The War Rages On

“They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are out of course.”

Psalm 82: 5

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, “Hearken not unto the words of the [false]prophets that prophesy unto you. They make you vain; they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord. They say still unto those who despise me, ‘The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace;’ and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, ‘ No evil shall come upon you.’ For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath perceived and heard his word? Who hath marked his word, and heard it? Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind; it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. The anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart; in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly. I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran; I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.”

Jeremiah 23: 16-22

Let’s begin calling things as they are ok? Evil is evil, righteousness is right. Enough of the indoctrination of evil to soften and mislabeling what things really are; and Planned Parenthood has its roots in evil and not righteousness. Stop appeasing evil by imagining yourself being “politically correct” or “progressive” and “modern.” There is nothing new under the sun. Just more of it and it is spread out. Why America Really Matters

by Ken Pullen

ACP

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Contrary to the lies that have been taught in American schools now for over 30 years, and have impregnated the imaginations of the people of America, we were founded upon the bedrock of Christian belief, by God-fearing men. Righteous men. Scripture reading and fluent men.

“The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind. Where, some say, is the king of America? I’ll tell you, friend, He reigns above.”

Thomas Paine

“I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever.”

Thomas Jefferson

“Moreover, almost all the sects of the United States are comprised within the great unity of Christianity, and Christian morality is everywhere the same. In the United States the sovereign authority is religious, and consequently hypocrisy must be common; but there is no country in the whole world in which the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America, and there can be no greater proof of its utility, and of its conformity to human nature, than that its influence is most powerfully felt over the most enlightened and free nation of the earth.

The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other; and with them this conviction does not spring from that barren traditionary faith which seems to vegetate in the soul rather than to live.

There are certain populations in Europe whose unbelief is only equaled by their ignorance and their debasement, while in America one of the freest and most enlightened nations in the world fulfills all the outward duties of religion with fervor.

Upon my arrival in the United States, the religious aspect of the country was the first thing that struck my attention; and the longer I stayed there, the more did I perceive the great political consequences resulting from this state of things, to which I was unaccustomed. In France I had almost always seen the spirit of religion and the spirit of freedom pursuing courses diametrically opposed to each other; but in America I found that they were intimately united, and that they reigned in common over the same country.”

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”

Abraham Lincoln
It has been widely spoken and accepted throughout the world that America was founded and existed on Christian principles and those principles were part and parcel of our foundations. They were the main reason America was so blessed and had fought adversity and persevered to become the greatest nation ever on the earth.

It has also been widely spoken of that should America fall so too shall the rest of the world fall, for America has been the keystone in liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of justice since its inception. We have been the friend of Israel. We have been the friend and protector of what is right. We lived for the greater part of our brief history as a Christian nation with morals, with a moral compass. We did not embrace Humanism, or Relativism, and any unrighteous or evil that attempted to take root in America did not find enough fertile soil to take root, spread, and choke out the light of our foundations, and what we were as a nation and a people.

That all changed after WWII and the seeds that were planted and sat dormant for a time germinated and took root and began to spread and choke out the light of righteousness about 40 years ago. In the past 30 years this evil has been so pervasive and successful that at this time evil now dominates our land, and our people.

When we fail and fall, which we will, that will make it then possible with the world entering into chaos, the ushering in of the Antichrist and false prophet and what has been written that would come to pass…shall come to pass.

We have lost our way. Our people walk in darkness with a veil over their eyes blind to the truth. We have become Sodom and Gomorrah. Our time is short.

KUHNER: End of the Constitution

Obamacare birth-control mandate would defeat the First Amendment

By Jeffrey T. Kuhner

The Washington Times

Friday, February 10, 2012

Is America sliding toward autocratic rule? This is the essential question of Barack Obama’s presidency. Mr. Obama vowed to “fundamentally transform” the United States. Despite his incompetence and economic failure, the president is making good on his central promise: the destruction of our constitutional republic. He is trying – piece by painful piece – to reverse the legacy of the Founding Fathers. Conservatives have underestimated him at their peril. For Mr. Obama is not simply an inept, liberal president in the mold of Jimmy Carter. He is an ideological revolutionary who seeks to sweep away traditional America.

The American war of independence did not just overthrow British imperial domination. The Founders forged something almost unique in history: a nation devoted to individual liberty, Christian civilization and federalism. The rule of men was replaced bythe rule of law. The linchpin was constitutional government based on the separation of powers and checks and balances. The American system is entirely predicated on the Constitution. Once the Constitution becomes meaningless or just an inconvenient piece of paper, the American experiment is over. The republic is dead.

This is what’s at stake. Mr. Obama is acting like an arbitrary tyrant. He is running roughshod over the Constitution, egregiously, repeatedly and deliberately violating its restraints and clear limits on federal power. He has publicly admitted that he finds Congress a nuisance, an “obstacle” to his secular socialist project. He has said that he often thinks about “going it alone.” In fact, this is what he has done – so far, largely with impunity.

