A Good Newsstand

ACP — A Crooked Path

A good newsstand carries the most important news of the day from the best sources available in an orderly manner to those who walk up to it with any interest. Motivated more by providing such information over that of worldly profit, or being the most visited newsstand on the block. Keeping the priority of why it is they are in the business they are, and Who has made it all possible in the mind of the proprietor of the newsstand continually.

Sometimes needing to go back in order to move forward. Slow down, you’ve got to make the not only the morning last, but all that is ingested in a day mean something. Really matter. Just as what we allow into our mouths and feed upon daily, what we allow into our hearts and minds can also keep us healthy, be it empty calories, junk food, or downright tainted and deadly.

I read the news today, oh boy, and it isn’t about a lucky man who blew his mind out in a car Mr. John Lennon or give peace a chance, or all you need is worldly fleeting love/lust — it’s about this ever-increasing in darkness utterly lost world and all the people walking about dead. Clueless. Misdirected. It’s about where they may spend their eternity.

Isn’t it interesting that a person grows fat and ill, sorely malnourished when ingesting more junk, sweets, and such, pushing everything that may seduce in how it tastes, its momentary pleasure on the tongue and palette, or eating with one’s eyes while what they are addicted to and ingest continually is low in nutrition and that which provides health? Saps vitality, is full of everything that leads one to an early grave, or a lifetime of woes? While that which can better feed a person to keep them from suffering needlessly, living with illness, or not being as vital and alive as they ought to be, the things that can keep them from debilitating and incapacitating them are the things most neglected and are ingested the least, if at all. Like much of what is eaten today by an overwhelming number of folks must not only be uppermost a pleasure on the tongue, but also made instantly, swiftly, and easily. As the microwave, boil-in-the-bag, drive-thru, rip open a bag and eat with their hand citizen of the world perpetually mumble “no time, no time, no time…” similar to the white rabbit in Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” wastes so much time in vain pursuits never arriving at their destination [except to land in an eternal destination not of their liking]. The reality of most so similar to the fantasy and fiction of that tale. Always running to something but never pausing to hear or see what they ought to be really paying attention to. Coming to an end they didn’t believe in, and never wanted. Tragic, isn’t it? Unnecessary, isn’t it?

That is one of Satan’s slickest, greatest, and most effective devices he’s used since he appeared in the Garden a few years back. Oh, what’s that? It’s been longer than a few years? No, not really. When keeping everything in perspective of eternity. Human beings are the very worst instruments to measure time appropriately. Mainly because few live in the moment given them by God, always looking ahead, impatient, never content, not knowing how to truly take time to think, to listen, to see. Most foolishly believing nothing from the past is relevant, or it all happened “so, so long ago who cares it doesn’t matter to me it isn’t about me!”

Here’s another clue for one and all — live in the very moment, the very day the Good Lord has blessed you with, not attempting to live in the past, or put yourself in the future not yet arrived or even given while always keeping eternity in mind in everything every day.

Ahh, let’s get back to the Garden, shall we? Where each one of us currently living came from and are still connected to. What’s that? So sure that you’re American, German, Japanese, Indian, or from some other geographical locale? That your ancestry comes from someplace found on a globe or map of the world? No, let’s realize where our ancestry really originated. In the Garden of Eden. You see, we’re all really Middle Easterners! Just as everyone who has ever known fleshly human life on earth has. In this mere one blink of the eye in the timeline of world history, if that, in relation to eternity.

You think you’ve had bad a day? A bad week? A bad couple of years? Try to imagine a really bad beyond anyone’s feeble and finite comprehension eternity!

To those cocky, “I have the liberty to do whatever I desire, I go to church [though it be dead in the Spirit and alive with the preaching of the world, thus the devil], I volunteer on the holidays to hand out turkeys, work in my church or community center to feed the poor, hey, get off my back I do a lot of things and I always wear my nice 18k gold crucifix around my neck!”

You may wear something outward, and give many outward appearances, you may even be deceiving the people around you by your speech, and believe you’re fooling yourself, but it is only what truly lives in a person’s heart that matters. Who lives in the person’s heart. Primarily themselves? Their jobs? Their status and material accumulations? Most people have in their hearts the same as they have in some drawer or closet or garage in their house. A lot of junk in a disorganized manner that isn’t helping them at all. A lot of worldly dung accumulated over time that has been stuffed away. Just as there can be a coronary blockage leading to physical death or a greatly altered life if surviving such an attack. So, too there is a heart blockage from all the worldy dung, being a hoarder of worldy things, that keeps a person from having a clear path to a healthy spiritual heart wherein the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ the Lord resides.

Isn’t it ironic that worldwide the leading cause of death is heart disease?

The same that leads to the majority spending their eternities in the pit of hell, needlessly, due to real eternal heart disease, that actually kills more than the physical kind does.

Who reports about that most important reality on any news channels, sources, [anti-social] social media, or newsstands in your neighborhood?

The format for this particular newsstand is changing. Well, not is changing, it has changed as of last night. Yes, that quickly.

As I mentioned in the previous column Priority there have been changes afoot. Starting right now.

Oh, the current events are still going to be mentioned. Instead of copying and pasting entire articles though they now will be provided in link form.

There will be far less junk food available at this newsstand from now on and a lot more healthy fare leading to a healthier spiritual life. A change in diet is needed. And anything, everything we ingest is our diet. Another bit of misinformation the world follows. Believing a diet must have a name, be something to have them lose weight, some person or food trend makes a diet that can or will forever alter their lives, and on and on from one failure to another. Never realizing everything they have put in their mouths from birth to their present moment has been and is their diet. Anything eaten or drunk is your diet. If you live on mud and drink water from puddles that is your diet. Just as people need to stop following a name, a trend, this or that as their “diet,” so, too, people must stop being led to a name, a trend, following the masses over the precipice in the “diet” they intake of words, images, speech, and so-called information.

I am, I realize after these past few years, directed to be a wee watchman on the wall. A town crier. If you’re one that only has a .06 nanosecond attention span then perhaps this is not the place for you. If you’ve found yourself here expecting, or requiring everything to be left vs. right, American politics and nationalism then, again, perhaps this is not the place for you. If you profess to be a Christian yet have your heart more occupied with the world, yourself, and all the noise, banality, insanity, and stupidity on social media or what passes for news then this certainly is the place for you [though you may vehemently disagree and quickly flee!].

If you find yourself here and you think “this guy is full of crap, I don’t believe in any of this God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, or Bible stuff, who does this jerk think he is?” due to any number of reasons why that is what is in your heart and mind then this place is definitely the place for you [though you also may vehemently disagree and quickly flee!].

If you’ve been a long-time or recent subscriber to this humble abode, a regular visitor as the door is always open here, do not fear. With the help of the Lord and more diligence, more maturity, increased spiritual growth and wisdom measured out to me by my daily and nightly asking of the Lord to faithfully pour those out and into me I pray this place only improves and can be of a much better use for you.
