ACP — A Crooked Path
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence.
2 Samuel 22:3 — English Standard Version
Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 — Christian Standard Bible
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.”
John 14:1 — English Standard Version
I have three very important requests at this time. I pray all those finding themselves at this place at this time will take these requests to heart and take them before the Lord our God in faithfulness.
The first two requests are broad and encompassing. The third request is close to home and personal. Each person here now can pray fervently, faithfully for all these requests. Even the personal one as God knows all, sees all, hears all — and no faithful prayer that is not amiss goes unheard.
Also in these please include God’s will be done on earth as in heaven. Not our will. Not according to our finite ways, but according to God’s will, and may we place our trust and abide in that. Always.
First I am asking everyone to pray daily, pray nightly, pray without ceasing for all the individual saints, every true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ on this earth facing and enduring persecution solely for their faith in Jesus. For their unyielding faith. Standing firm in the face of sufferings, trials, tribulations, torture, loss of everything they may know. Including death. All because they are faithful servants of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Throughout all of Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and even in Canada, Australia, and America at an increasing and eroding rate persecutions take place. The most severe where thousands have lost and are losing their lives is taking place throughout African nations, the Middle East, and Asia. Tens of thousands slaughtered only because they knew and believed in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Son of God and would not renounce Him as Lord.
Even though we may not know these believers? So strong and holding firm to the faith? Let them not only be in our daily prayers but let them be an example to each of us. (Many examples of the daily and increasing persecution of Christians can be found in numerous articles here on A Crooked Path).
Pray daily, pray nightly for the persecuted disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is more violence, more oppression, more harm, more tribulations and trials, more suffering, more death on this earth in the past 100 years and present than in the Dark Ages or the times of the Barbarians and Vandals. Let us not forget we are living in Biblical times. And the last of the last days. The time before the Lord’s return is not being added to daily, but lessening rapidly. The time is growing shorter.
Secondly, I am asking everyone to pray fervently, faithfully daily, and nightly for every pastor, preacher, and minister professing to be a Christian. The current state of what is called Christianity is sick and greatly ailing, greatly distressed. The body is rebelling and not listening to or obeying the Head. We have more false teachers and unsound doctrines, more itching ears, and more falling away than at any other time in history. And it is not improving dear ones. These are dire days for the Chruch. We are blessed and thankful for so many true and godly men gifted by the Lord to preach and exhort and expound on the Word of God and to rely upon the Holy Spirit for guidance.
Let us pray continually for these men. That they remain strong in the faith. Unwavering in their preaching and teaching of the whole of God’s Word and truth. Pray for your pastor. Pray for all pastors who turn to the Lord and seek His guidance in their preaching.
And pray especially for those who lean to their own understanding and have corrupted and perverted the Holy Bible and no longer preach sound doctrines. Pray their hearts, spirits, minds, and souls are pierced by the power of the Spirit of God and they repent and remove themselves from their error and return to sound doctrines no longer leading millions astray. Pray these come to understand and know their responsibility and the consequences of their teaching myths, fables, lies, and worldly things rather than sound doctrines from the inerrant Word of God.
Lastly, of a close to my heart personal nature — there is a faithful brother in the faith I know from the church he and I are members in. His name is Phil. Phil is not only my brother in Christ, but Phil is also a friend.
In September of 2013 he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. For anyone unfamiliar that is a cancer. A type of blood cancer that starts in white blood cells, plasma cells, mostly in bone marrow. These are very important cells because they are a vital part of every person’s immune system to fight infection.
Damage to the DNA in these cells turn the helpful plasma cells into cancerous myeloma cells.
In December of 2014 Phil underwent a stem cell transplant. He never went into remission. He has been able to endure and get by up to now with a maintenance dose of oral chemotherapy. Up until January of 2018. At which time Phil and his doctor began adding more drugs to his regimen to keep his cancer at bay.
Unfortunately, things have accelerated with Phil’s cancer. And since May of this year he has had to change drugs three times. In late June he fractured his clavicle because two lesions had damaged and weakened the bone. His clavicle required 5 radiation treatments. He will not learn until mid-October if his clavicle is healing properly.
None of the 3 drugs he has been given are working.
So all of his bones are being adversely affected.
His physician in the past week changed his drugs again and the next step for Phil will be clinical trials.
Phil needs 3 specific prayers for each of us to keep in mind when praying for him.
1.) That the new set of drugs work.
2.) That his bones will not be adversely impacted.
3.) That his damaged clavicle heals.
The reason Philippians 4:6-7 appears in this posting is because in an email that Phil sent to me he wrote that Scripture is one he refers to, reads, and keeps in mind.
Phil is a faithful man. A man in need of prayers.
Even though you may not know Phil personally? God knows him. And if you lift these prayer requests up to God faithfully? God will hear. God knows.
And we all ask that God’s will be done, on earth, as in heaven. And may each of us come to know and expect God’s will. May each of us grow stronger in our faith, in our walk — and that only comes from our time in God’s Word, our time in prayer.
Believe, Be faithful. Be fervent. Be humble. Be obedient. Believe. Be mindful and prayerful. Trusting in the Lord our God, our Shield, our All.