He waged an illegal war in Libya. The last time Congress officially declared war was in December 1941. Yet Mr. Obama went one step further, something his predecessors – Lyndon B. Johnson, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush – never did: He refused even to ask Congress for authorization. Mr. Obama ignored the War Powers Act, flagrantly circumventing congressional authority.

Moreover, late last year, the massive National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was signed into law, which potentially allows for the military – not domestic courts – to indefinitely detain American citizens suspected of ties to terrorism. The vaguely worded NDAA undermines the rule of law and due process, enabling the government to abrogate the fundamental right to trial. It lends itself to abuse of state power – the very thing our Founders warned against. In the wrong hands, the NDAA could be used as a weapon to persecute – and imprison – political opponents under the guise of fighting terrorism. This is the same administration that has lumped anti-abortion and anti-illegal-immigration activists with radical Islamists as possible “threats” to national security.

Yet it is not just national security. Mr. Obama has created countless policy czars possessing Cabinet-like powers without the approval or consent of the Senate. Recently, he appointed Richard Cordray to be the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau – despite the fact that he lacked needed support in the Senate. Mr. Obama’s response: Take a hike. He parachuted in Mr. Cordray as a recess appointment even though Congress was not in recess. The president has usurped congressional oversight – a clear and dangerous violation of the Constitution.

His greatest assault, however, is on religious freedom. Fortunately, his latest effort sparked a rebellion. Mr. Obama had declared war not just on the Catholic Church, but on the First Amendment. The administration ordered almost all religious organizations to provide health insurance coverage that includes free birth control and sterilization procedures – even the morning-after pill, which can induce abortions. Otherwise, under Obamacare, Catholic hospitals, charities and universities would face major fines totaling millions of dollars. The choice was clear: Catholic institutions must either abandon their fundamental tenets or go bankrupt. The contraceptive mandate denied the conscience rights of the church. It was state-sanctioned coercion of private entities to act against their explicit religious beliefs. This is why it triggered such furor among Catholics and non-Catholics alike. If such basic liberties could be trampled on, then nothing – and no one – is safe from big government’s crushing grip. Fortunately, a three-week outcry forced him to back off.

Like many on the radical left, Mr. Obama is an anti-Christian, anti-religious bigot. His goal is to purge Christianity from civil society, to marginalize religion from the public square. He essentially told the church that Washington, not the Vatican, will dictate how it must run its affairs and administer its social services. He demanded that Catholics sacrifice their beliefs on the altar of secular liberalism. The state – with him at its helm – is the new pagan church. Women’s “reproductive health care” trumps Catholic positions on birth control and abortion. The fact that most health insurers already cover contraception and that it is widely available and accessible to women – just go to your local Walgreens – means nothing to feminists or the powerful abortion lobby. The real aim is to smash the Catholic Church as a bulwark against the sexual revolution, reducing it to a quisling of the liberal regime.

Catholic leaders rightly stood up. The Church understood it was under siege. That may not be over. Mr. Obama could win a second term. Hence, Obamacare – along with its contraceptive mandate – might not be repealed and may even expand. If so, he will have succeeded in giving birth to his Frankenstein monster: a post-constitutional, post-American soft tyranny.

Arab Like Me

Maybe, just maybe, Arabs can break out of their self-destructive hatred and envy.

By Lee Habeeb

There are two kinds of Arabs in this world. Those who hate Jews, and those who don’t. And in my life, I have met more of the former than the latter.

I am not proud to say that. Arabs will not like me for admitting it. But it is true. And it is something I wish the Obama administration understood. It is something Americans should know as the “Arab Spring” enters its second year.

I didn’t know much about any of this as a Lebanese kid growing up in New Jersey. But I found out about it when I wrote my first pro-Israel column for my college paper as a young student journalist.

I defended Israel on some point I’ve long forgotten, but what I’ll never forget is the backlash I received from fellow Arabs. Some were Americans, others were students from Arab countries, many of whom I counted as friends.

First came the letters to the editor, then the personal insults. It was as if I’d broken a secret code I didn’t know existed. Some secret blood oath, which goes something like this: Arabs don’t speak unkindly of Arabs in public, or kindly about Israel.

The backlash stunned me. I pondered the pounding I had taken, and floundered a bit. I even thought for a short time of writing something negative about Israel the next time I had a chance, just to balance things out and reestablish my Arab bona fides.

One friend accused me of being a self-hating Arab. He explained to me that I was exploiting my ancestry to ingratiate myself with white America and the Jews who controlled white America.

I explained to him that I was white. And that I was an American. And that I didn’t believe that Jews controlled America. The Jewish men I knew had a hard enough time controlling their own families! But nothing I said helped relieve the tension, not even my stab at humor.

I also explained that many of my Jewish friends did not like my column. Most were liberals from New York or northern New Jersey who assumed I was with them on the politics of the Middle East, that I was in agreement with the governing thesis that drives most Arabs and liberal Jews: that it is Israel that is the problem in the region, not the Palestinians, and not the Arab world itself.

