How many true disciples of Jesus Christ the Lord are there?
So many proclaiming, distracted, going through some motions. Showing up to be entertained on Sunday mornings. Given a 10 minute pep rally on love and forgiveness, but nothing of the meat of the Word of God to sustain, teach, reprove, and nourish them.
Where is the sacrifice? Where are priorities placed?
Half-hearted efforts. Half-hearted beliefs.
I contend there is little sacrifice, few disciples, and the priorities are on self, on this world, as the majority professing belief in God, Christ the Lord, and the Word of God are pretenders. Unwilling to forsake all, or make Christ the priority over all things in their lives. They attempt to mold and form the Word of God, and the words of the Lord to comform to their self interests, their comfort rather than they conform and submit to the Lord and His Word.
And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Do we understand the above? Do we read it? Pray pon it? Meditate upon it? Or do we ignore this part of Scripture, as most ignore most Scripture, and only think on and belive that which fits comfortably into our modern lives? Into our worldly lives where we contend we are Christians, are followers of Christ and God while we only give them lip service and our real heart is firmly placed in this world, in our very vain and fleeting daily lives?
Are we true disciples or mere pretenders? Do we seek the understanding, the knowledge, the wisdom of God to discern His Word and the words of our Lord, Yeshua? Or are we content to carry tainted modern day translations under our arms as we drop by a church on a Sunday morning, smiling inanely, putting on a good front, while not making any sacrifices, nor forsaking this world. Not forsaking all in this world if that is what it takes to be Christ’s disciple.
Do we really believe and live according to God’s Word? Do we truly live to be pleasing and acceptable unto the Lord? Or unto ourselves? Our friends? Our co-workers? Our boss? Our relatives? Do we really believe in Christ and the Word of God? Or are we merely modern day Pharisees?
