All Scripture used is from the King James Version Holy Bible
I just want to remind readers that Pastor Cornelius Stam died over 15 years ago. He witnessed the growing apostasy which has only increased like a virulent cancer unabated in the professed Christian church among pastors, preachers, ministers and their congregations.
A.W. Tozer, who is featured extensively on this website died in 1963. Fifty-five years ago. More years than many readers who happen upon this place have lived, and Mr. Tozer preached upon, wrote about, and spoke on the increasing falling away, the great apostasy and false teachings overtaking the church at that time — in the 1950s and early 1960s.
In the past 15 years in America we have witnessed how in polls and surveys taken in 2003, in almost every survey and poll between 65% to 67% of those polled declared the abomination of homosexuality to be wrong and they were opposed to homosexual “marriage.” Now, in 15 short years, the abomination and sin of homosexuality has been elevated and placed upon a pedestal and in survey upon survey, poll upon poll in America the same percentages are found, only now between 65% to 67% approve of homosexual “marriage.” This is a nation that also claims to have 80% of its population say they believe in God and nearly 70% of the population claim they are “Christian.”
How swiftly the erosion, the false teachings and false teachers rise up and remove many from the truth!
We are a people who have murdered over 60,000,000 babies since 1973.
We elevate and worship idols.
We promote New Age (Pagan beliefs, practices, ways and rituals).
Such as earth worship and elevating the matriarchal over the patriarchal (the burgeoning and growth of environmentalism and feminism — both with their roots in paganism).
We mingle false teachings of other faiths, invite false faiths, cults and paganism and idol worship into our so-called “Christian churches” and “Christian services.”
We gravitate to and glorify wolves in sheep’s clothing misleading and destroying the flocks.
Yet we claim we believe in God and are “Christian.”
Relativistic philosophy has overtaken and consumed the churches and many of those professing to be “Christian.”
We have an increasing number of pastors, preachers and ministers espousing there is no hell. Whatever a person believes is fine and dandy. No consequences. All beliefs are valid and true if that’s what the individual believes! That everyone, no matter what they believe, no matter their faith is going to heaven even though the inerrant living word of God is VERY CLEAR to the contrary;
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
No one needs to have attended the apostate theology schools, seminaries and Bible colleges becoming a so-called thought and called expert to understand clearly since Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Sikh, native pagan cultures and every other faith except Christianity does not have Jesus Christ the Lord there is no pathway in them to heaven, to God. Period.
Today’s so-called “faith” is based on “feeling good.” Being “popular” and not upsetting anyone. Inclusion no matter how in error a person or teaching may be.
There is little or no speaking, preaching upon or writing of sin. Certainly nothing of mortifying sin.
Dictionary.com defines “Mortify” as:
- to humiliate or shame, as by injury to one’s pride or self-respect.
- to subjugate (the body, passions, etc.) by abstinence, ascetic discipline
Synonyms for “Mortify” are:
1. humble, abase. 2. subdue, restrain.
Today there is no preaching on sin let alone humbling oneself before a wrathful and judging God who has no part in sin and cannot abide sin. There is no abasing sin, no subduing sin, no restraining sin, no shame or embarrassment in sinning. No subjugating the flesh, the body, the mind by abstinence, repentance or discipline to avoid sin. No confessing of sins. Because we no longer teach, preach upon or believe in sin and sinners! What a shameful state. We are in the throes of the Great Falling Away.
We are awash in and drowning in sin. This is not news regarding the world, what I write of is the professed church, denominations, pastors, preachers, ministers and tens of millions, hundreds of millions who count and consider themselves “Christians” do not mortify sin. They embrace, glorify, accept and wallow in it!
Calling it good.
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Until and unless we make God and Jesus Christ CENTRAL to our lives, discerning wisely the complete Scriptures to understand the wrath of God, all the teachings of Jesus and of the apostles not deleting, altering, or attempting to “modernize” God’s word to fit the sinful times, these last of the last days we are none of His and merely pretending.
Being a Christian, being a disciple of Jesus Christ, being a child of God is not about “feeling good” and taking up worldly beliefs and practices and mindsets.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15
God needs to be central in all things. And to do so truthfully? One cannot mingle the world and the holy, the world and the word of God making a concoction palatable. No one can serve two masters as the word of God and Jesus Christ teaches us. We all serve either God and His rightness, or we serve this world and he who has dominion over it for a season, the devil. There are no other choices, options or gray area. It’s either or. Cut and dry. Very clear. Make no mistake. For if we would it would be an eternally deadly mistake.
Hopefully you can see that as clearly as those who place their complete faith in God and in the complete Scriptures do, and those who mortify sin and are not concerned with pleasing everyone and being loved and accepted by the world. Unlike those who are more concerned having backsides filling the pews filling the collection baskets as the majority calling themselves “Christian” now appear, and those in the pews only wanting to hear “feel good” illustrations and all-inclusive worldly teachings appeasing and pleasing their ears. The fables they turn to as they delude themselves they are “Christ-like” and serving God.
Shame and woe upon U.S.
Let us each individually acknowledge our sins, repent of our sins and turn back unto God and Christ studying, meditating upon, praying upon and working daily to live the word of God in service, honor and glory to the Lord.

God Is Central
by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam
Paul’s Epistle to the Romans is the foundation book of Christian theology. It brings us face to face with facts we ought to know and must know to be saved.
In the 16th and 17th verses of the first chapter, the apostle declares that he is proud of the gospel because therein the “righteousness”, or rightness of God is revealed.
God had to deal righteously with sin before He could offer salvation to sinners. Sin is not merely an affliction; it is moral wrong and kindles the wrath of a just and holy God.
The wrath of God is too little discussed by modern evangelists and preachers. They like to talk about the love and mercy of God, as though He were a Grand Old Man with a tolerant attitude toward sin. But they never fully appreciate His love and mercy because they do not understand His infinite wrath against sin.
Much evangelism today has become sort of a “try God” gimmick. The pleasures of the world don’t satisfy? Try God. You can’t shake off some terrible bondage? Try God. When all else fails, Try God!
But this humanistic approach is foreign to Scripture. God, His holiness, His wrath against sin and His love in providing salvation — these are central in Scripture, not man and his condition and his needs.
We are not to look upon God as our servant, who will help us in time of need, but as the Holy One whose justice we have offended but who, in infinite grace, paid for our sins Himself so that we might be redeemed. This is why the Epistle to the Romans begins its mighty argument with almost three chapters on the subject of sin. Then follows the Good News of God’s grace in settling the sin question so that we might be “justified freely by His grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).
And thus the same inspired writer declares in Ephesians 2:2-4 that we were “the children of disobedience” and therefore “the children of wrath”, but then goes on to show “God, who is rich in mercy” and “great” in “love”, saves believers by grace, giving them eternal life in Christ, who died for our sins.
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