I also explained to him that I was mostly Lebanese, but also part German and part Italian, and that I was raised by parents who didn’t much care for the whole notion of hyphenated America. They taught me to think for myself, and have the courage to challenge authority. Even theirs, if I could make the case.

The fact is, Arabs don’t all look alike or think alike. But we are often pushed into a kind of groupthink, a kind of self-censorship that hinders our development and our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

We are not a universal group. But some of us believe in a simple universal truth: that every Arab deserves to live in freedom, wherever he or she might call home. Some of us want Arab countries to be more like America and Israel, places where the individual can flourish.

Say those words to many Arabs and they are shocked and angered. Soon, words like imperialist are thrown about, and the subject turns to Israel. Always, it seems, it turns to Israel.

Why the anger when I hint that America and Israel might have something to teach the Arab world? I thought about it for the longest time, and only recently stumbled upon the answer.

It is all about Arab self-doubt. It is all tied to a profound lack of cultural self-confidence, and a deep-seated fear that maybe, just maybe, Arabs won’t be very good at the self-governance thing. That Arab nations won’t be capable of building democratic cultures that engender the flourishing of human freedom, and that these nations won’t have the ability to tap the God-given talents of their people the way Americans and Israelis do.

That maybe, just maybe, the Arab world will never measure up to America or Israel.

Better, goes the logic, to cling to anger over the plight of the Palestinians. Better to cling to international policy disputes and to a deep-seated hatred of Israel. Better to play the role of victim, and the role of self-righteous critic, than to do the hard work of lifting up the conditions of your people.

Quinnipiac: Santorum Leads in Ohio

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

by Newsmax Wires

A new poll shows Rick Santorum edging ahead of Mitt Romney in Ohio.
The Quinnipiac University poll out Wednesday finds Santorum jumping to the lead with Ohio voters just three weeks before the Republican presidential primary.
The former Pennsylvania senator leads Romney 36-29 percent among likely primary voters.
Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich was third with 20 percent.
A Quinnipiac poll released last month had former Massachusetts Gov. Romney well ahead of Santorum. But that was before Santorum’s sweep in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri last week.
The latest telephone survey interviewed 553 likely Republican voters over the past week and has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
Ohio is one of two upcoming states where a Santorum victory could rock Romney’s campaign and unseat him as the presumed front-runner. Michigan is the second, with the Feb. 28 primary looming. In polls, Santorum is leading there too but Romney is spending $1.3 million in the run-up to the primary, so whether that lead holds remains to be seen.
The Ohio Quinnipiac poll also questioned likely voters on  whether Ohio Sen. Rob Portman would help any GOP presidential ticket:
“Pesident Barack Obama would get 46 percent of Ohio registered voters, to Romney’s 44 percent if the November election were today. … Picking Ohio Sen. Rob Portman as Romney’s running mate would not help the GOP ticket carry Ohio’s crucial electoral votes in November as the Democratic ticket pulls slightly ahead 47 – 43 percent.”

Group Forces Congressional Hearing On Big Sis’ Twitter, Drudge Spying

Homeland Security is monitoring the web for anti-government  sentiment and signs of social unrest

Steve Watson Infowars.com February 9, 2012

A privacy advocacy group has swayed Congress to  hold a hearing next week into the Department of Homeland Security’s practice of  monitoring social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, as well as media  reports and organizations, including The Drudge Report.

The  Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) recently obtained  close to 300 pages of documents, as a result of a  Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, detailing the federal agency’s “intelligence  gathering” practices on the web.

Among the documents were guidelines from DHS  instructing outside contractors to monitor the web for media reports and  comments that “reflect adversely” on the agency or the federal government.

As Reuters reported last month, in early 2010  contractors were asked to spend 24 hours monitoring news media coverage on  popular websites, including Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, WikiLeaks, as well as news sites including the Huffington Post and The Drudge Report.

The contractors were required to provide the DHS  with feedback on any potential “threats and hazards”, as well as “any media  reports that reflect adversely on the U.S. Government and the Department of  Homeland Security (D.H.S.) ability to prevent, protect and respond, to recovery  efforts or activities related to any crisis or events which impact National  Planning Scenarios.”

The documents also state that the program should  highlight “both positive and negative reports on FEMA, C.I.A., C.B.P., ICE,  etc., as well as organizations outside of D.H.S.”

The documents obtained by EPIC indicate that  following the exercise, a procurement official awarded an $11.3 million contract  to General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems in order to carry out the  monitoring on a “24/7/365 basis”.

EPIC director Ginger McCall notes that monitoring  what people are saying about government policies goes too far and has a chilling  effect on free speech.

“The Department of Homeland Security’s monitoring of  political dissent has no legal basis and is contrary to core First Amendment  principles,” she said.

“The language in the documents makes it quite clear that they  are looking for media reports that are critical of the agency and the U.S.  government more broadly,” said McCall. “This is entirely outside of the bounds  of the agency’s statutory duties.”

