I need to say a few things as to how the following commentary by Tom Ascol appears here. There is an immediate and glaring difference between people in the world that previously didn’t know each other coming together, and those who have truly been born anew, transformed by the Supernatural power of the Spirit of God who never knew each other coming together.

In the latter, there is a knowing. Not due to education, IQ, worldly wisdom, snobbery, or station in life. No, this knowing is due to once being darkness and then being made light by the Light and the Truth. A knowing that exists in true disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, especially heightened by those who not by their own desire but by their being led as part of the remnant are watchmen and watchwomen on the wall. A knowing only given by the Holy Spirit. Not of any of their own doing.

God, Almighty, All-Knowing God can do all things. Conquers evil and evildoers. Uses a few at any given time in world history to do His work. These few work in isolation, are scorned and mocked and do not receive much in the way of worldly rewards. They know they reach only a few and even among that few how many are moved to growth, boldness, increased love and desire for the Lord, and increased understanding in the Word and in these times.

These cut through all the worldly dung. Their friendship isn’t centered on self but on the Lord Jesus Christ, on God their Father, on the indwelling Holy Spirit, and the infinitely flowing clear words of life and truth in the Word of God. And how it all applies to everything in daily life. That is their center and starting place and priority. So different than worldly friendships.

I am convinced that in these times, as in the beginnings of the Early Church and throughout the ages those in the remnant, the watchmen and watchwomen on the walls must pray to find each other. Must faithfully serve the Lord selflessly by coming together. Asking the Lord to lead them to others in these times to keep the remnant strong, to speak and write spreading the gospel of the Good News, revealing the truths and evils of the day. Writing and speaking to the times since so few pastors and preachers do in these times.

Not that any of those doing this are special. Quite the opposite. Doing this out of humble thankfulness to have a Saviour, a God who loves them so much to forgive them their sin and by their faithfulness and obedience to the Word of God, to the Lord Jesus Christ, to God the Father use their gift however meager, use their weakness to His strength. His will be done on earth, as in heaven, His kingdom come.

Not about any of us.

A wee shepherd boy felled a mighty giant warrior thousands of big strong military men feared. A tall and strong king feared. He did this with some stones and a slingshot. Faithfully, Obedient to God. We aren’t David, and we will not fell the mighty evils that are present in this world, but we can do something rather than remaining idle, silent, self-focused, or in seeking material gain in doing this sort of thing. We can fell a few evils along the way if we believe as David did. Moreso sharing at times those “stones” to sling at evil in the hope there is at least someone out there that will be in the place these things can be found. And some darkness can be felled to open a space for the Light, Truth, Way, and Life to enter in. To have folks turn to God, turn to Jesus, turn to the study and love of the Word of God, and then to allow all those most important matters in this life to work in their heart and spirit.

I was recently richly blessed with a sister in the faith who has toiled diligently for over 20 years to recently become known to me. We are more than brother and sister in the faith of Jesus Christ, children of God and not children of evil of this world — but we’re friends. Without all the mental inventory and cautious effort, it takes in the world in these times to have a new person come into your life and immediately become your friend.

That is one massive difference between the truly transformed, born anew, in faith versus those in the world of darkness.

It is this sister in the faith, this watchwoman on the wall who sent me the following commentary by Tom Ascol.

This is what I am writing about we, those faithful disciples of Jesus in these times, those in the remnant, need to do among ourselves. There is no excuse with the technology afforded us. Rather than be selfish and want the light pointing towards us, let us learn to share vital truths, signs of the times, our faith, and our working together amongst ourselves. Without vanity, or thought of worldly gain.  Not like some 60s hippie malarkey, or some worldly communal nonsense.

But to serve the Lord.

Begin to find, seek out other true disciples of the Lord Jesus, humbly, selflessly, in the mindset to serve the Lord not ourselves. To increase the availability of information to perhaps help a few, For we are a few to sow seeds in the hope they fall on good ground and they germinate as the Spirit and the Word waters and nurtures to bring forth growth and good fruit. Or to encourage and help those in the remnant in need of these things to help them carry on.

We’re to be spiritual farmers for God, for Jesus, for the Holy Spirit, for the inerrant living Word of God.

Let us reach in together to the sweet-smelling soil and seek each other out to sow good seeds together in the prayerful hope if we work together for the Lord good fruit will come if it.

I am richly blessed and daily thankful for the sister in the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ that recently entered my life here and is now a friend. She made the following possible. For I had no idea it existed. This is what I mean that we, the remnant, the watchmen and watchwomen, the true disciples of the Lord need to do together. More of this. Less of self.

