lost and abandoned. Too many weak professed Christians, too many fickle professed Christians, too many modern-day spoiled professed Christians.

More and more fall away from the faith daily. We are in the last of the last times as Scripture tells us, in which there is a Great Falling Away and the church is consumed and overrun with wolves in sheep’s clothing. Myriad false teachers and false prophets espousing false and unsound doctrines leading tens of millions astray.

When we are true believers were are under constant attack and must be trained, equipped and prepared for the constant battle.

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Drawing Near to God

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

James 4:1-10

Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Why treat Jesus Christ and God the Father like just another product or some wonder drug? To make you feel good? Never any suffering or sacrifice? Refusing to take chastisement, reproof or admonishment of any kind.

Far too many lower Christ and God to their finite fleshly level of crude understanding rather than working to rise towards Christ and God in Their infinite power, knowledge and love. Do not be confused though and attach worldly modern meanings to words such as ‘love.’ Love does not mean anything goes, everything is tolerated, there is no sin, there is no judgment, and there is no punishment, no chastisement, no discipline.

Do you not know that a truly loving father chastises so as to create in the child a foundation on which the child can stand and not fall? That chastisement is done out of love to equip the child for what is and what is to come for them?

Do not adopt the ways and beliefs of our diseased and corrupted present world and its false teachings which have increased like a cancer in the last 40, 50 years and grow worse by the day.

Too many professed Christians concern themselves with adopting and practicing worldly ways and being pleasing to the world than they concern themselves with adopting and practicing the teachings of the Scriptures on how we ought to be. Separate from the world. Not of the world. Hated by the world. Not accepted and loved by the world.

We are to embrace and endure and EXPECT sufferings and persecutions and difficult things and times to come. Life on earth is NOT heaven yet far too many imagine they say they believe in Jesus, go to church, put a gold, silver or platinum or wooden crucifix around their necks and whala! everything will be wonderful and they’ll have heaven on earth! This earth, which is the domain of the prince of this earth for a season, the devil is NOT heaven. Do not ever for an instance imagine it is just because you profess to be a ‘Christian.’

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

2 Timothy 2:3

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 5:1-5

Suffering as Christians

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

1 Peter 12-19

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Romans 8:18

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Romans 8:35

Now none of this means we are to go around wearing sackcloth and wallowing in ashes, or inflicting physical suffering and pain upon ourselves in self-flagellation as some lost extremists believe. Nor dies it mean we go about all dour, sour and glum. Nor putting on an act like the Pharisees and phonies who pose and go into great bits of theater when someone is around, or a camera is on them.

Nor are we to go about whining and complaining and telling people our “Woe is me!” stories.

God created each of us measuring out in each of us different talents, different abilities, but also different personalities and traits. None of us ought to attempt to emulate each other or harshly judge one another if a fellow professed believer is not exactly as we are, or closely resembling ourselves in demeanor. We all have different experiences as well as personalities.

Personally, I don’t go about all giddy and leaping about and running up to people saying, “Praise the Lord!” and from the contents on ACP many think I’m some angry, dour, never laughing, never with any happiness or joy in him man.

Just because I am serious about the Lord, about God, about the Holy Bible and about my walk as a disciple of Christ’s does not mean I do not possess joy or that I’m humorless.

Quite the contrary. I certainly know earthly joy, happiness, laughter and humor as well. A time and place for everything though.

I have constant joy inside at the Lord not giving up on a wretched sinner as I was. As one who knew better and treated Him and God and Their word as I had. As I had lived. I have constant continual joy, happiness, comfort and peace within for God sending His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord to this sinful world to teach us, live among us as God-man, to know what we go through to become the Sacrificial Lamb for our sins and to offer Himself up to death so that we could have forgiveness of our sins and salvation and eternal life.

And His resurrection, conquering death gives me constant joy, peace, comfort and hope in eternal life with my Lord.

But sufferings have come. They do come. They will come. Even greater sufferings are coming.

If the Lord appeared before me I would not treat Him like some product, some thing. I would fall prone on my face and not feel worthy of being in His presence and have an awe, a wonder a reverence and respect I have never known except in my heart and mind.

God, Christ and the Holy Spirit are not our equals. They are not to be brought down to our level.

We are to fall prone before them to rise up to Their level as best we can in this flesh, in our finite minds, in this sinful world where the flesh is always warring with the spirit and there is a constant spiritual war raging all around us.

Do not treat Christ like the latest or some wonder drug.

Treat Him as the Shepherd and be one of His sheep. Treat him as God. Treat Him as Saviour.

And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Matthew 10:38-39

With more awe, reverence, respect, wonder and love than you imagined you are capable of.

Because when we place our trust in Him, when we believe in Him, when we live our lives with Him, for Him and we ask and believe we will receive God and Christ will measure out to us greater spiritual wisdom and discernment, greater faith, greater strength to overcome anything the devil or this world throws at us.

Every product eventually wears out, breaks, need replacing.

Most of those offering a good or a service exaggerate their claims and they will fail you, lie to you, or go out of business at some point.

No drug, even the ones that can save the fleshly physical life for a time can compare to what is contained in the inerrant Word of God. No drug can save or compare or provide what God Almighty, Jesus Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit can.

Stop being frivolous. Stop seeking pleasure and entertainment and agreement with worldly views in your pastors and churches and walk in life.

Stop losing your faith when trials, afflictions, tribulations and sufferings occur.

If you fall and are so easily removed and weakened now what are you going to do in the days ahead when our faith will be tested all the more?

Turn from the false teachers, the unsound doctrines, the worldly psychologies and philosophies which have infected and corrupted the church and modern-day Christianity.

Be separate from this world.

Be truly His.

No matter what comes.

Think on eternity. Not just this moment or what is troubling you, or you feel is pulling you away.

The devil never sleeps and is always in the ear and mind of every believer.

Scream at him to flee from you in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord and turn to, lean on, rely upon God, Christ, the Holy Spirit and the word of God to deliver you from anything this world might befall you with.

Turn to Christ in all things. And know this and keep this in your heart and mind all the time;

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Psalm 34:19

All the time.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

2 Corinthians 4:17

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

Philippians 1:29

Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:2