DHS officials have admitted that monitoring of  social networks for negative opinion was undertaken by the agency, but claim  that the operation was a one off test and was quickly dropped as it did not meet  “operational requirements or privacy standards,” which “expressly prohibit  reporting on individuals’ First Amendment activities.”

EPIC argues otherwise and has presented evidence  that suggests the practice is being held up by the DHS an an example that should  be emulated.

“They are completely out of bounds here,” McCall  said. “The idea that the government is constantly peering over your shoulder and  listening to what you are saying creates a very chilling effect to legitimate  dissent.

The Congressional hearing, DHS Monitoring of Social Networking and Media:  Enhancing Intelligence Gathering and Ensuring Privacy, will be  held Thursday February 16th.

However, it is already apparent where the House  subcommittee for intelligence and counter-terrorism stands on the matter. As reported by Reuters, the top two members of  the subcommittee, Rep. Patrick Meehan (R-PA) and Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA),  wrote to DHS Intelligence Chief Caryn Wagner last month, pressing her to more  carefully monitor users’ posts on sites such as Facebook and Twitter, in order  to help detect “current or emerging threats.”

As we have also previously reported, The DHS has  openly announced that it is actively monitoring social media for signs of “social  unrest”, in a bid to pre-empt any sign of social dislocation within  the United States.

Islamists Rejoice: Obama Admin. Pledges $800 Million in Aid to “Arab

Spring” Countries

Let’s do a quick review of what’s gone down in Egypt over the past two months alone.

A.) The Muslim Brotherhood and an even more extreme Islamist party, Al-Nour, won control of 75 percent of the Egyptian parliament after sweeping electoral victories.

B) The Brotherhood wasted no time angling for sharia law and the elimination of Egypt’s 31-year peace treaty with Israel.

C) The ruling military regime–which seems to have struck up a marriage of convenience with the Islamists, for the time being–rounded up and arrested 43 foreign aid workers, including 19 Americans, and is refusing to let them leave the country. A show trial may soon follow.

And what is the price that Egypt’s ruling Islamo-military complex will pay for this bad behavior? More like, what is the price that will be paid to the Brotherhood? Why, $1.3 billion in military aid, what else?

Here’s more on the Obama administration’s new Islamist Winter, er, Arab Spring aid package that your taxpayer dollars will be supporting, from Reuters:

The White House announced plans on Monday to help “Arab Spring” countries swept by revolutions with more than $800 million in economic aid, while maintaining U.S. military aid to Egypt.

In his annual budget message to Congress, President Barack Obama asked that military aid to Egypt be kept at the level of recent years — $1.3 billion — despite a crisis triggered by an Egyptian probe targeting American democracy activists.

The proposals are part of Obama’s budget request for fiscal year 2013, which begins October 1. His requests need the approval of Congress, where some lawmakers want to cut overseas spending to address U.S. budget shortfalls and are particularly angry at Egypt.

Obama proposed $51.6 billion in funding for the U.S. State Department and foreign aid overall, when $8.2 billion in assistance to war zones is included. The “core budget” for the category would increase by 1.6 percent, officials said.

Most of the economic aid for the Arab Spring countries — $770 million — would go to establish a new “Middle East and North Africa Incentive Fund,” the president said in his budget plan.

Read it all. If it all sounds pretty horrible, that’s because, well, it is. But hey, according to the Brotherhood, we wouldn’t dare cut aid to Egypt even if we wanted to. So it looks like happy days and the sharia way are here to stay.

Darwin’s Birthday to be Celebrated in Church this Sunday: Liberal

Christianity Supports Darwinism

by Mike Keas

The Christian Post

University of Oklahoma History of Science Collections

What  will be the focus of attention in your church this Sunday?  For many  liberal churches and synagogues, Charles Darwin will have his day of  glory in services this weekend. Sunday February 12, Darwin’s birthday, is the centerpiece of the 2012 “Evolution Weekend” event invented by The Clergy Letter Project.

Here is how the National Center for Science Education (NCSE), the leading  Darwin-only educational advocacy organization, advertises the annual  “Evolution Weekend” and it host organization, The Clergy Letter Project:

The  brainchild of Michael Zimmerman, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts  and Sciences at Butler University, the Clergy Letter Project was founded  in 2004; its activities include a similar letter for Christian clergy,  currently endorsed by over 11,000 members [now 13,000] of the clergy  across the country and around the world; a pool of scientists willing to  work with clergy on promoting scientific literacy; a collection of  sermons, articles, readings, and websites relevant to the Clergy Letter  Project’s goals; and Evolution Weekend (formerly Evolution Sunday), in  which religious leaders are encouraged to discuss the compatibility of  faith and science in their sermons, Sabbath or Sunday schools, and  discussion groups, on or about Darwin’s birthday….