Now, please read the very important words written by Tom Ascol. Words every professed Christian ought to read and memorize!

A CROOKED PATH

Abortion and Our Lost Ability to Reason Morally

By Tom Ascol

Reprinted from Founders Ministries

The inability or unwillingness of Christians to employ rigorous, biblical, moral reasoning to address public attacks on God and Scripture over the last few years has been as stunning as it has been revealing. From the unbiblical assessments of lawless rioting and flagrant theft to descriptions of legalized abortion the United States, many who name the Name of Christ—including those in positions of leadership—have fallen woefully short of speaking with the wisdom we desperately need.

The recent attempt by the U.S. Senate to codify the legal murder of unborn children further highlights how anemic Christian public theology is today. Forty-nine Senators voted to legalize the murder of babies up to the point of their birth. Everyone of them is a Democrat. Yet, Christian deplorables have been lectured by our betters for at least the last seven years on how and why we must make room for voting for Democrat candidates at every level of government. We have been told that we do not understand the complexities of the issues involved; that though Christians might be personally opposed to abortion we must allow that they can, nevertheless, vote for political leaders who are committed to the slaughter of innocent children; and that since the Bible doesn’t tell us “how” to fight against abortion, we mustn’t argue in terms of national righteousness for one political candidate over another or contend that any political party is better or worse than another.

Yet, as I was reminded this morning when I reread it, the Democrat party platform includes five references to making abortion legal, tax-payer-funded, and readily available in the U.S.A.

“To know God and to fear Him means that we tremble at His Word, believe His gospel, and love His law.”

Many sincere but naive Christians have been led astray by such perverted moral reasoning and have consequently voted for the party of death in the last several political elections. They have done so with reassurances that they honored Christ with their vote. Christians who, like R.C. Sproul, out of moral conviction have argued against voting for any candidate who advocates abortion, have been labeled white supremacists, Christian nationalists, ignorant fundamentalists, and worse.

I and other Christian pastors have been accused of suddenly “becoming political” & making politics more important than theology. We have been slandered as contending that unity is now based on politics rather than devotion to Christ and His Word. We have been charged with having politics drive and shape our doctrinal convictions and of requiring certain political affinities in the churches we serve.

Such accusations are not only erroneous, they are also ignorant. They are a commentary on how poorly many Christians, including many Christian leaders reason morally. Christ is Lord over everything—including politics. His rule does not end at the voting booth. Christians must vote like Christians. Neighbor-love means that I seek the greatest good for my neighbor. My neighbors in the U.S. will be in a far worse position spiritually, morally, and before God with every additional advocate for child-murder that is placed in public office. That is true because “righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).

The more “we the people” give political power to baby-murderers the more we increase our national sin and rebellion against God and the more we provoke Him to His face and “tempt” Him to do to America what He did to Sodom and Gomorrah and has done with nations throughout history.

“God’s people in America should repent of our complacency and complicity in the forty-nine-year holocaust we are living through and call for the immediate end of legalized abortion.”

To know God and to fear Him means that we tremble at His Word, believe His gospel, and love His law. It requires that we seek His honor by advocating for His ways not only in our private lives but in every area of influence He entrusts to us, including the right to vote.

To vote for anyone who advocates policies of legalized murder is foolish and sinful. Leaders who encourage Christians to do so are doubly culpable and have forfeited their right to be followed. If the innocent blood of Abel cried out to the Lord (Genesis 4:10), what must be the deafening cry in heaven from the more than 63,000,000 innocent babies that have been legally slaughtered in the U.S. since 1973! And yet, we have Christian leaders and ethicists contending that it is allowable for Christians to vote for pro-abortionists. Other, more conservative leaders, have argued that the call for the immediate end of the abortion holocaust is unloving, disingenuous, or impolite. Such leaders, if they refuse to repent, should be ignored and rejected as untrustworthy by those who would be faithful to Jesus Christ and honor His lordship over all the earth.

Praise God for the prospect of having the evil ruling of Roe v. Wade overturned by the United States Supreme Court. But whether or not that happens, God’s people in America should repent of our complacency and complicity in the forty-nine-year holocaust we are living through and call for the immediate end of legalized abortion. We must insist on equal protection under the law for the most vulnerable among us. And we must never forget nor let our reasoning lose sight of the fact that abortion is murder.

May God have mercy on this nation.
