I have a problem with language. Not only in my feebleness to communicate better with words, and my weaknesses in language, but also in other’s usage. Or lack of.

I’m not merely referencing vulgarities and profanities. There is little we can really do with regard to the ignorance of vocabulary and the weakness of mind that must rely on spewing profanities like breathing or punctuation.

No, my beef is with those folks professing to be Christian, which translates into disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ speaking or writing no differently than any worldly speaker or writer.

I include a number of other people’s work here on A Crooked Path for a number of reasons. One, there is so much going on clearly revealing the times in which we live are the last of the last days, that no one person, nor an army of observers can keep up with it all. Also, other folks think about, find out things, and write of things beyond my ability or of my focus on any given day.

What irks me though, though perhaps it should not be as a Christian man, yet I believe I am correct in being irked about this is a professed Christian writing with a secular tone. As I mentioned above.

Imagine if you will someone in some faraway land that had been in a coma for the past 60 years wakes up and has the ability to read English and the read the article below or many others here. And that person who was awakened from their long slumber knew of Christianity, of the Holy Bible, of the Lord Jesus Christ. Would they know that the article below was spoken on the radio and thus a transcript is written by Christians?

Or could that person who just became conscious after hearing the words or reading them come away thinking it is some opinion of a person of the world? Something more political or ethical rather than spiritual since there was no way to discern from the hearing or the reading of what is presented that the people are Christians.

Why can’t those professing to be Christians, disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ actually let it be heard or seen in their words, their language what is of foremost importance in turning to the Word of God to clarify their words, their language based on what is contained in the Word of God!?

How about we stop trying to come off sounding so similar to the world the hearers, the readers don’t know if we’re truly Christians or not?

“Euthanasia in any form is a misguided answer to a real, human problem.”

That statement could be made by an ethicist, a doctor, a legislative body, or any person or organization against euthanasia but where is the connection to the Word of God and the spiritual aspect? Why can’t the connection to the Word of God and the spiritual aspect be a part of so much writing and speaking taking place by so-called Christians?

Stop appeasing the world, trying to please the world, and show those that are darkness and in darkness what God says with regard to all things. There is not one thing that has happened or can happen to any individual that cannot be found within the Word of God! Yet God’s words are absent from most of the words from most of the professed Christian writers!

How can this be?

Euthanasia and assisted suicide is killing, is MURDER. Plain and simple. Remove all the rhetoric that is used to make it sound compassionate and loving and caring for an individual and let’s get real, let’s speak and write clearly and plainly. No matter the condition a human being may be in for them or someone else to end their life before it was meant to end is MURDER. Nothing else. Forget all the babel and cunningly deceitful words attempting to justify and make this kind of MURDER acceptable.

You will read in the article below, and hear it on the audio if you open and listen, how the erosion, the sin, and the evil have entered into places professing to be Christian churches! Where in Manitoba, Canada a woman ended her life in a church surrounded by family and the clergy there!

Can you not see? Can you not hear the tsunami of evil that is upon us and how we must not become relaxed, complacent, like the world.

Euthanasia and assisted suicide is expanding and expanding not only in Canada but in America, in Western nations, and around the world. Always easing up the language, the restrictions, and permitting it to become easier and easier and more acceptable to murder, to kill, to play God.

The reason why the King James Bible says “Thou shalt not kill” is that God forbids all instances of any human taking the life of another person. “Kill” is generic but “murder” is specific. Contrary to what we hear and/or believe, they are not interchangeable! All murder is killing, but not all killing is murder. Murder is the intentional, premeditated killing of another; it involves planning, and evil thoughts beforehand. Killing, however, can be deliberate or accidental. (If you want to see how God distinguishes between murder and manslaughter, see Deuteronomy 19:4-10.) Almighty God does not condone anyone taking the life of another human (whether deliberate or accidental). Consequently, God uses the word “kill” in the Word of God—“Thou shalt not kill.”

The sixth commandment: Thou shalt not kill — Exodus 20:13 — King James Version

You may think I’m being rather cranky, haughty, smug, or arrogant in this. Please know I do not ever for an instant imagine myself superior to anyone else. My reason for bringing this up is that there has been more than enough erosion and watering down and blurring so that what is supposed to be from a Christian can’t be discerned from what is of the world. This is the Evil One at his best. What he does best. And we the people oblige him rather than speaking and writing so as to be known to be separate from the world. Not superior, certainly not as any true Christian knows and ought to quickly and dutifully say the words they write or speak in such a manner are from their knowledge of them once being darkness, not only were they in darkness but at one time we were darkness [see Ephesians 6]. We were lost sinners. Not deserving of anything but God’s wrath and judgment. Were it not for God’s free gift of grace, His love, His mercy, His Son the Lord Jesus Christ sacrificing Himself for faithful sinners to become His disciples we were lost, doomed, reprehensible, and the enemy of God while we were the world’s.

No superiority here. The exact opposite. Thankfulness to God for never forsaking me though I forsook Him for so many years.