The  Darwinists at the NCSE are delighted to have 13,000 clergy preaching a  Darwin-friendly faith.  Although Eugenie Scott, NCSE’s Executive  Director was awarded the American Humanist Association’s 1998 Isaac Asimov Science Award, she has done her best to appear religiously neutral.  To help break down resistance to accepting Darwinism in public schools, Dr. Scott advocates sending students out to “interview their pastors and priests about  evolution” (provided that “conservative Christian” viewpoints don’t  dominate that particular community, in which case she does not recommend  this approach). The NCSE hopes to increase the number of  Darwin-friendly places of weekend worship, and thus promotes The Clergy  Letter Project and its “Evolution Weekend.”

How can we best understand and think critically about “theistic evolution”? According to the influential news magazine World (published by God’s World Publications), the two best books of the year 2011 deliver successful scientific and theological critiques of theistic evolution: (1) God and Evolution: Protestants, Catholics, and Jews Explore Darwin’s Challenge to Faith edited by philosopher Jay Richards and (2) Should Christians Embrace Evolution? edited by leading British medical geneticist Dr. Norman Nevin. World recognizes the debate over evolution in churches and religious colleges  as the “biggest current battle both among Christians and between  Christian and anti-Christian thought.”

Interestingly World’s 2008 Book of the Year, Tim Keller’s The Reason for God, states on page 94: “For the record I think God guided some process of  natural selection, and yet I reject the concept of evolution as an  All-encompassing Theory.” Note how one of World’s two 2011 Books of the Year (God and Evolution) responds to this statement by the highly regarded evangelical pastor Tim Keller. God and Evolution editor Jay Richards argues on pages 23-25 of his introduction (which you may download for free here)  that Keller’s distinction between evolution as a hypothesis and  evolution as a “worldview of the way things are” doesn’t offer much  guidance.  This is “a vague distinction without a difference,” Richards  observes.

Richards continues:

I  am not intending to pick on Keller, whose work I hold in high regard. I  am using him to illustrate how confusing this issue can be, and how  even smart, orthodox religious thinkers often get into a muddle when  they try to wed their Christian beliefs with Darwinian evolutionary  theory.

If we peel away these confusions and look for a  straightforward, coherent position, however, we usually end up with the  idea of God-guided common ancestry. This is probably what most people  would think theistic evolution means. But they would be wrong, at least  when it comes to describing the views of many who describe themselves as  theistic evolutionists. These days most theistic evolutionists seek,  somehow, to reconcile theism with Darwinian evolution. They may affirm  design in some broad sense at the cosmic level, but things get patchy  when it comes to biology. Though it’s not always easy to understand what  they’re saying, many theistic evolutionists want to integrate the blind  watchmaker thesis into their theology. Now that would be quite a trick  to pull off.

So, even a few conservative evangelical leaders are a bit confused about Darwinian evolution. Although Keller’s The Reason for God is among the best general Christian apologetics books, it is notably weak in its treatment of evolution.

If you are in New York City this weekend you might want to visit Tim Keller’s Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA).  The February 12th sermon has nothing to do with Darwin: Sermon  Title, “The Incarnation” (Mathew 1:18-25).  You might need to find a  liberal Christian or Unitarian church if you want to hear a Darwin  sermon this Sunday.  If you really want to think critically about  theistic evolution (rather then prematurely celebrate Darwin in a “place  of worship”), go here for the most up-to-date resources.

10 Things That Every American Should Know About The Federal Reserve

by Michael Synder

What would happen if the Federal Reserve was shut down permanently? That is a question that CNBC asked recently, but unfortunately most Americans don’t really think about the Fed much. Most Americans are content with believing that the Federal Reserve is just another stuffy government agency that sets our interest rates and that is watching out for the best interests of the American people. But that is not the case at all. The truth is that the Federal Reserve is a private banking cartel that has been designed to systematically destroy the value of our currency, drain the wealth of the American public and enslave the federal government to perpetually expanding debt. During this election year, the economy is the number one issue that voters are concerned about. But instead of endlessly blaming both political parties, the truth is that most of the blame should be placed at the feet of the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve has more power over the performance of the U.S. economy than anyone else does. The Federal Reserve controls the money supply, the Federal Reserve sets the interest rates and the Federal Reserve hands out bailouts to the big banks that absolutely dwarf anything that Congress ever did. If the American people are ever going to learn what is really going on with our economy, then it is absolutely imperative that they get educated about the Federal Reserve.

The following are 10 things that every American should know about the Federal Reserve….

#1 The Federal Reserve System Is A Privately Owned Banking Cartel

The Federal Reserve is not a government agency.

The truth is that it is a privately owned central bank. It is owned by the banks that are members of the Federal Reserve system. We do not know how much of the system each bank owns, because that has never been disclosed to the American people.

The Federal Reserve openly admits that it is privately owned. When it was defending itself against a Bloomberg request for information under the Freedom of Information Act, the Federal Reserve stated unequivocally in court that it was “not an agency” of the federal government and therefore not subject to the Freedom of Information Act.

In fact, if you want to find out that the Federal Reserve system is owned by the member banks, all you have to do is go to the Federal Reserve website….

The twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks, which were established by Congress as the operating arms of the nation’s central banking system, are organized much like private corporations–possibly leading to some confusion about “ownership.” For example, the Reserve Banks issue shares of stock to member banks. However, owning Reserve Bank stock is quite different from owning stock in a private company. The Reserve Banks are not operated for profit, and ownership of a certain amount of stock is, by law, a condition of membership in the System. The stock may not be sold, traded, or pledged as security for a loan; dividends are, by law, 6 percent per year.

Foreign governments and foreign banks do own significant ownership interests in the member banks that own the Federal Reserve system. So it would be accurate to say that the Federal Reserve is partially foreign-owned.

But until the exact ownership shares of the Federal Reserve are revealed, we will never know to what extent the Fed is foreign-owned.

#2 The Federal Reserve System Is A Perpetual Debt Machine

As long as the Federal Reserve System exists, U.S. government debt will continue to go up and up and up.

This runs contrary to the conventional wisdom that Democrats and Republicans would have us believe, but unfortunately it is true.

The way our system works, whenever more money is created more debt is created as well.

For example, whenever the U.S. government wants to spend more money than it takes in (which happens constantly), it has to go ask the Federal Reserve for it. The federal government gives U.S. Treasury bonds to the Federal Reserve, and the Federal Reserve gives the U.S. government “Federal Reserve Notes” in return. Usually this is just done electronically.

So where does the Federal Reserve get the Federal Reserve Notes?

It just creates them out of thin air.

Wouldn’t you like to be able to create money out of thin air?

Instead of issuing money directly, the U.S. government lets the Federal Reserve create it out of thin air and then the U.S. government borrows it.

Talk about stupid.

When this new debt is created, the amount of interest that the U.S. government will eventually pay on that debt is not also created.

So where will that money come from?

Well, eventually the U.S. government will have to go back to the Federal Reserve to get even more money to finance the ever expanding debt that it has gotten itself trapped into.

It is a debt spiral that is designed to go on perpetually.

You see, the reality is that the money supply is designed to constantly expand under the Federal Reserve system. That is why we have all become accustomed to thinking of inflation as “normal”.

So what does the Federal Reserve do with the U.S. Treasury bonds that it gets from the U.S. government?

Well, it sells them off to others. There are lots of people out there that have made a ton of money by holding U.S. government debt.

In fiscal 2011, the U.S. government paid out 454 billion dollars just in interest on the national debt.

That is 454 billion dollars that was taken out of our pockets and put into the pockets of wealthy individuals and foreign governments around the globe.

The truth is that our current debt-based monetary system was designed by greedy bankers that wanted to make enormous profits by using the Federal Reserve as a tool to create money out of thin air and lend it to the U.S. government at interest.

And that plan is working quite well.

Most Americans today don’t understand how any of this works, but many prominent Americans in the past did understand it.

For example, Thomas Edison was once quoted in the New York Times as saying the following….

That is to say, under the old way any time we wish to add to the national wealth we are compelled to add to the national debt.

Now, that is what Henry Ford wants to prevent. He thinks it is stupid, and so do I, that for the loan of $30,000,000 of their own money the people of the United States should be compelled to pay $66,000,000 – that is what it amounts to, with interest. People who will not turn a shovelful of dirt nor contribute a pound of material will collect more money from the United States than will the people who supply the material and do the work. That is the terrible thing about interest. In all our great bond issues the interest is always greater than the principal. All of the great public works cost more than twice the actual cost, on that account. Under the present system of doing business we simply add 120 to 150 per cent, to the stated cost.

But here is the point: If our nation can issue a dollar bond, it can issue a dollar bill. The element that makes the bond good makes the bill good.

We should have listened to men like Edison and Ford.

But we didn’t.

And so we pay the price.

On July 1, 1914 (a few months after the Fed was created) the U.S. national debt was 2.9 billion dollars.

Today, it is more than more than 5000 times larger.

Yes, the perpetual debt machine is working quite well, and most Americans do not even realize what is happening.

#3 The Federal Reserve Has Destroyed More Than 96% Of The Value Of The U.S. Dollar

Did you know that the U.S. dollar has lost 96.2 percent of its value since 1900? Of course almost all of that decline has happened since the Federal Reserve was created in 1913.

Because the money supply is designed to expand constantly, it is guaranteed that all of our dollars will constantly lose value.

Inflation is a “hidden tax” that continually robs us all of our wealth. The Federal Reserve always says that it is “committed” to controlling inflation, but that never seems to work out so well.

And current Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke says that it is actually a good thing to have a little bit of inflation. He plans to try to keep the inflation rate at about 2 percent in the coming years.

So what is so bad about 2 percent? That doesn’t sound so bad, does it?

Well, just consider the following excerpt from a recent Forbes article….

The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) has made it official: After its latest two day meeting, it announced its goal to devalue the dollar by 33% over the next 20 years. The debauch of the dollar will be even greater if the Fed exceeds its goal of a 2 percent per year increase in the price level.

#4 The Federal Reserve Can Bail Out Whoever It Wants To With No Accountability

The American people got so upset about the bailouts that Congress gave to the Wall Street banks and to the big automakers, but did you know that the biggest bailouts of all were given out by the Federal Reserve?

Thanks to a very limited audit of the Federal Reserve that Congress approved a while back, we learned that the Fed made trillions of dollars in secret bailout loans to the big Wall Street banks during the last financial crisis. They even secretly loaned out hundreds of billions of dollars to foreign banks.

According to the results of the limited Fed audit mentioned above, a total of $16.1 trillion in secret loans were made by the Federal Reserve between December 1, 2007 and July 21, 2010.

The following is a list of loan recipients that was taken directly from page 131 of the audit report….

Citigroup – $2.513 trillion

Morgan Stanley – $2.041 trillion

Merrill Lynch – $1.949 trillion

Bank of America – $1.344 trillion

Barclays PLC – $868 billion

Bear Sterns – $853 billion

Goldman Sachs – $814 billion

Royal Bank of Scotland – $541 billion

JP Morgan Chase – $391 billion

Deutsche Bank – $354 billion

UBS – $287 billion

Credit Suisse – $262 billion

Lehman Brothers – $183 billion

Bank of Scotland – $181 billion

BNP Paribas – $175 billion

Wells Fargo – $159 billion

Dexia – $159 billion

Wachovia – $142 billion

Dresdner Bank – $135 billion

Societe Generale – $124 billion

“All Other Borrowers” – $2.639 trillion

So why haven’t we heard more about this?

This is scandalous.

In addition, it turns out that the Fed paid enormous sums of money to the big Wall Street banks to help “administer” these nearly interest-free loans….

Not only did the Federal Reserve give 16.1 trillion dollars in nearly interest-free loans to the “too big to fail” banks, the Fed also paid them over 600 million dollars to help run the emergency lending program. According to the GAO, the Federal Reserve shelled out an astounding $659.4 million in “fees” to the very financial institutions which caused the financial crisis in the first place.

Does reading that make you angry?

It should.

#5 The Federal Reserve Is Paying Banks Not To Lend Money

Did you know that the Federal Reserve is actually paying banks not to make loans?

It is true.

Section 128 of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 allows the Federal Reserve to pay interest on “excess reserves” that U.S. banks park at the Fed.

So the banks can just send their cash to the Fed and watch the money come rolling in risk-free.

So are many banks taking advantage of this?

You tell me. Just check out the chart below. The amount of “excess reserves” parked at the Fed has gone from nearly nothing to about 1.5 trillion dollars since 2008….

But shouldn’t the banks be lending the money to us so that we can start businesses and buy homes?

You would think that is how it is supposed to work.

Unfortunately, the Federal Reserve is not working for us.

The Federal Reserve is working for the big banks.

Sadly, most Americans have no idea what is going on.

Another example of this is the government debt carry trade.

Here is how it works. The Federal Reserve lends gigantic piles of nearly interest-free cash to the big Wall Street banks, and in turn those banks use the money to buy up huge amounts of government debt. Since the return on government debt is higher, the banks are able to make large profits very easily and with very little risk.

This scam was also explained in a recent article in the Guardian….

Consider this: we pretend that banks are private businesses that should be allowed to run their own affairs. But they are the biggest scroungers of public money of our time. Banks are lent vast sums of money by central banks at near-zero interest. They lend that money to us or back to the government at higher rates and rake in the difference by the billion. They don’t even have to make clever investments to make huge profits.

That is a pretty good little scam they have got going, wouldn’t you say?

#6 The Federal Reserve Creates Artificial Economic Bubbles That Are Extremely Damaging

By allowing a centralized authority such as the Federal Reserve to dictate interest rates, it creates an environment where financial bubbles can be created very easily.

Over the past several decades, we have seen bubble after bubble. Most of these have been the result of the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates artificially low. If the free market had been setting interest rates all this time, things would have never gotten so far out of hand.

For example, the housing crash would have never been so horrific if the Federal Reserve had not created such ideal conditions for a housing bubble in the first place. But we allow the Fed to continue to make the same mistakes.

Right now, the Federal Reserve continues to set interest rates much, much lower than they should be. This is causing a tremendous misallocation of economic resources, and there will be massive consequences for that down the line.

#7 The Federal Reserve System Is Dominated By The Big Wall Street Banks

Even since it was created, the Federal Reserve system has been dominated by the big Wall Street banks.

The following is from a previous article that I did about the Fed….

The New York representative is the only permanent member of the Federal Open Market Committee, while other regional banks rotate in 2 and 3 year intervals. The former head of the New York Fed, Timothy Geithner, is now U.S. Treasury Secretary. The truth is that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has always been the most important of the regional Fed banks by far, and in turn the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has always been dominated by Wall Street and the major New York banks.