But there also needs to be heard and read the Word of God in our language, no matter how humble or gifted each of us may be. So let us truly appear separate from the world and not add to the confusion by sounding as if we are more concerned with coming off as highly educated, trendy, sophisticated, and so on.

Yeah, a beef of mine. I wonder why it isn’t a beef of others professing to be Christian?

There is such erosion and turning from the Word of God to the world among those professing to be disciples of Christ. The end is near. Most can’t even refer to each other as brother or sister at this point.

If a true Christian? Let it be known in your language.

A true Christian is a light unto the world — not indistinguishable from the world.

Our language is most important.

We will be held accountable for our every word [that’s in the Word of God also which you can look up for something to do].

I know I will have much to answer for and I won’t be able to speak in defense. Being humbled before the Lord. No excuses.

Let the light that is supposed to reside within us, that light being the Holy Spirit, God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ be seen and heard. Which is quite different than sounding like the world sounds.

A CROOKED PATH

Canada’s ‘Medical Assistance in Dying’ Expands and Expands (Audio)

Euthanasia in any form is a misguided answer to a real, human problem.

In 2015, Canada’s Supreme Court struck down a 22-year ban on assisted suicide. The next year, its parliament passed legislation allowing “MAID,” or Medical Assistance in Dying for those who suffer from terminal illness and whose death was “reasonably foreseeable.” Five years later, the “reasonably foreseeable” language was dropped, as was the requirement of terminal illness.

Today, ending one’s life with “medical assistance” simply requires a physician and a witness to agree that physical or mental suffering is such as “cannot be relieved under conditions that you (the patient) consider acceptable.” Next year, that will expand to include anyone with a mental illness, like PTSD or depression. There’s also talk about expanding the practice to include minors.

Soon, under Canadian law, someone accused of a crime “must possess the capacity to understand that his or her behaviour was wrong in order to be found guilty.” However, someone will not need the mental capacity to understand the implications of “medical assistance in dying” in order to choose death.

None of which, we are told, should alarm us. Proponents of assisted death always point to “safeguards,” such as physician approval, the uncoerced consent of the patient, or humane conditions. Certain stories are elevated, such as Betty Sanguin, an ALS patient who chose to end her life in a Manitoba church, surrounded by friends, family, and clergy, who secured permission for a MAID team to kill her in their sanctuary. Other stories are ignored.

Even in the so-called “safe” cases, a grave evil has been done. Life is sacred, a gift of God, and should never be thrown away. To intentionally end life in a church is not a blessing. It’s a distortion and a blasphemy.

For the most part, the realities of doctor-assisted death look nothing like the beatific best-case scenarios described in the sales pitch. In particular, there are culture-wide implications for human dignity and value, something that euthanasia advocates seem unable or unwilling to predict. Many begin to believe that their lives are unworthy of life, their volition stolen, their dignity degraded.

Last month in The SpectatorYuan Yi Zhu provided some of these stories in an article provocatively titled, “Why is Canada Euthanising the Poor?” He describes the real human cost of euthanasia laws and how the practice blurs the limits of consent:

“Now, as long as someone is suffering from an illness or disability which ‘cannot be relieved under conditions that you consider acceptable’, they can take advantage of what is now known euphemistically as ‘medical assistance in dying’ (MAID for short) for free. … Soon enough, Canadians from across the country discovered that although they would otherwise prefer to live, they were too poor to improve their conditions to a degree which was acceptable.”

His examples included an Ontario woman, who opted for assisted death because her disability benefits weren’t enough to cover smoke and chemical-free housing, and she was forced to live with crippling allergies. In Vancouver, another woman sought “medical aid in dying” when her debt kept her from affording the medication that would have alleviated chronic pain. The family of another 35-year-old disabled man discovered how appalling his living conditions were, only after he decided to end his own life. Tragically, by the time the government investigated the care facility and revoked its license, it was too late. As Zhu put it, “One may wonder how much autonomy a disabled man lying in his own filth had in weighing death over life.”

Individuals are supposedly “free” to choose, but it is unclear just how often this decision is impacted by financial concerns. “Healthcare, particular for those suffering from chronic conditions, is expensive,” wrote Zhu, “but assisted suicide only costs the taxpayer $2,327 per ‘case’.” He concluded:

“Canadian law, in all its majesty, has allowed both the rich as well as the poor to kill themselves if they are too poor to continue living with dignity. In fact, the ever-generous Canadian state will even pay for their deaths. What it will not do is spend money to allow them to live instead of killing themselves. “

For at least some of Canada’s poorest citizens, coercion in death is not some distant fear, promoted by scared conspiracy groups. The pressure is a daily reality.

Euthanasia in any form is a misguided answer to a real, human problem. Some, face a life of unimaginable pain. The only acceptable and loving response is to provide the best compassion, care, and pain management possible.

Anytime a country, such as Canada, embraces “death with dignity” or “medical aid in dying” or some other euphemistically disguised lack of compassion, a price tag is placed on people. And, whenever a price tag is placed on something that is inherently priceless, it is cheapened. In Canada’s case, the money is going to the so-called “autonomy” of vulnerable people, instead of fighting for their lives.