#8 It Is Not An Accident That We Saw The Personal Income Tax And The Federal Reserve System Both Come Into Existence In 1913

On February 3rd, 1913 the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified. Later that year, the United States Revenue Act of 1913 imposed a personal income tax on the American people and we have had one ever since.

Without a personal income tax, it is hard to have a central bank. It takes a lot of money to finance all of the government debt that a central banking system creates.

It is no accident that the 16th Amendment was ratified in 1913 and the Federal Reserve system was also created in 1913.

They have a symbiotic relationship and they are designed to work together.

We could fill Congress with people that are committed to ending this oppressive system, but so far we have chosen not to do that.

So our children and our grandchildren will face a lifetime of debt slavery because of us.

I am sure they will be thankful for that.

#9 The Current Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke, Has A Nightmarish Track Record Of Incompetence

The mainstream media portrays Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke as a brilliant economist, but is that really the case?

Let’s go to the videotape.

The following is an extended excerpt from an article that I published previously….

———-

In 2005, Bernanke said that we shouldn’t worry because housing prices had never declined on a nationwide basis before and he said that he believed that the U.S. would continue to experience close to “full employment”….

“We’ve never had a decline in house prices on a nationwide basis. So, what I think what is more likely is that house prices will slow, maybe stabilize, might slow consumption spending a bit. I don’t think it’s gonna drive the economy too far from its full employment path, though.”

In 2005, Bernanke also said that he believed that derivatives were perfectly safe and posed no danger to financial markets….

“With respect to their safety, derivatives, for the most part, are traded among very sophisticated financial institutions and individuals who have considerable incentive to understand them and to use them properly.”

In 2006, Bernanke said that housing prices would probably keep rising….

“Housing markets are cooling a bit. Our expectation is that the decline in activity or the slowing in activity will be moderate, that house prices will probably continue to rise.”

In 2007, Bernanke insisted that there was not a problem with subprime mortgages….

“At this juncture, however, the impact on the broader economy and financial markets of the problems in the subprime market seems likely to be contained. In particular, mortgages to prime borrowers and fixed-rate mortgages to all classes of borrowers continue to perform well, with low rates of delinquency.”

In 2008, Bernanke said that a recession was not coming….

“The Federal Reserve is not currently forecasting a recession.”

A few months before Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac collapsed, Bernanke insisted that they were totally secure….

“The GSEs are adequately capitalized. They are in no danger of failing.”

For many more examples that demonstrate the absolutely nightmarish track record of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, please see the following articles….

But after being wrong over and over and over, Barack Obama still nominated Ben Bernanke for another term as Chairman of the Fed.

#10 The Federal Reserve Has Become Way Too Powerful

The Federal Reserve is the most undemocratic institution in America.

The Federal Reserve has become so powerful that it is now known as “the fourth branch of government”, but there are less checks and balances on the Fed than there are on the other three branches.

The Federal Reserve runs the U.S. economy but it is not accountable to the American people. We can’t vote those that run the Fed out of office if we do not like what they do.

Yes, the president appoints those that run the Fed, but he also knows that if he does not tread lightly he won’t get the money from the big Wall Street banks that he needs for his next election.

Thankfully, there are a few members of Congress that are complaining about how much power the Fed has. For example, Ron Paul once told MSNBC that he believes that the Federal Reserve is now actually more powerful than Congress…..

“The regulations should be on the Federal Reserve. We should have transparency of the Federal Reserve. They can create trillions of dollars to bail out their friends, and we don’t even have any transparency of this. They’re more powerful than the Congress.”

As members of Congress such as Ron Paul have started to shed some light on the activities of the Federal Reserve, that has caused many in the mainstream media to come to the defense of the Fed.

For example, a recent CNBC article entitled “If The Federal Reserve Is Abolished, What Then?” makes it sound like there is absolutely no other rational alternative to having the Federal Reserve run our economy.

But this is not what our founders intended.

The founders did not intend for a private banking cartel to issue our money and set our interest rates for us.

According to Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. Congress has been given the responsibility to “coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures”.

So why is the Federal Reserve doing it?

But the CNBC article mentioned above makes it sound like the sky would fall if control of the currency was handed back over to the American people.

At one point, the article asks the following question….

“How would the U.S. economy then function? Something has to take its place, right?”

No, the truth is that we don’t need anyone to “manage” our economy.

The U.S. Treasury could be in charge of issuing our currency and the free market could set our interest rates.

We don’t need to have a centrally-planned economy.

We aren’t China.

And it goes against everything that our founders believed to be running up so much government debt.

For example, Thomas Jefferson once declared that if he could add just one more amendment to the U.S. Constitution it would be a ban on all government borrowing….

I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution. I would be willing to depend on that alone for the reduction of the administration of our government to the genuine principles of its Constitution; I mean an additional article, taking from the federal government the power of borrowing.

Oh, how things would have been different if we had only listened to Thomas Jefferson.

Please share this article with as many people as you can. These are things that every American should know about the Federal Reserve, and we need to educate the American people about the Fed while there is still time.
